"How much further do we have?" Evelyn asked Clyde. It was already well past noon and they had not seen anyone else on the trail yet this morning.
"We have quite a ways to go. We will stop and make camp around dinner time. I would like to get some more distance behind us before we stop again," he replied.
Evelyn nodded her head and took in the scenery. It was so quiet and peaceful that she did not know what to feel. She could not tell if it was a good sign or not that they had not yet run into other people. She knew that Clyde had said they had a long ways to go before they reached another settlement, but she thought it was strange that they had not encountered anyone else.
"Is this not a well traveled trail?" She asked.
"No," Clyde replied. "It is traveled by merchants, but the shifters tend to keep to themselves so this trail, while frequently used, tends to be very quiet until we get closer to the settlements," he explained.
