On a windy spring day at Misselle High School, Arin's group of friends were gathering in the second-floor hallway in front of the classroom during break time. The bell suddenly rang:
Ring ring ringgggg
….
Mansa: Is it time for class? Now, what's wrong now?
Arin: That elective class, remember? You took the barista class with Kee. Me and your beloved Adam took the aromatherapy class.
Mansa: (scratches her head and smiles) Is it really the last class?
Kee: (smiled with his closed eyes and said) Mansa, since the schedule change until now, you have yet to remember a single period.
Adam stood behind Mansa and silently listened to the conversation. Throughout the conversation, he turned his head to the balcony to look at the forest behind the school, where the wind blew into the hallway, causing his tie and hair to blow gently.
Arin: (glanced at Adam, turned her head to smile at Mansa, and said) Let's go to class. It's been 2 minutes.
Adam turned his head to look across Arin's face, who was standing across from Mansa. He comes closer from behind.
Adam: (hoarse and speaking in a low voice) Mansa, see you later.
Mansa: (talking cutely) Um, honey! See you at the school's cafeteria later.
(Mansa said to Kee) Let's go!
Mansa immediately grabbed Kee's hand and ran straight down the stairs to the barista class on the first floor while Arin and Adam looked at them.
Now that only two people were left in the hallway, a gust of wind blew past them, making Arin's hair flutter and her hand immediately covered the hem of her skirt. The wind stopped with Adam's figure standing behind her, with his tall body covering the wind for Arin.
Arin: (turned to look at Adam and said coldly) I'll go to class first. It doesn't matter if you come in early or late.
….
Adam then slowly walked down the stairs while Arin looked at him and said nothing; she just sighed and walked into class.
Adam walked down the ground floor toward the school's garden, where no one was there. Standing in front of the school's large garden, he slowly took out his cigarette, turned around, and leaned back against the wall. He gently put the cigarette in his mouth, lit it, and took a puff.
Adam exhaled and closed his eyes with a thoughtful face. His eyes slowly filled with tears, and his mouth gently uttered:
Adam: Arin, why are you like this?
….
P/s: The school prohibits smoking.
Fact: Elective classes are late noon classes created based on students' interests and ideas. These classes were created to help students heal and relax by doing things they like. The class does not count towards students' grades nor require any exams. Depending on the teacher, the teacher will allow students to be absent for a specified number of days. If students exceed the number of days, it will be mandatory to leave class. A class lasts 45 minutes and takes place before lunch.
