Chapter 79 - Letter

"I'm finally back." Hao Yu let out a long sigh, feeling tired from all those actions. He just wanted to clean up his table and go to bed.

But when he was about to reach for the scrolls on his table, he noticed an envelope with a blue-colored seal. The seal had a lotus's petal on it.

"This is… Senior Sister?" Hao Yu hurriedly opened the letter and smiled at the content.

"Junior Brother. I've sent the letter to your superior with an offer he can't refuse. It's also a win for me, so I don't really mind. Besides, I can finally meet you, Junior Brother. You're the only one who doesn't wander around too much unlike First Senior Brother and Master.

"So, don't worry. He will definitely agree to that arrangement and you can easily meet me. You should know the path you should take to reach this place as quickly as possible. Just show them my token and they will take you with them.

"I'm looking forward to meeting you. So, hurry up and come here."

Hao Yu couldn't help but chuckle. It felt like he knew what kind of offer his senior sister gave to Leng Xiu.

It reminded him of her speech back then.

"Junior Brother! You need money. If you can't solve your problem with money, then you simply don't have enough money! But I guess this is the reason I like you, Junior Brother. Unlike other people, you aren't easily swayed by money… if not, you would have followed me around."

"Haha. As you said, if you have enough money, you can solve everything. The fact that you can't solve my problem is simply because you don't have enough money, Senior Sister." Hao Yu chuckled.

"Don't forget what you said. Let's see if I can reach the point that you will be swayed by my money in the future!"

Magistrate Office.

"Hmm?" Leng Xiu furrowed his eyebrows when he saw the name of the sender. "Mei Yuanling? Isn't that the wise's second disciple? In other words, the one sending this letter is actually Hao Yu's senior sister."

He felt something was wrong since there was supposed to be no contact between him and Mei Yuanling.

After preparing his resolve, Leng Xiu opened the letter and read it. The content was pretty straightforward.

He just skipped past the pleasantries and read straight at the core of the content.

"Magistrate Leng, it pains me to request this from you, but it appears that I require my junior brother Hao Yu's presence in this place. I've heard of the deeds of Hao Yu in your city. While it's in its early stage, I believe that it can definitely help the Dragon City.

"However, I believe that his expertise is more needed in this place instead of the Dragon City. I'll ask my junior brother to complete all the preparations for all his projects, allowing you to easily take over the projects, but I hope that Sir Leng doesn't mind if Hao Yu leaves your city as soon as possible."

Leng Xiu furrowed his eyebrows. Releasing Hao Yu? There was no way he could do that, especially when Hao Yu was so useful in his city.

"But…" Leng Xiu clenched his fist. "Past her identity as his senior sister and the wise's second disciple, Mei Yuanling is actually the leader of one of the biggest chambers of commerce in the dynasty. While she doesn't work with the government, the money she pours into the government is so much that the government usually gives in."

Leng Xiu faced a dilemma. On the one hand, the Dragon City didn't need any money, so bribes wouldn't be effective. On the other hand, there was a chance that the Dragon City would face another problem if the Dragon City confronted her directly.

"As expected of the disciples of the wise, just thinking about them is giving me a headache." Leng Xiu clicked his tongue. He recounted every job Hao Yu had done. "He has created that festival, returned the price to its original level, fed the slum, and even started a few construction projects. To be fair, a normal administrator won't be able to achieve all that in less than two weeks."

It was because of this reason that Leng Xiu didn't really want to let him go. If Hao Yu could do all that in less than two weeks, he could do more in the two months, which was the duration of his stay.

"But if I take a look at this letter, it's clear that she demands that Hao Yu go there so that he could return straight to Fengyun City without Elder Han knowing it. Calculating the time to travel, he must go in a few days to a week from now."

Leng Xiu's expression darkened. To think that a single letter would frustrate him this much.

He continued reading the next part.

"If Magistrate Leng can part with Hao Yu, then Snow Petal Chamber of Commerce is willing to create a new branch in Dragon City. I believe that the Dragon City is able to become a central hub that connects the western and eastern part of the prefecture."

Leng Xiu's face became even darker. He obviously understood the meaning of having a chamber of commerce in this place. While the merchant association regulated the operation of the merchant groups, Snow Petal Chamber of Commerce could actually bring in numerous merchants into this place. They were simply that trusted.

With that influx of merchants, the city would gain a lot of profits from the entry, let alone if the merchant chose to sell their products here.

Their influence was simply too much. Mei Yuanling had given him something that was hard to receive.

Instead of asking another chamber of commerce to enter and ending up antagonizing her as well as Hao Yu, it was better to accept the deal.

Even though he was a magistrate, he never thought that he would be pressured to accept this deal.

"Still, I have a few days to decide. I should just consider it for a bit and let Hao Yu create a lot of things before sending him away."

Leng Xiu didn't realize that he would face a problem so big that he had no choice other than to send Hao Yu away. Mei Yuanling might be the one who demanded him to come to a decision, but Hao Yu would be the one to force him to act.
