She woke up drenched with sweat, trembling, and panting.
She immediately got up from her bed to catch her breath.
She looked down in her bed and saw sheets and covers wet from sweat.
Another dream, she muttered.
She has been dreaming about weird things these days.
"Maybe it is just a nightmare, she convinces herself.
It's weird because all her life's dreams are coming true in a really weird and creepy way because of her ability.
She has had it ever since she was four, after the car accident with her mom.
She miraculously lived while her mother was dead upon arrival.
It was supposed to be another happy Christmas, but on the way home from getting all the things they needed for Christmas at the mall, a ten-wheeler truck got in their way.
And smash their old Ford truck.
She hugged her knees, considering that if only she had had this ability before the accident, her mom would've still been alive by now.
She cried again, missing her mom. It's now been 16 years since it happened, and it's still fresh in her head.
"Leanne." A man's voice calls her at the window.
The man helped himself by getting in like he was used to doing so.
Even if she won't bother seeing the man, she knows to whom it belongs.
It's the person that she has been avoiding for the past few days.
"Marcus, what are you doing here in my room?" she said, almost stuttering.
She knows what it wants; she just wants to ignore it. And play innocent as long as possible.
"You cannot avoid me your whole life, Leanne, so please stop avoiding me and talk to me, Marcus pleads.
Leanne's P. O. V.
Shit, this is it.
I need to face him; after all, he's my best friend.
I hope he'll understand.
"Look, Marcus. I'm sorry. I know it's hard for you, but it's hard for me too. With all those confessions you make and the people who are around us that day, it's suffocating."
"I'm sorry." He cut me off, and I waited for the next thing he'd say.
I didn't mean to pressure you in front of everybody, including mama and your father. It's just that I was so stupid thinking it was the right thing to do. I didn't even think about how you were going to feel about it." He explains, ranting his words with so much emotion in his voice and regret evident in his eyes.
I'm stupid enough to think that you feel what I feel, but I guess I'm wrong. "He sighed and looked down.
I guess I need to be honest with him now.
It's now or later.
" Marcus: I hold his hand and gesture for him to sit beside me.
I put my hand above his and looked at his eyes—those ash-like eyes.
He's really attractive with those thick, naturally formed eyebrows, fair skin, a perfect jawline, and the short, wavy black hair.
He is like a model with his perfect muscular body.
especially when he smirks like what he's giving me now.
"Are you done checking me out?" He cut off my train of thought while his eyebrows moved up and down.
"Oh, come on," I said, rolling my eyes at him.
So." He motioned for me to continue what I was about to say.
"So, you like me? I said out loud.
'Obviously that's why the two of you are here in this situation, idiot. My inner self
"Ahamm." He raises his eyebrows.
"Ehemm." I cleared my throat.
"Marcus, we were friends since I can remember my life. We grew up together. I admit I had a crush on you when we were in high school, but then later on I found that was just admiration. Look, you are my rock, Marcus. You're with me ups and downs. You always back me up and always defend me in any circumstances. You are my mate, my other half, and... a brother for me. "I paused and looked at him, seeing that he understood what I was trying to say.
I'm sorry, Marcus. I love you so much like a family; I always wanted to have a sibling of my own, and I see it in you. "I continued.
And there, his tears started falling, and I hugged him.
I can't take seeing him this vulnerable.
Marcus, please don't be mad at me. I'm sorry if there are things that made you think I feel the same. I didn't know I misled you with all those times that I tried to be sweet to you. Please, Marcus, I can't live without you." I said, crying.
"You know what? You really are selfish, he said at the back of my head while we stayed in our embrace.
"I'm sorry, but I really can't live without you, I said, still crying like a baby.
"That's not what I meant, Leanne; how could you steal my crying moment? You even cried more loudly, which is a bit annoying in the ear, he said with squinted eyes and full sarcasm in his voice.
I laugh at him thinking about it.
"And please don't ever apologize for something that is not your fault. Honestly, I want to say you're brave enough to say the truth to me, he said in a serious tone.
"I can't leave you, Leanne. So, stop crying. First, my family leaves in your family's mansion. Second, I simply can't do it.So, whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me, he said with that smirk again.
"So, you're not mad at me?" I said with puppy eyes.
''How can I possibly do that, Leanne? I'm madly, stupidly in love with you,'' he said, defeated.
"Yes,!" I shouted and jump at him. I felt him stiffen at first but eventually calm down, sighing.
He really can't resist me.
"So, tell me about this thing that's been bothering me since I got in here, he asked, changing the subject.
It's just a weird dream," I simply said, still bothered about it.
"What's so weird about it?" he asked again, wanting a clear answer.
It's about two people who switched worlds—one from our world and one from the world called earth. The earth is just like our planet blue, but they don't call it" blue" like our world, instead they name it earth. It's weird, I said, confused.
You're right, that's a weird dream, he said, amused.
" it's just a casual dream—wait, when did you have a casual dream again? "He now realizes what I was saying.
His eyes widened.
He shook his head several times.
And then he would say: " it's impossible."
"Marcus,I think this is serious. I've dreamed a lot about them and their lives this whole week; I even know now how it feels to live in their lives." I was telling him my point because this has been bothering me for a week.
He just listened to me without interrupting, and it seems he's also thinking.
Do you think you're connected to them somehow? he blurted out.
I look at you like you just got what I'm thinking.
And i say" That what i'm gonna find ou-"
I was interrupted by the sound of a gunshot.
And then everything went black.
