Chapter 1 - Seraphius Sterling

Time moved forward and ages had come and faded, leaving behind the precious legend. That legend turned to myth, even myth was long forgotten as time moved forward.

Numerous ages appeared from the surface of the earth. But one age, called the Golden Age by some was the story that took place.

The wind rose from the mountain of mist. The wind is not the beginning. It is not the ending either. There is no beginning or ending in the world. But it was a beginning.

Born below from the cloud, the wind blew east, out across the dark forest. It passed through the harsh and evil but came out with a light. It was warm.

Soon the wind arrived at the Celestial Empire. It travelled the land. Passing through the travellers, merchants and citizens, finally it reached the crown of the Empire.

The heart of the place was known as the palace. It was guarded by the finest warriors in the world. The people who use swords as a catalyst to draw out power from the body.

Their swings can cause waves of destruction that can annihilate the mountains. Their physical strength was so strong that lava could be warm water to them.

And rival that warriors were Arcane. They are the beings who developed techniques to counter everything.

The wind passed through the barrier and reached the tower. It pushed through the glass window.

The man could feel something reaching him. The wind made the man think of his mother. It was that warm. Soon he felt someone tapping his shoulder.

" Young master, it's morning. "

The voice was very soft. The man opened his eyes expecting the sunlight to pour into his eyes. But what he met was an old man's satisfied expression.

" It is surprising to see you wake up on a first attempt. "

The man saw a mirror past the old man's shoulder. Inside the mirror was a blond-haired man with blue eyes so sharp that it looked like he was looking through everything.

" The king wishes to send you off but a certain event caught majesty. So the king is calling right now. "

' Hmm. Seem like something is going on in the shadow realm. '

" Young master? "

The man turned toward the source of the voice to find the old man who was dressed like a butler. The old man's lips curved and formed into a kind smile.

" I know. "

The man felt his surroundings turn dark and he started to feel dizzy. He clenched his hand. He lowered his head and put it into his hand.

' It is happening again. '

The man sensed the increased energy inside him, burning his body. His hand felt hot. His mind willed.

" Young master, are you still feeling dizzy? Should I call the knight? Or Arcane? Maybe I should call the majesty. "

Listening to the concerned old man, the man waved his hand. The man naturally thought of adjusting his increased energy like he would get used to it.

The man looked at the blond hair that was falling in front of his face. It was bright blond, much different from his parents. The elder said he carried the aura of the sun or the bearer of Light.

That was a twisted compliment. He didn't like that a bit.

' It is coming. '

The increased energy flowed around his body. The breath he took became stronger. His vision was getting sharper and his sense got expanded. He was feeling the expansion of strength. It is just normal occurring.

He shook his head and looked around. He saw a familiar bedroom. Every single thing in the room was extremely extravagant and luxurious. He observed everything and noted.

' This will be my last act here. '

" Prepare the clothes. "

" Excuse me? "

" Prepare my formal clothes, Norman. I am leaving the Empire after greeting my parents. "

" Right away. "

The old butler left the room. The man stood up from the bed and walked over to the mirror. The first thing he saw as he approached was his handsome face. It was a gift from his parents. The one he wanted to get rid of. It was annoying to ignore the female flashing on him.

Aren't they the noblewoman? Where are the manners?

He sighed. ' I should try to adjust my improved strength. '

He left the bedroom and entered the bath. There was a large mirror. His mother placed the mirror for him. She said the son of the king needed extra care of his body and appearance.

Seraphius Sterling is the only child. And the prince of the Celestial Empire.

Seraph walked into the tub that was filled with water. He dipped his finger into the water and the temperature level rose a little bit. ' Good. ' He stopped when the cosy feeling appeared.

He took off the clothes and leaned inside the tub. He looked up at the ceiling. Seraph started to mumble as he played with the water.

" I don't think I will miss this place. It had been fun living here. I guess Mother would worry about me. "

Seraph crossed his hand and started to think. ' Going to the Academy means my talent will be exposed to the world. That is a good thing. Father is preparing for me to come forward as a ruler. '

He let out a long sigh. Things will be annoying from this day. He will have to meet people his age and socialise. He will have to go to the parties as well for face. More importantly, marriage would come into his life. No matter how many times he pushed away, the Empire will make it happen.

