Chapter 17 - Confession

As they ate, Siddharth could see she was unnerved. Her hands were so shaky that it was difficult for her to eat properly.

"You want some water?" He asked, offering her a glass of water.

She accepted it and drank it in two big gulps before taking a deep breath.

Not daring to meet his gaze, she kept her head lowered and thanked him, "T-Thank you."

"It's okay. Just don't be so nervous." Siddharth said, to which she gave him a brief nod before focusing on eating. Seeing this, Siddharth also didn't try to talk and silently ate his food.

After a while, they finished eating, cleaned their teeth, and sat down in the living room—Siddharth on one end of the sofa and Shweta on the other end, her fingers crossed in nervousness and her thumbs flicking against each other.

Sitting there, she looked like a shy, young bride who was about to have her first experience. This sharp contrast to her mature self made her look irresistible to Siddharth, and he had to use all his willpower to stop himself from jumping her, pushing her down, and having his way with her.

Of course, it didn't mean he was going to just sit there and wait for her to overcome her nervousness, especially because it didn't seem like she could do it on her own anytime soon.

So, he scooted over to her side, gently grabbed her fidgety hands, leaned over, and whispered in her ear, while inhaling her hair's tempting fragrance, "Don't be nervous. I won't eat you."

Feeling his hot breath on her ear, she felt a jolt of electricity course through her body and trembled.

"I-I know. I'm s-sorry." She managed to say.

Siddharth shook his head, "There is nothing to be sorry about." He then gently lifted her chin up, looked into her eyes her watery eyes before leaning in, capturing her lips velvety in his.

Shweta gasped in his mouth and tried to push him away, though her push didn't have much strength. Ignoring it, he put his right hand on the back of her head and placed his left on her thick thigh, slowly caressing it and gradually reaching upwards and inside.

Shweta's breathing became rough, and she unconsciously opened her mouth to kiss him back when she realised what she was doing. She panicked and clamped her thighs before pulling herself back and breaking the kiss.

Though dissatisfied, Siddharth had a slight smile hanging on his lips. He could feel it wasn't long before she surrendered herself fully to him.

Ha! Ha!

Shweta took a few deep breaths, trying to calm his throbbing nerves and pounding heart.

After a few moments, she gathered her courage, looked at him in the eyes and immediately felt her heart rate increase. So, she averted her gaze and looked at his chest instead before saying in a low voice,

"I-I have a question. I hope you truthfully answer it."

"I will. Just ask." Siddharth nodded, a serious expression appearing on his face. Since whatever question she was going to ask him was important to her, he wanted to show her he was serious and wasn't taking her lightly.

Shweta was silent for a moment, struggling to voice the question. Then, she clenched her fists and asked,

"Do you really like me and really want to… do this? Or is it only because you think I'm an easy target, use me and then leave me?"

As she spoke, her voice grew solemn and slightly cold, which was completely unlike her usual 'docile' nature.

Siddharth wasn't surprised by this change because it was really important to her. No matter how much affinity and intimacy points he has with her, if she thought he was just playing with her, he was sure she would immediately throw him out and maybe do something worse, like calling police?

It was as if the system also agreed with him because as soon as she finished asking the questions, the [Affinity] and [Intimacy] points started blinking, indicating everything depended on his answers.

Siddharth, of course, knew he had to mean everything he said if he wanted to convince her.

Therefore, he sat straight, gently grabbed her hands and looked into her eyes, depths of which held a mixture of anticipation, nervousness, fear and other conflicting emotions.

After a few moments of silence, he spoke, his expression sincere and voice a little emotional,

"When I moved in this building and despite knowing I was somewhat of an antisocial person, you came to greet me with that warm smile on your face, I developed a small crush on you. Of course, I didn't realize it then."

"After that, whenever you saw me, you greeted me with that same sunny smile and each time you did that, I would feel happy and no matter how much bad my day was, it would become better. Then without knowing when, my feelings for you became deeper and if you weren't married and I wasn't so insecure about myself, I would've confessed to you."

After a pause, he continued, "I'm telling all this so you know, I'm not doing it because I wanted to take advantage of weakness for my lustful desires or anything but because I really like you and care for you. If you hadn't told me how your husband was cheating on you, neglecting and how depressed you were, I wouldn't have even thought of becoming closer to you like this."

After he finished speaking, he held his breath, awaiting her response. He wasn't sure if this could convince her but apart from this, nothing else came to his mind.

Shweta looked at him in silence for at least 2 minutes, making him nervous just like she was a while ago.

"Shweta… mmpf!"

Feeling uncomfortable under her silent gaze, he opened his mouth to speak but before he could say anything, she threw herself at him, her lips capturing his for a passionate kiss.

He was stunned for a moment before he realized what this meant and his heart leapt up in joy.
