Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Bitten

'Alright then, let's get started.' I chime inwardly. 'System, show me the messages.'

Your evolution was successful. Your race has changed from to

'I already knew that much. Next message.'

Your race has been changed. All your experience will be reset to zilch, along with your level. Some of your skills are also not compatible with your new race, hence they will be taken away. You lack basic skills for your new race, hence you will be granted these skills. All your stats will reset to the stats of a level 1 Vampire.

'Woah. That is... That is a lot. So, I've lost five skills and gained three. Gods, this is a disaster.' I inwardly sigh as I drop to my knees, while holding my head.

"Hmm? Is everything okay, Jason?" Eron asks. He had noticed my weird behaviour and probably felt concerned about it. I, on the other hand, was freaking out. I mean, I just became a friggin vampire. Like, what the hell!

"Okay!?" I scream. "How can you ask if everything is okay? I just went back to being a level 1 wimp."

"What's a level 1?" Eron asks.

'Right. They don't classify themselves with levels.' I ignore Eron's question and try to calm myself so I can continue looking at the messages.

'System, what other messages are left?'

Next message - Power levels and features of the Vampire.

A Vampire is a being that mediates between a Human male and an Empusa. There are two ways a Vampire can come to be; either by birth or by being bitten. A or a vampire that was birthed is naturally stronger than a or a vampire that was bitten. Vampires are very rare creatures, so make sure to hide what you are if you do not wish to become an experiment.

A , which you are, is naturally plagued with some 'disadvantages'. This is because they are unnatural and are not supposed to exist, therefore causing the entire Cosmo to be against their being. however, are not plagued by these measly constraints.

As a Vampire generally, everything about you is hyped compared to humans. Your senses sharper, your emotions more delicate, your power greater along with other things. On every full moon, your already hyped stats are doubled for one minute when the moon is at its summit. On every other night, your stats increase by 50%. Drinking new blood gives you a 10% increase in your stats for about 30 minutes. Vampires are weak to Light magic and can only practice Blood magic, a forbidden and lost ancient art, also one of the few gifts that is no longer common knowledge this day. Female vampires are called and are much rarer than males because they can only come to be as

As a you need human blood at least once every moon, you do not grow older once you evolve and the only known ways to kill Vampires is either beheading or stabbing then through the heart.

I carefully read every detail and ingrained it into my brain. Basically, I am currently stronger than I was even as a level 15 human and that was a good point. However, I needed to drink human blood at least once every moon. That wasn't so hard, but I had no idea how it would taste like. I wasn't some goody two shoes who would flinch at taking an innocent person's life, though I didn't just go around killing people either. But if I needed to do it to survive, I wouldn't blink an eye before doing it.

I sighed and stood on my feet after about an hour of processing everything I had read. This evolution is basically a game changer. But instead of worrying too much, I opt to go give my old man a visit. Surely, they are worried sick. I take another look around and recognise where I am.

"Hey, Eron." I call out. "Isn't this the cave where the Caliagri dungeons is located?"

"Yes, it is." He puffs into a little version of himself and floats towards my position. "I had carried you out after finding you passed out. The dungeons was also on the verge of collapse. Perhaps it even has by now."

"Collapse? Why is that?" I ask.

"Well, someone destroyed the dungeon portal. And without the dungeon portal, there is no dungeon, understand?"

"Yeah, I get it. Anyway, how long ago was that?"

"I do not keep track of the time. If I did that, I would probably grow old out of boredom." Eron replies in a snarky manner. "Nonetheless, I suppose you would want us to leave already, no?"

"Yes. However..." I pause, unsure whether to tell him I would regret going directly under the sunlight. No matter, it's not like he won't find out eventually. "Going under direct sunlight weakens me."

"Huh? Oh, I do remember hearing something of that sort, that sunlight weakens vampires. Never thought I'd have the luxury to find out the truth though, not that I ever bothered." He ranted on and on. "So, how do you suppose we solve this issue, then?" He asks.

"Well, as much as I would love you to cover me in your Wyvern form, that would draw way too much attention, so..." I take another long look around, but find nothing of use.

"Urgh, what a drag." I grumble. "Could you perhaps find something I could use as a cover over myself that would not be too hard to carry around?" I turn to Eron for help on this one.

"Perhaps I could do that. Wait for me here." He says, before speeding off in a random direction.
