Chapter 1 - Chapter 0 - Prologue

The cliff of Mount Olympus was heated on this day, as it should be, because possibly the biggest battle after the end of Gigantomachia and possibly even after the Titanomachia is taking place here.

'Should I fight him properly? Even for a God he is quite weak. He's not weak, but still not strong enough to be compared to Zeus or Hades without the ocean around him. I expected more from him. Should I amp up the fight?' was the thing running through my mind when I was dodging Poseidon's attack. His trident cried out and poured more water on the battlefield, while I swiftly dodged his attacks while trying to look as into the fight as he was, so as to not disrespect him and the whole of Olympus. After all, I want to make 'it' look as natural as possible.

'Guess I should fasten things up,' I thought to myself, before summoning a thundercloud above my head using Zeus' electricity, a power these Gods themselves bestowed upon the Champion of Gigantomachia. Lightning bolts start getting shot from my fingertips, as I try to dodge Poseidon's waves, which came more agitated and less controlled as the God to lose it, while he also dodged my attacks quite frequently.

His frantic attacks were slowing down, but becoming more consistent. There must be some fault to this once erratic attack pattern, I thought to myself. While I was scanning for such cracks, a few of his attacks even got to me, which I was barely able to dodge by the skin on my teeth. Just that crack. I just need that attacking point.

Got it.

Once I spotted a crack in his guard, I tried to move my body and my lightning bolts towards that crack, but as soon as I stepped near him, thunderous waves came down like hell on me, pushing me back about ten feet or so. I side-stepped when I was struck by the waves to reduce the impact of the waves, but still felt off-balance for a few seconds. I try to maintain my balance when I hear a chuckle break the silence. It was Poseidon.

"Not so strong now, eh? Weren't you supposed to be stronger than all of the Gods present here, Georgios? Where's your might gone," asked my opponent, while grinning. He started coughing up blood in a few seconds, probably due to overexerting himself. This bastard, spewing such worthless shit while he looks like he's the one on death's bed. He started to get ready.

He dashed towards me in a fighting stance. I maintain my figure while calculating all the directions his attacks could come from. He started with a stab towards my chest, which I swayed away while landing a punch in his right. I felt the crunch of a few bones. He took a few steps back, analyzed his chest, then threw his trident in my directions. I caught the trident, shifting all my focus towards it, and then threw it down. This small window of time gave Poseidon the time to manage a punch on my face. I definitely heard something break, probably his knuckles.

He started laughing again.

I wish I could give him a retort right now, like how I'm not even trying, but I have to maintain that struggling look. If the Gods find out Even if I can deal with this bastard in my condition right now, I can't say the same for the rest of the Gods. Even they are not here to support me. Tears began trickling down my cheeks once I remembered their happy faces.

I wipe away my tears, and brush away all the sad thoughts. I must focus on the match if I want to see them.

「You can only die in a true battle.」

That Apollo, because of him I've got to do this stuff. I'll make sure to beat the daylights out of him if he dies. But for that, I have to die first. I've got to purposefully lose this battle against a weakened Poseidon.

"Hey Posy, let's make this battle a bit fair for the both of us. I know you're weaker without your ocean so why not summon one here. I'm sure Olympus can do that. Also, since I have your powers, it wouldn't be that disadvantageous for me," I announced to not Poseidon, but the people backing him. Olympus. These Gods are arrogant enough to take the bait. Now the stage has been set up. It's up to the actors to do their parts.

"Aren't you a bit too cocky for a measly mortal, Georgios? Fine, we accept your offer, but you can't heal using the water. Poseidon has no such restrictions," said the Gods' messenger, and then an even bigger thundercloud appeared in the sky, above the peak of Mount Olympus. I couldn't help but be captured by this view.

"Oh sure," I said nonchalantly, while waiting for the pond to form. It took a few minutes for the pond to form, and then the battle resumed. Poseidon, using all his might from the first second. His trident cast the path for the waves to follow, and when I tried to create an opportunity to escape, but as if the water gained its own will, it pushed down further on me.

I tried to control the waves, and with little success, was able to move out of the water's path. Or so I thought. He pushed with all his might, and the water took different shapes while putting a crushing weight on me. It took the shape of crescent blades and even the shape of his signature trident. He tried to attack me with these weapons, but using his powers, I was able to escape his grasp.

"Guess I should also start using my powers, eh Posy," I made a retort, which agitated him even more. I summoned forth a blade made of water, to fight against his weapons, and wrapped my body in lightning. "I should thank you guys for this shit. Thanks Olympus," I screamed at the top of my lungs so that the Gods could me as clear as a crystal.

The exasperated Poseidon, having lost all his rationality, dashed towards me, having the same weapon choice as me. He tried to get a sweep in at my legs, which I avoided by pushing the lightning towards his blade, which stunned the divine fish, then, without missing the opening, I slashed forward at his arms, leaving a deep gash on his right bicep. He groaned in pain, and I chuckled, "Stings, doesn't it?"

Then, suddenly, I felt something empty in my chest. Finally. It took you long enough to do this. Poseidon, while I was laughing at his wound, managed to land the blow I had wanted to receive ever since the beginning of this match. He had used the arms in his hands as a cover for the wave-driven trident waiting for me, expecting that I wouldn't anticipate such an attack in the heat of the battle. Well, I did expect him to do something similar.

He pulled it out. A hole bigger than my head was left in my chest

I coughed up blood. "Thanks, Posy. You finally did what you were supposed to do."

He was laughing. The whole crowd of the Gods was laughing. It wasn't because Poseidon won such a battle, but it was because they got rid of me. I laid my back against the floor. I coughed up even more blood while lying down. Maybe this was my "true battle". I started to lose consciousness, not before feeling that someone was trying to destroy my body.

It was probably the Gods trying to save themselves if by chance this wasn't my true battle. Whatever suits them I guess, considering I want to spend my time in the afterlife now.

***

Or so I thought. Once I opened my eyes again, it was dark. Nothing everywhere. My body felt...like it was not there. Is this my soul? So this is what happens when someone dies, huh. They become an incorporeal body in the nothingness.

There was a light. I tried to dash towards it with my legs, but I was pulled back by something. I tried again. And again. And again. Nothing worked. I saw some other ethereal figures pass by me, towards the light. I tried to follow them, still being pulled back. That's when I figured it out.

Something is wrong here.
