The sun was just beginning to rise when Kael Darkthorn woke up in his dorm at the Arcane Academy. His eyes were still heavy with sleep, but his mind was sharp as a blade. He knew that every second counted in his relentless quest for the ultimate knowledge of Energiomancy.
Kael quickly dressed and left the dormitory, ignoring the other students who were starting to move across campus. He had no time for commoners or to form alliances with those who were not worthy of his ambition.
His first destination was the library, where he had read about the Oracle of Eternal Knowledge. Kael knew he needed more information, but he also knew the library was dangerous terrain. Other students might be after the same knowledge, and he couldn't let anyone stand in his way.
Kael browsed the shelves of books, looking casual as he discreetly watched the movements of his classmates. He saw Liliana talking to a group of Energiomancers, sharing information and ideas. It was the kind of behavior he despised. Alliances were a weakness.
While Liliana distracted her colleagues with her kindness and friendliness, Kael crept up to a shelf where an ancient book was hidden. It was a dusty, forgotten volume, with yellowed pages and faded letters. Kael picked it up and examined it. The title read "The Ruins of the Lost Temple".
With a smug smile, Kael took the book and hid it under his robes. He was about to walk away when he felt a presence behind him. It was Liliana, her blue eyes filled with concern.
"Kael, you look worried. What are you doing here?" she asked, leaning over to look at the book.
Kael quickly turned away, hiding the book behind his back. He forced a fake smile.
"Don't worry, Liliana. Just seeking knowledge, like the rest of us."
Liliana frowned, but she seemed willing to believe him.
"You know, Kael, academia is a place of cooperation and knowledge sharing. It's not just about power."
Kael made a vague gesture with his hand.
"Of course, Liliana, you were always the idealist. But power is what matters in the end."
He walked away quickly, leaving Liliana behind. He couldn't waste any more time with useless conversations. His next destination was to find out more about the Ruins of the Lost Temple and how they could lead him to the Oracle of Eternal Knowledge.
Kael spent hours researching the book in the shadows of the library, taking meticulous notes and drawing maps. He was determined to be the first to find the temple and gain the Oracle's blessing. Nothing would stop him, not even his fellow Energiomancers.
