After Emma helped Daniel clean his wounds the night before, he had left his shirt unbuttoned.
So when they both fell, Emma's hands rested on Daniel's bare chest and she could feel the thumping of his heart under her palm and the warmth of his body beneath hers.
The intoxicating scent of his cologne wafting into her nose didn't seem to help the situation either so Emma quickly pushed herself up, her cheeks burning a fiery red.
"I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" she stammered as she scrambled back a few inches.Daniel's gaze shifted from Emma's lips to her burning cheeks and he smiled. Then he nodded and answered, "Yes. Just a little stunned."If he knew all he needed to make her blush was fake a fall then he would have fallen over a 3654419 times!"Your back...give me your hand so I can help you up." Emma reached out shyly, sounding not so confident anymore. She had arrogantly wanted to help him up but underestimated her strength and sent them both toppling to the ground.
