The hospital room was eerily silent.
Qiao Dongyang looked at them and then at Chi Yue.
As if he knew what the worry in her gaze meant, he squeezed her hand and gave her a warm smile.
"Is this the whole truth? Does it disappoint you?"
It wasn't disappointment, it was an emotion even more distressing than disappointment.
Chi Yue had been more hopeful than Quan Shaoteng to hear some hidden truths from Qiao Dongyang's mouth, anything that might exonerate him. But, as things stood, Qiao Rui'an had the upper hand with evidence to support him; Qiao Dongyang's explanation, in its current form, did nothing to absolve him of guilt.
"The current situation is highly unfavorable for us," Chi Yue pursed her lips, choosing her words carefully, and gently shook his hand, softening her voice, "Qiao Dongyang, I think Leader Quan and his team are trustworthy. You can confide in him and tell him everything that happened..."
Qiao Dongyang chuckled softly.
