Evelyn woke up surprised that she had slept so well. She was not sure what had caused it, but she felt more at ease here than she had expected. She fixed her braids and then dawned a new set of trousers and a clean linen shirt. She was looking forward to whatever Maxine and Micah had in store for her today. Evelyn found everyone gathered in the dining room the same way she had last night.
"Good morning," she greeted them.
"Good morning," Maxine replied. "I trust that you slept well?"
"I did; thank you," Evelyn smiled and pulled her chair out from the table. She took her seat next to Clyde and admired the large spread of food that was laid out for her. "You did not have to trouble yourself with so much just for breakfast," she said to Clyde.
