Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Part 1: Back Among the Living

'Where am I now, my final destination?' Jaden asked himself.

As soon as he opened his eyes, Jaden wanted to first know where he was, to understand what kind of task he would begin to undertake in hell, or maybe he would just burn. But there was none of that, just a large room measuring about 215 square feet (20 square meters).

At first glance, one could immediately notice the welcoming and modern ambiance emanating from it. The walls were painted in soothing shades of light blue, creating a serene atmosphere. There were large illuminated panels to emit soft and warm light, replacing the traditional sterile hospital lights.

'Well, bravo.' thought acknowledged the beauty of the room.

The floor was covered with elegant wooden flooring, offering a pleasant contrast to the usual cold tile feeling in hospitals. Near the patient's bed, there were soft and plush carpets, creating a comfortable area for visitors.

The hospital bed itself was equipped with an ergonomic mattress, promoting rest and recovery. The cotton sheets were soft and pleasant to the touch.

'They've invested in this hospital room.' Jaden thought as he turned his head in almost every direction to get a better view of the room.

He noticed soothing illustrations adorning the walls, depicting natural landscapes and peaceful scenes, including waterfalls, beautiful forests, and more, which could contribute to relaxing the patient.

Upon closer inspection, the hospital had made everything available so that even the patient's surroundings could be a tool for their healing.

'I wonder if it's really a hospital after all.' It was too good to be true; it may be high-class, but a hospital is still a hospital.

Next to the bed, there was a small table equipped with easy access to entertainment, such as a flat-screen television, a selection of books and magazines, as well as internet access.

When his eyes fell on the furniture, he couldn't help but think desperately.

'I must be a rich kid.' If he wasn't, how would he end up in this kind of hospital?

The furniture was functional and understated, with comfortable chairs for visitors and healthcare staff. Shelves were present for storing the patient's personal belongings, making the room more organized and welcoming.

A window overlooking a large courtyard allowed natural light to enter, offering a peaceful view of the outdoors, allowing patients to enjoy the benefits of nature even while indoors.

"Can you hear me? Can you speak?" After what seemed like a long moment, a doctor began a conversation with Jaden, who was a bit too surprised to respond – he wasn't really dead?

"If you can hear me, blink twice." the doctor said, seeing the young man's confusion, probably thinking he was still traumatized.

Without wanting anyone to imagine more about him, he blinked his eyes more than twice, leaving a discreet and calm smile on the doctor's face; he probably liked the young man's character.

He had a badge with his name: Waverly, the initial of his first name: A, and his title: Doctor.

Alexander Waverly was a charismatic and captivating man in his late twenties. With his angular features and chiseled jaw, he was often compared to a character straight out of a romantic novel.

His deep blue eyes reflected not only penetrating intelligence and sincere compassion but also a great flame of enthusiasm, turning others' hearts into ice near an erupting volcano.

Doctor Waverley was one of the best doctors in the hospital despite his young age.

'I wonder if there are more sick girls than boys in this hospital.' Jaden pondered. Quite logically, an analysis, when faced with such a face.

This doctor must have been in the wrong field; you couldn't be this beautiful and talented, could you? It's cheating, this whole Dr. Waverley.

The doctor's voice was as enchanting as his appearance. He wore a light blue shirt and a much darker blue tie with white dots all along the tie under his white coat.

He had matching suit pants, of the same color as his tie, of course, without the white dots. He wore pale brown loafers – a delightful color.

"Okay, rest yourself, you've been seriously injured. It's a miracle to see you alive..." added Dr. Waverley, pausing for a moment while looking very closely at Jaden before adding:

"And in good shape."

The young man had arrived practically... dead, and suddenly, without any treatment, he had started to heal, leaving no scars, as if none of it was real, unsettling his experience.

It was true that CREDHOS had extraordinary qualities, but so far, he had never encountered such a thing, even in their world of superhumans, this return to the living was supernatural.

'A miracle? More like a curse, if what the Supreme HOUM told me is true.' Who could qualify Jaden's condition as a miracle, knowing all the "clauses" that were involved?

'This is really what they call a deal with the devil.' Jaden remarked.

'By the way, I don't have any pain, I don't feel any wounds.' He then turned his gaze to his body to inspect himself, but before he could finish, something came to his mind.

"Madam Haiko." Jaden murmured, turning his head towards the doctor. Maybe there had been a miracle for her too, perhaps...

"Did you say something?" the doctor asked because he hadn't quite heard what Jaden had said.

"Madam Haiko." he repeated without adding anything, his facial expression said it all. He wanted to know, to know what had happened to the kind lady.

However, there was no response. The doctor didn't believe that the question wasn't addressed to him, did he? There were only two of them in the room, so he could only be addressing him.

So he concluded that it might be because he had only said a name without anything else, so he decided to form a complete sentence.

"Madam Haiko, where is she? The lady I was with." He stared straight into Dr. Waverley's blue eyes.

It was at that moment that Waverley lowered his gaze slightly by lowering his head. This simple gesture was the response he had feared the most. Yet, it was the most plausible conclusion.

It's strange sometimes how people react; they refuse to believe even when the facts are there, they prefer to escape the truth, all because they're afraid of suffering. Some even go so far as to create a world in their heads just to escape reality.

"I see." Jaden said, lowering his head as well.

His voice was so heavy and low that he was probably the only one who could hear it.

"I'm sorry." Dr. Waverley said in an attempt to console him.
