Chapter 8 - The truth

"He likes me, he likes me!" was the thought that kept roaming in Diamond's head as she ran home.

She wasn't even thinking about what the people who passed her on the streets were saying about her as she couldn't even hear them clearly. She was all drown up in the thought of Xander, the flawless looking guy. She just still couldn't believe that he confessed his feelings for her. Somehow, she considered herself a fool. This is what she has always wanted, now he has finally said the words and she just ran off like a foolish chick.

Feeling exhausted already, Diamond decided to stop by a coffee shop and sat at the front of the shop.

*************

It was already getting dark, but Yandel kept on walking, and soon enough, he started perceiving Xander's scent. He tried communicating with him with his mind, but Xander's channels were blocked.

"Prince Xander!" Yandel screamed out, not caring about the people that were around watching him

"Prince Xander!!" He kept yelling with no response

"Prince Xan...."

"Why are you screaming my name?" Xander asked behind him, cutting him short

"Prince Xander" Yandel's voice lit up as he turned around and saw Xander

"Where have you been?" He asked as he walked closer to Xander.

"You still haven't answered my question. Why are you screaming my name and who are you?"

"Pardon" Yandel arch a brow, taken aback by his weird questions.

Xander sniffed him and felt his spirit lift up by his scent.

"You are a werewolf just like me and you know me, who are you?"

"Man come on, it's me Yandel, your beta"

"Really?"

"Why are you acting strange? You are scaring me. You mean you can't recognize me?"

"I can't remember you"

"Wait, did you loss your memory?" He asked and Xander nodded.

"How come? And how did you get here?"

"I don't know. I am having a hard time trying to recover all my memories" Xander said and Yandel brushed his fingers into his hair

"Mehn... This is bad. But not too worry, I'm sure it will come around soon. For now let's go back home"

"Not yet, I still have some unfinished business to attend to" Xander said plainly.

*************

Seeing that it was already dark, Diamond stood up from where she sat and started walking home. There were fewer people on the streets now, so it was easier for her to walk freely without people gawking at her.

She knew her mum would be so mad at her already so she tried coming up with a lie to tell her, but nothing was coming to her head. Instead, the thought of Xander kept arising.

By the time she got home, she was already feeling so scared, afraid of her mother's wrath. Nevertheless, she inhaled deeply and walked into the living room. Her heart skipped three beats when she saw Nevaeh, Talon, and Bethzy sitting on different couches, all looking very angry, especially Talon.

"Finally she's back from her date" Bethzy said with a disgustful scoff.

"Jamila where are you coming from?" Nevaeh asked in an angry tone

"Mum isn't it obvious? She's coming back from a guy's house" Bethzy said

Talon stood up from where he sat, walked to Diamond and smacked her really hard across the face, making her head fall to the side

"How dare you?" He gritted.

"Jamila so you had the guts to bring in a man into my house?" Nevaeh asked in rage

"Mum I'm sorry. I was only trying to help him"Diamond whimper.

"You must be very stupid to think that we are foolish enough to believe that crab that just came out of your gutter mouth" Talon ranted in a dreadful tone.

"I can't condole your excesses anymore, so just get up and get the hell out of my house" Nevaeh half yelled

"Mum please. You can't be serious" Diamond said wide-eyed

"She said go, or are you daft?" Bethzy rolled her eyes at her.

"Mum please" Diamond pleaded in fear.

"Stop calling me mum. I am not your mother, and I can never be your mother" Nevaeh blunted out.

"Mum? I know I have done wrong, but isn't this uncalled for?" Diamond said with hurts in her heart.

"Are you okay? Your mum is in the grave, go and meet her there and stop calling my mum your mum" Bethzy said and Diamond felt a cold breeze rush through her veins.

"What!" Diamond just couldn't believe her ears.

"They are lying, yes! They must be lying" she thought.

"You've heard it all. I have just been trying to accommodate you since that your witch of a mother killed my husband, but now I can no longer keep up with it" Nevaeh spat

"No, no. This isn't possible" Diamond screamed out tears as she held her hair.

