Chereads / MARVEL: SILVER SUPERMAN OF ASGARD / Chapter 81 - CHAPTER 81

Chapter 81 - CHAPTER 81

Due to the absence of the Mind Stone, Ultron is unable to create Vision's body to house its artificial intelligence, resulting in Vision's non-existence.

Initially, the first-generation Avengers consisted of only six members. With the absence of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and decreased cooperation from Thor, there are now only five superheroes left on Earth.

This situation has made their struggle against the Chitauri Legion, let alone defeating Ultron, who currently controls all the planet's networks, even more challenging.

As Ultron keeps summoning more robot legions, the five Avengers superheroes find themselves cornered on a street, surrounded by waves of Ultron Legion robots.

Despite the Hulk's uncontrolled rage, he is bombarded so densely with lasers from the Ultron Legion that it takes an entire street before he's stopped, looking defeated.

At this critical moment, the S.H.I.E.L.D. director arrives in a S.H.I.E.L.D. spaceship to rescue the citizens stranded on the floating island. The spaceship's side opens countless missile launch ports, aiming to support the Avengers and save them through fire suppression.

Their goal is to secure the control center of the anti-gravity device, preventing Ultron from deactivating it and causing the island to crash.

A burst of artillery fire from the S.H.I.E.L.D. spacecraft shatters a significant portion of the surrounding Ultron Legion, providing some relief for the Avengers.

However, Ultron Legion robots elsewhere retaliate, targeting the S.H.I.E.L.D. spaceship with their firepower.

Though both legions exchange fire, they both suffer severe damage. Nevertheless, the Ultron Legion's sheer numbers put too much pressure on the S.H.I.E.L.D. spaceship's defensive barriers, making it difficult for them to hold their ground.

In light of this, Captain America steps in, "We need to secure the anti-gravity device, gain control of it, and prevent Ultron from crashing the island. Evacuation is no longer an option due to the large number of citizens on the island."

Many superheroes voice their agreement. Iron Man takes to the air, providing fire support and assisting others in reaching the anti-gravity device.

Ultron catches on to their plan and activates the anti-gravity device prematurely. The device shoots skyward at a speed more than ten times its previous rate, causing the island's ascent to accelerate suddenly.

As they rise, Iron Man sees the small island rapidly approaching from below, and the impact as it crashes into the ground forces everyone to the floor, making it nearly impossible to move due to the powerful updraft.

Sokovia reaches an altitude of several thousand meters, but Ultron seeks to enhance its power even further.

Using his suit's propellers, Iron Man struggles to keep up with Sokovia's ascent. However, the heroes' progress is slow, hampered by the Ultron Legion robots surrounding them.

Soon, Sokovia reaches a height of nearly 10,000 meters. Ultron taunts the exhausted heroes, "You're trying to save the world, but it's too late."

The thin air at this altitude leaves the heroes gasping for breath. Iron Man anticipates Ultron's plan and attempts to fire lasers, but it's too late due to their dwindling firepower.

Ultron forces the anti-gravity device, causing Sokovia to plummet from an altitude of nearly 10,000 meters. The terrified citizens on the island scream as it falls.

The heroes, in their weightless state, are powerless to stop the island's descent. Chaos ensues as Sokovia approaches Earth.

The situation spreads worldwide through the internet, causing panic, prayers, and desperate cries for help. The Avengers' rescue mission has failed.

On the sidelines, Rhodes watches the catastrophe unfold. He wonders about the Ancient One's inaction, considering her power.

Rhodes recalls his encounter with Yao, whose strength was overwhelming. He believes that someone of her caliber should easily handle the current crisis, considering that even superheroes couldn't match her abilities.

Iron Man struggles to slow Sokovia's fall, using the full power of his suit. Despite his efforts, the enormous island proves too heavy, and he can't stop its descent.

Rhodes awaits Yao's intervention but is puzzled by her absence.

Finally, Yao teleports beside Rhodes.

Rhodes questions her, "Aren't you the Earth's guardian? The small island's fall is causing massive destruction."

Yao gazes at the Earth from a distance as the island plummets, igniting a small fire upon impact. The fire quickly spreads.

Yao explains, "'I can only intervene during crises caused by external threats to Earth. The current conflict is an internal human matter, and I cannot interfere."

Rhodes asks in surprise, "So, the rebellion of artificial intelligence is considered a human internal conflict?"

Yao nods, "Yes, it is a human internal conflict. Artificial intelligence is part of human civilization. Even if it leads to a nuclear apocalypse that threatens Earth, I am not authorized to act."

Rhodes is left speechless by Yao's revelation.

As they continue to watch, a massive mushroom cloud erupts on Earth, creating a fiery ring that encircles the planet. The shockwave shatters the Earth, causing widespread destruction.

Especially near Sokovia's crash site, cracks ripple through the Earth's surface.

It becomes clear that a large portion of the planet is experiencing apocalyptic upheaval, with countless casualties and destruction.

Yao maintains her solemn demeanor, while volcanic eruptions, landslides, tsunamis, and magma wreak havoc, further reducing the human population.

In the outer universe, Hela watches this catastrophe unfold. She feels deep sympathy for the people on Earth who are losing their loved ones and their world.

Overwhelmed by the situation, Hela decides to use the Infinity Gauntlet in her possession.

Seeing this, Yao's interest is piqued, not because she has any particular fascination with the Infinity Gauntlet, but because she didn't expect Rhodes to collect all six Infinity Gems so quickly. Yao acknowledges her inability to interfere in human conflicts but recognizes that Rhodes and his group have no such constraints.

Previously, Yao might have prevented outside interference in Earth's conflicts, but under the current circumstances, she is willing to turn a blind eye to their actions. Yao is also aware that attempting to stop Rhodes would likely be futile given his formidable abilities.

Yao patiently waits for Rhodes and the others to take action.

Hela is ready to use the Infinity Gauntlet's time power to turn back time. However, Rhodes intervenes, warning her that this extensive operation would consume a significant amount of her energy, potentially harming their child.

Concerned for the Earth's fate, Hela questions, "What should we do then? We can't just stand by and watch the Earth's destruction. As the guardians of the Nine Realms, it's our responsibility. But now, there are no fun places left in the Nine Realms."

Rhodes steps forward, offering to take matters into his own hands.
