There was another reason Marc wanted to learn their language and that was to fully understand the two tomes he has hidden.
Other than that he spent the time doing what he can for the moment and seeing their almost broken weapons as well cracked armors that he volunteered repairing them one by one himself. This made Lady Janice wide eyed seeing Marc work in the forge.
The knights were also able to see the training area of the chickens but the way they call and describe the chickens are somewhat similar to the Cockatrice monster of the Game called the Witcher.
Marc was even surprised he even remembered that after ten years, but he did not show much for the meantime.
He did ask for stories and tales of the world they were in and there Marc was able to learn that they live in a Dark Fantasy kind of world.
He learned that there was magic outside this peninsula and that most monsters could use them as they have innate gifts unique to their species.
Marc was told that the chickens were treated as a dangerous monster back in her home and that adventurers are tasked to eliminate if one is to be spotted.
Marc heard many things from the maids and soldiers as he helped them recover as well as do his other things he has not finished. He did restrict the area where they wander about but they did not mind much.
This went on for another month and by them Marc was able to talk more to the knights and maids as he slowly adapted to their language.
He does not know how he was able to remember and learn faster but he will just attribute this to the gift of the Durango fruit making him more talented.
Which by the way he did not disclose to his guest, he does not know much but he can tell the great value of the Tree. Good thing the tree looked like every other tree within the forest and its fruits were the only unique part of it.
Well its branches are very sturdy and flexible too. For now Marc is entertaining his guest as long as he has time while doing daily chores and work.
He also got help from Etra and Marla who were able to use the loom while they were waiting for their knights to heal and recover.
Janice and the other maids also was happy to do something other than waiting as they started making dresses from the cloth they had made from the Rabbit Furs.
The other Knights helped too as they cleaned the rabbits, that were hunted, faster than the Hens and roosters that were trained by Marc on how to butcher. Well opposable thumbs are really handy, thankfully the chickens are not the only ones Marc trained.
Some smaller weaker beast that surrendered recently to Marc, as he had just found out about them, were monkeys.
The knights and maids helped Marc in teaching the primates but they are not yet that careful with sharp knives so he had a bit of trouble.
Marc did not care much as long as his guest does not snoop around too much, he even let them watch him train some monsters in fighting as well as being of use in the town.
They also did witness the attack of the large Pack of Wildland Mountain Wolves led by an Alpha that the Head Knight estimated to be S-Class. He was a B-Class adventurer formerly and he was able to deduce this much as he watched the battle.
There their worlds were overturned again seeing Cockatrices wear armor and knives on their legs to respond to the attacks.
This effectively raised their deadliness to +A-Class and the one the Wildman called Tyrone, a weird name but was able to become a +S-Class threat with its whole body armor.
The one called Bacon, the Steel Back Boar was also a total castle destroyer when it charged forward to decimate the wolves in its charge.
It's tusk were like deadly sabers reaping lives as it rampaged and no attacks could damage him in his full golden Armor.
It's rider was even more formidable, with one slash he kept killing Wolves in droves. Such forces that would have rendered cities to ruins are being treated as fodder in front of Marc.
He did not use any fancy moves or Battle Arts as his whole strength was just enough to kill the wolves.
Some knights even started calling Marc as a Saint, his strength is enough to put him into the leagues of the high rank fighters of the world.
[Solesinese Empire, Wiscom City]
In a large city near the Borders of Solesinese Empire with an average population of 25 thousand people, a large Castle could be found within and inside a man could be seen throwing around valuable paintings and pottery.
"That Fucking Bitch!!! She did not even accept my terms and then she went to die in the Infamous Wildlands of Port West!! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!!" the man was about six feet two inches tall with brown hair and black eyes and was rampaging around his castle.
He was the Tenth Prince and was a popular Candidate for the Position of the Emperor while fighting against his siblings the 4th and 19th princes.
He had the hold of the military and has been able to build a secret Navy for his use to win the throne and all that was missing is someone from the Faction of Old Nobles to take his side.
His Fourth Brother had already most of them and the others were a younger generation of nobles in his 19th brother's hands. Only noble left was his aunt who was considered influential in the ladies court.
But now suddenly rumors started to spring out that he had invited her into his faction but she rejected making him use force that drove her far away and finally dying in the East most Wildlands.
"Shit shit shit! My brothers could have never done this themselves, Father might be getting old but he still has some fight in him left to make things difficult for all of us. And our Aunt is someone our Father cared for, shit!!" the prince was fuming mad as he felt that the eyes pointing towards his direction might just uncover the trump cards he had been hiding.
"You Highness, it seems there is another party that is aiming for the throne. And if we do not identify this person then maybe we will face harder times since he/she was able to spread the rumors far and wide in a few days. Obviously this is no mere contender but someone who has enough pull and could sweep up the board." A bespectacled old man said as he gave advice to the trouble prince.
"I can see that, but we both know that our spies and men are already spread thin trying to watch out for my brothers' moves. In other words we might need to hire outsiders to disprove this rumor first before we can afford to take out some resources to find the other contender." The prince calmed down a bit as he knew he must show a public announcement to diffuse the situation first.
"Your highness, the famed group of Adventurers, the Betford Reavers is present in the city. They had recently taken down a dangerous S-Class monster in the forest near Reazion Castle, surely they would be able to traverse the Fogs beyond the Mountain Castle of Mogard in Port West." The old man suggested as he caressed his handlebar mustache.
"Betford Reavers, isn't that the group led by a girl from a declined noble family from a distant country to the west? Doesn't she have a holy sword with her or something?" the 10th prince raised his brow as he remembered the tales he had heard from bards.
"Yes your Highness, it's the family of a Paladin hero Hyde the Ever watchful. The girl's name is Lydia Hyde and she is already an A-Class adventurer and somehow plans to reach S-Class." The old man nodded as he saw the Prince's eyes gleam.
"I heard she was quite a beauty herself, go and invite her as well as her team. Tell them I have a mission for them, and make sure to have many people know of our request of hiring them. This will make those nosy old nobles slow down for a minute and give us time to hide our cards from peering eyes." The prince fixed his hair a bit and looked towards the window to peer down towards the people going on about their lives.
"Soon this land will me mine and I will make the whole world know of my name…" the Prince said as he retreated to his Quarters.
[Two Weeks Later]
Four carriages trek the road towards Fog Fort, a small fort where the people were mostly garrisoned soldiers from the nearby Barony assigned to watch out for outbreaks from the small yet deadly wildlands.
The leader of the small caravan was a young beautiful raven haired girl who carries a sheathed sword around, she stood about 5'8" and has a very stoic expression as she sat inside her carriage while the Vice leader of their team is looking over documents in front of her.
"How long are you going to keep staring at the contract Henry? We are now so close to the Fog Mountains and it is no time for fusing over pointless things like this."
