Briar sat in the passenger seat with her eyes glued out her window. They were about thirty minutes into their drive back into the city, which had been a ride that they were going through in silence. Well, mostly silence. The soft pitter patter of rain on the windshield was a calming noise. To add to the ambience was the soft music playing from the radio.
"Was his offer favorable to you?" The nymph shifted her gaze over to the witch. This was the first time he spoke for the entire ride. Now that the silence was broken, she wanted it back. He didn't turn to look back at her at all. Instead his gaze was narrowed at the road ahead of them.
"Whose offer?" Her head cocked to the side in confusion. It was obvious he was already upset, but she was sure that the only offer was the one made by the council as a total.