"Of course it is. She didn't want you, so she ran away after giving birth to you and came back years later to claim you, but my husband wasn't willing to let you go"Nevaeh said

"I don't know what he saw in her anyways" Bethzy muttered with a frown

"And so she killed him" Nevaeh added

"So now you see why we all hate you? Your mother killed our dad!" Talon screamed in her ears.

Diamond's head was already spinning so hard. The whole thing was just too much, too much for her to take in all at once. With tears streaming down her cheeks, she ran out of the house.

**************

The night was dull, dull and dark. It was a gloomy night, a night of sorrow. And as Diamond took each step, it seemed darker. Normally, she was dead scared of darkness and she was never seen outside at night, but this night was different. Her sadness has overshadowed her fears.

The hurtful words Nevaeh and her children said to her were still ringing bells in her ears. The thought of Nevaeh not being her biological mother never crossed her mind for once.

"Ow...ww... I shoul..d have known" her voice cracked as she muttered words.

"Know what?" A voice spoke abruptly, startling her and when she turned she saw five guys sitting on a broken fence, smoking and drinking.

A sudden fear gripped her immediately she saw their disposition, but not wanting to allow them see her fears, she continued walking, not looking back

"You are too little to walk out on us" one of them said, but she kept on walking.

"Come back now before it's too late" another said and each word they spoke drilled more fear into her.

Seeing their persistence, she immediately took to her heels, but then she started hearing loud footsteps behind her. Taking a peep, she saw four of them chasing after her. She tried running faster, but she wasn't so good at running and she was already getting exhausted.

Within the blink of an eye, one of them caught up with her and pushed her down, making her fall flat on her face.

"What is wrong with you? What do you want from me?" She yelled with fear in her heart.

"Brave huh?" The one holding her chuckled as he turned her over.

The last one who looked bigger and stronger closed the gap between them and smirked at Diamond.

"Boss?" One of them asked looking at him

"Get your hands off me this minute!" Diamond struggled all to no avail.

Their strong smell of cigarettes and alcohol was making it quite difficult for her to breathe properly.

"I give the command, not you." The boss said to her with a disgustful scorn.

"Do the needful." He said to the boys and two of them dragged Diamond to a corner.

"Let me go!" She screamed, but they weren't listening to her.

As one of them was about ripping her clothes off, they heard a clash sound and turning around they saw two of their men down.

Yandel punched one in the face, while Xander went for their leader and gave him a headbutt, followed by repeated punches, making his whole face bleed. And as the last one saw that his leader was down, he flew.

Xander walked to Diamond and gave her his hand, staring solely at her. And immediately she took it, he pulled her up and took his hands off her once she was balanced. He started walking to the opposite direction and Yandel followed him from behind.

"Wait..!" Diamond called out to him as she rushed towards where he was and they both stopped walking and turned to her.

"What? Do you want to yell at me again for interfering in your business?" Well I am sorry about that and I promise it won't happen again." Xander said and wanted to turn around and leave, but Diamond suddenly hugged him.

"Please don't leave me. I am sorry for yelling at you." She sobbed not letting go of him and Yandel furrowed his brows at her.

"Are you crying?" Xander asked feeling his shirt get wet by her tears.

"No, but I will if you go." She said even though she was already crying.

"I have to go, I can't stay here." He said feeling her emotions.

"Why?" She asked with teary eyes, looking up at him, her hands still wrapped around his waist.

"Because this is not my home." Xander said plainly.

"Then I will follow you." Diamond said, taking them aback.

"You can't come with us" Yandel blunted out.

"I can't?" She asked in a more tearful tone, taking her hands off him.

"Your family...."

"They are not my family." She half yelled, cutting him short.

"Diamond...."

"They drove me out." She interrupted him again, more tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Because of me?" He asked curiously and she nodded.

"Come." He said holding her by her wrist as he started walking again

"You can't bring her along, she's human." Yandel said to Xander in his mind, and immediately Xander blocked him off from his mind, making him growl silently.
