Rebecca pulled back from the hug and stared at Emma endearingly, "Why? There's no need to thank me, Emma. You are like a daughter to me. Come, sit."
They both took their seats, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air as they ordered their drinks.
While waiting for their order to arrive, Rebecca studied Emma with kind, discerning eyes.
"First things first, how have you been, my dear?" Rebecca asked, genuinely interested.
In their previous conversation, Rosalie divulged a tremendous amount of information to her. She was deeply affected to learn that her friend's child had to endure an extremely difficult experience all by herself, without any support from anyone.
Even though she herself had gone through a divorce, it was a completely different situation as it happened when she was in her thirties and had a successful business to keep her distracted from the pain.
