Chapter 2 - Cake
"There is just a flaw in your plan, a very big one. We don't even know if Rain likes guys. We never saw any of his dates."
It was said by my second brother, Gawin, ruining my happy moment after I had shared what I had in mind with him and his secretary.
"But it's definitely a good scenario, it would be a good screenplay if they pick it up, Cake. Good job."
Unlike him, Kevin congratulated me for having used it as inspiration for the screenplay I needed to write. It was a work project, something I had any idea if it would be picked up or not, yet he happily said as if he already knew my storyline would be chosen.
However, I couldn't share the happiness as I just smiled back with fake emotions that did not even show on my eyes, before moving my attention to Gawin after a simple thanks.
"Yeah. But it doesn't mean we can't find it out, brother. I know very well that you, better than us all, could easily do it with a snap of your fingers. You always did when we tried to hide from grandpa or were dating someone he wouldn't approve of."
Grandpa was an old stubborn Taiwanese man. He was very clear about what kind of people he allowed to date with us, his grandchildren.
And although he was quite open in other senses as he didn't care if this person was a male or female, his standards were very high when related with other stuff, including family background, education, and how sincere and honest they were about the intentions of dating one of us.
"Yes, I can. But it doesn't mean I had even found something like this about Rain. All the partners he had before not even showed in my radar, and I just found he was dating someone when he told us he had broken up with them."
Showing off how he had always been a grandpa's spy among us, Gawin didn't care about pretending when he answered me back.
"But besides that, apologize to Kevin. He was being nice with you, so you should act as such a spoiled brat with him, or I will never allow him to compliment you ever again."
… Nevertheless, nothing was more important for him than making me apologize to Kevin, who besides being his secretary was also our childhood friend and had grown most of the time in this very same house with us as his family worked for grandpa.
His mother was our housekeeper, my nanny for a while, and his father started as grandpa's driver, later becoming our father's secretary until he passed away. So, due to it, we were all closer to Kevin, yet no one could win over Gawin…
These two had a unspokable bond, something shared only between them, but it was a matter to be talked about another time.
"Sorry, brother Kevin… I didn't mean to be mean, but I just do have time to lose. Grandpa is already talking about sending out the invitations, and how they have found the perfect auspicious date for us! Two months from now!!"
Wanting to pull out all of my hair, I started to apologize until I recalled all the things grandpa had told me yesterday when he came back with the biggest smile on his face, making me regret I had gone out with him when he invited me early.
"Two months? Wow, Cake! You fight a completely lost battle." Kicking me off my high horse, Gawin didn't hide his feeling once again when he started to laugh about my distress. "You should start to pick your wedding dress instead of trying to play the matchmaker."
But I will not! I won't give up!
