Chapter 57 - Chp. 57 Managing the Dungeon

Mark slowly got used to using the Technique of hiding over the months while also spending time crafting random items since the various tribes has great stores of blacksmithing skills within.

The dungeon has rarely any resources to mine like metal so the tribes here had developed advanced skills in re-using metal and recycling trash as well as getting from another source.

They have a staple food coming from three things, a palm like plant, a vary proliferous grass and a unique animal that provided a lot for the people in this dungeon.

Though Marc had created more land and resources for them, it was still thousands of years of tradition and habits which he cannot take away.

It was not like the resource was useless now but it was a new species of plants and animal that was the result of generations of selective breeding by the people in this dungeon.

The palm like plant was like a coconut that grows fast and produces lots of fruit as well as provide great source of fiber and lumber. This is where they got Oil, wood, fiber and many other parts that will never go to waste.

The meat inside the fruit is quite bland and not sweet like a normal coconut since it was made to produce as much food as it can but the taste was affected.

Dry the younger leaves and grind it then it becomes a flour like substance that is used to make bread.

Mush up the soft top part of the tree then they can extract palm starch like a Sago Palm.

Its fibers have different layers that they can extract three types of thread from hard that are commonly used making ropes, the normal one which it made into common clothes and items used by the citizens and the soft rare ones that the elders value for its comfortable texture.

They call it the Life Palm.

The grass on the other hand is also a valuable resource that is used by everyone within the dungeon. It seems like a hybrid between plain grass and bamboo, they call it a simple name, Long Weed.

Since Bamboo is a grass as well but this one grows faster but just as versatile in its uses like Bamboo, its shoots can be used as food, younger stalks are used as arrow shafts, longer stalks for spears and the longest and mature one can be used to build houses.

Inside is also filled with water so some rather old grass became so tall that the trunk about four meters in diameter and stored large amounts of water as reserve.

Also if it grows mature they have tiny flowers that are a special commodity that the natives like, if you dry it and use it to smoke you will have some flower version of the Zaza.

Rather appropriate since its name rather speaks volumes as to what it was.

The last one is the animal that provided great assistance to the survival of the people inside this dungeon.

A special breed of boars that stemmed from the Steel Backed Boars, it was the Iron potbelly pig.

A C-class level of beast that eats the Long Weed and various excess from the other production lines like the pulp from making palm starch to could grow large amount of meat which provides most of the protein intake of the people within this world.

It could grow up fast from piglet to Hog within a year and could grow up from one pound to one Ton.

It only stood about two meters tall hoof to shoulder while its belly will sag and hang once it was an adult showing the large amounts of meat it produces.

Oil from the fat, meat from the body, organs are not wasted and even the bones are used.

Reason it is called an Iron Potbelly Pig is that it's bones are thin yet very hard as it was made of iron in about 70% of it but once extracted only about half of the metal in the bone could be refined by their best smiths.

Physically wise it can exert strength similar to a higher B-class beast but since its ones are rather thin its blood pressure is so low that it needed to get fat so it could have fat insides of it that makes poor blood pressure into normal.

This was also because its bones are thin thus produced rather small amounts of blood for the Pig.

This when it is born the piglet are like floppy sacks of meat too lazy to move as they were all lethargic creatures.

They would only move to eat and eat again so they could get fat to lose their lethargic nature but that would meant they would be too heavy to move in the end.

A perfect farm animal that provides food and iron that supplies the people with metal to use for weapons and daily life tools.

Marc did find it interesting that they were able to develop this much to provide their needs.

But he did not let their production of these plants expand and made them all focused on a specialized area to take care of these things.

He did not want such fast growing plants to develop in other parts of the dungeons since in retrospect they are totally invasive and would kill as well as outgrow other plants.

So the specialized area is placed in a way that none of the pigs or any of the seedlings of these plants are to spread.

Sure there are other animals and plants here in this dungeon since the citizens at least knew not to spread the plants into places they cannot control.

Especially now that their world is not dying anymore and that the land has expanded.

At least his plan is on its way as the whole population is being slowly transitioned to adapt to the changes that are about to happen in this world.

The military are also being disbanded since they have no further use, only the elites and willing will remain which was just about 10% of the whole army.

The total force of all tribes combined is about 80 thousand in number and now only 8 thousand is left but no one dared to make trouble now that Marc is their ruler.

His powers are still etched deep within their eyes which at least did not make the public disorderly from the return of the soldiers home.

He did have them compensated from the pockets of the five tribe chiefs much to their sadness but for Marc it was useless to horde money which is kind of useless at this point.

Their currency was just mostly teeth and claws of beasts which were valued depending on which beasts owned the claws.

Marc at least had Philip and Chief Nutsbitah in planning to make a form of solid currency which he explained in detail.

He took some inspirations from this world's form of currency and also adapted some from Earth's as he presented his ideas.

It was not an immediate implementation but rather a slow one, Marc has some ambition but he does not have the need to develop right now since he felt that troublesome God will find him unless he masters the technique of Hiding.

So he bided his time as he made his hobbies a daily thing, from reading and practicing as well as making armors and bows for the monkeys on the walls while also showing them how to make simple tree houses.

He even introduced them in making fruit wine which became a hit for them making them loyal to him as they all became drunkards.

He was also informed of the changes in the other side as the Fort that was in front of the wall somehow changed.

There were more Ballistae and some specially armored soldiers are patrolling the parapets.

They even have some towers constructed on the top of the cliffs watching over the small forest developing atop the large earthen wall.

Marc ordered the Monkeys to not open hostilities and only watch but if they ever get too close to the wall then they are permitted to shoot.

Other than that, Marc was drawing up a city plan while thinking about the various needs of the different tribes.

Lizardmen prefer moist and warm areas like rainforests, Oasis or tropical climates.

Goblins did not care where they are situated but they mostly like the mountains and hills.

Orcs were fond of the plains and like herding more of the Iron Potbelly Pigs as well as growing the Long Weeds.

Dark Elves are in the forests which had now been remade making them happy since they forgot how long have they not lived within a real large forest.

Kobolds thrive in Caves and the forest as well so they lived in burrows on the ground while the Dark Elves live in tree houses by the canopy.

The crowded City is slowly thinning out, as Marc had planned because he found that this place is a whole mish mash of problems waiting to fall apart on itself.

He may not be that much educated in the side of engineering but he can understand that if this whole population still stay in this old city then it will likely fall apart one day.

This was his own honest opinion and he wanted this place gone, no more as this might just make more problems for him later if he does not take care of it.

So the people within the City is slowly being divided and given responsibilities within various different areas.

Depending on what their specialty is they will be segregated, assessed and placed in positions that are proper for their talents.

It was a hassle really for Marc but he must so he did, two years of clearing the city as batch by batch people were sent away from place to place to make a network that will become a lifeline to the future of the new City that will be constructed.