' Should I just destroy the Empire? ' Seraph asked to himself. Obviously, he wasn't strong enough to make this happen. But with a little effort, that thing was possible.

He shook his head, diminishing that idea. It was too stupid. And he was not that cold-blooded. He still cared about his people after all.

Seraph relaxed in the warm water while coming to the term that he could deal with everything because he would be strong in the future. Not just strong, he will be very strong. After all, strength reigned everything.

" Young master, are you in the bathroom? "

Seraph could hear the old voice coming from his bed. He had sensed the old butler the moment he arrived at his range. It was not that difficult. One just needed to pay attention to every particle and energy. Humans produced those as they moved. It is not that hard.

" Yes, I will be right out. "

After a few minutes, he came out of the tub. He put on the bathrobe and exited the room. Norman was standing there with two maids behind him. Each carried a set of clothing for him to wear.

The old man smiled softly at him.

Seraph frowned. He hated wearing complicated attire because it was hard to wear and moved around. ' I can change after leaving the palace. '

He decided to follow the rules. Meeting the king was important as well. He can't disrespect even if he wants to. The honoured man deserved the honour. Especially, that person held the lives of millions of people.

The maids came forward and started to dress him. It was too eye-catching. He looked at the reflection in the mirror and it was a handsome youth.

Seraph turned around. " Lead the way. "

He ordered Norman who bent and greeted him like a noble. The old man led the complicated palace. Seraph remembered a few familiar places but that is all.

Over a decade of staying in the palace didn't make him remember every corner of the giant building. That didn't matter either since he could just walk to a servant and make him or her guide the way.

All the servants who saw him bowed down. They were respectful in his presence but after leaving Seraph heard murmurs. It was mainly about his appearance or presence.

Some even said that he was a child from another Empire. Seraph didn't feel anything in front of those words. What can they do to him?

A mere word can't affect even a single atom inside him. Of course, if that word carried Arcane, that meant a problem. But he could simply cut down.

They were useless.

After twisting and turning, he arrived at the large door. Norman nodded to the two black armoured guards beside the door.

" I shall open the door. "

" Right. "

Seraph saw his father, the current Emperor of Celestial, Aldric playing a board game with his mother.

" You finally arrived. " His father smiled at him and waved him to come sit at the chair. Seraph nodded and sat down.

" I can't believe our son is now going to the Academy. " His mother spoke.

" Yeah, Sera. We have something for you. "

" Don't call me like that. It is like a girl's name. "

The couple giggled, looking at each other. Look like the game they are playing has stopped. Seraph checked and saw his mother was winning. It was one-sided.

It didn't surprise him because he knew his mother was the smartest person he knew.

Elowen Sterling was the queen that held the economy of the Empire. Her knowledge was vast enough for the tower to give her the title of saint. The only person who topped his mother was ***.

His father stood up and walked over to some chest.

" Aren't you going to say Goodbye? ' His mother said.

" I guess so. Not that you guys need to hear it from me. I am just leaving this place for three years. "

" Oh my. You are heartless. We are the parents. " Aldric said with a joking tone.

Seraph changed his words. " I will miss you but you will have letters from me. "

His mother smiled holding his hand. " Good. "

Aldric came back with a sword in his hand. Its hilt, wrapped in aged leather, showed signs of wear, evidence of countless hands that had grasped it in times of need.

Seraph sensed something interesting in the sword. He didn't know what that was but it was interesting.

" We got a farewell gift for you. Although you might need to change the scabbard. " His mother spoke.

" Heh. You will like it. I ordered my best warrior to find this sword. The legend said the darkest age was destroyed by the brightest star. Hero Ray fought every single darkness with the star and created this era. "

Aldric paused for a dramatic effect.

" Behold, the sword that carried the property of light and darkness. The era broker. ' Morningstar. ' Take it. "

Seraph carefully grabbed the sword. He cut off his energy from contact with the sword. He didn't want to master the sword yet.

" Thank. " Seraph smiled.
