I arrived back home before 9:00 a.m. Knowing that someone would be there waiting for me made me uneasy. I shook off the unsettling thoughts in my head. It was my decision for her to stay with me and I think we will go along well. I don't think That Kagari is a bad person either. She can't be a bad person. She is the kind of person who's willing to reach out her hand to a stranger for help.
I placed my hand on my door and opened it. As I stepped in the side, I was surprised by the lively greeting that welcomed me from the door.
"Welcome home, Rin."
It's a simple greeting, but why my heart starts to pound so hard? Was it because she reminded me of Luna? No, No, This can't be. I should not think of her as Luna. Kagari is herself.
Kagari stared at me for a second and tilted her head cutely.
"Hmm… What's the matter? Why pause?"
"Nothing…"
"I see."
"By the way, I got this bread from the bakery downtown. It was her latest creation."
I handed the bag of bread to Kagari. She opens and sniffs inside the paper bag.
"Wow! The bread smells really good. It looks expensive. You should not go for trouble getting me this bread. If it's bread I could bake one." Kagari said.
I could tell that she was a frugal type. I don't hate it because I was the same. Even I got some spare money in my savings. I still want to act frugal. Spending money on unnecessary things is just a waste.
"The daughter of the bakery owner was my former classmate. She gives me that bread for free."
"Hmmm… Is a girl giving you this bread? I see… I see…" Kagari's tone seems to suggest that something else is going on and I don't have any idea about it. After that, she happily walked to the kitchen and sat down.
To my surprise, breakfast is already served on the table: fried egg, toast, and coffee.
My eyes widened because for the very first time in a very long time, someone cooked for me.
"Huh? What's with another pause? Sat down and have some breakfast. The egg I used was from drops of bird monster. It's a delicacy. About the toast, its I saw loaf bread in the cabinet… Is it not good enough?"
"No, no, no, I'm very pleased that's all… I also ate breakfast in the bakery."
"What? Then, this breakfast is…"
She bowed down feeling sorry on the table.
I sat down opposite her and started munching the breakfast that she made. I took a massive bite of the toast and sipped the coffee. Afterward, I proceeded to the fried egg.
"This egg is so good!"
"You said you ate breakfast."
"I already have breakfast, but there is still room in my big stomach. I'm a man I need lots of energy to go throughout the day of work."
I replied and continued enjoying my meal.
Kagari made an innocent smile gazing at me. Her face looks cherubic. Her face looked so bright and if I stared for another second I felt like my heart would stop.
I averted my eyes to protect my life.
"I mastered cooking that monster egg… There was a time when all I eat was egg… I'm happy that you like my simple cooking." Kagari continues downing herself. Seems like she's the type of person who has a low opinion of herself.
"It's not simple at all… I love it. The effort you put to make this breakfast for me."
I feel like crying… My eye was on the verge of tears. I don't want to look lame in front of Kagari so I do my best to hold on.
This reminds me of Luna before. To think that this could happen again is like something out of a dream.
I energetically munched down everything and asked for seconds. Kagari happily gave her breakfast to me and created a new one for her.
After the fulfilling breakfast, I took my bag containing my adventurer equipment and my sword.
Kagari looked at me with confusion and asked:
"Eh? Why are you taking your adventuring equipment?"
Shoot! She didn't know to have the ability to jump through the invisible wall of the dungeon to re-explore inside without waiting for the cooldown period.
"My sword is chipping and I think I'll go visit the smith for repairs. Also, I have some of my items on sale. I'll sell it to the guild as I pass by for quick bucks… Then, after that, I'll go to my part-time job."
"What kind of part-time job you're working? Can you vouch for me? I want to have a job."
That's impossible right now. because I don't have a part-time job right now. Usually, I'm helping in the shopping district doing odd jobs. I'll take anything if it means making money.
I deeply apologize for lying.
But I can't just reveal my secret.
"My job is about lifting heavy boxes in a shipping company. I don't think it's something a girl can do… But I will ask some of my friends if they know of a job opening."
"Pfff…" She made a little giggle.
"What's funny?" I was skeptical as I tied my shoes and ready myself to go out.
"I'm surprised that you have people you call friends."
"That's rude! I may not look like it but I have few friends. I'm not a super loner type like you think."
"Usually, people with lonely eyes like you are alone. Wait, now that I'm with you. I think those lonely eyes will disappear soon."
She said and handed me a paperback. Judging from the scent it was the same special bread Amy gave to me early this morning.
"It's your share… I took the half and you take the other half… Take care of your job. I'll be here waiting for you."
Kagari sounds like a wife waiting for her husband.
Honestly, it feels so great hearing a cute girl tell me those words. Plus, Kagari is getting cuter and cuter in my eyes.
If I don't control myself I might fall in love with her for real.
I immediately averted my face away to hide my seemingly flustered face.
"Again thank you for the breakfast… While I was gone you can do anything you want. There is a gem console there you can play games or read some of my manga and light novels…"
"Take care, Rin."
I replied with a nod and waved back. Not long after I make my leave from my apartment and proceed my way to the A-rank dungeon. Serdin.
