Evelyn took in her image in the vanity mirror. Mary had pinned her long hair up in an elegant braid and she wasn't lying when she said she had a trick to keep her corset looser. She fiddled with the small malachite necklace she had made that afternoon and was pleased that it didn't stand out too much with the lilac dress. She slid some small gold rings onto her fingers and then made her way to Peggy's room.
"Are you done yet?" She called out as she knocked on the door.
"Yes, just about; come in," Peggy answered her back.
Evelyn opened the door and made her way onto Peggy's bed. Their rooms were set up exactly the same, but she noticed that Peggy had the drapes drawn on her French doors. "How can you stand to be in here with no light?" She asked.
Peggy pointed to the small lamp that was lit on her dressing table, "I have light."
