Chapter 2 - Straw Hats Arrival

The next day, Naruto found himself nearly healed, and Gaimon was surprised by the speed of his recovery. Without much fanfare, Naruto decided to explore the island, leaving Gaimon to his own devices.

Naruto ventured into the Island of Rare Animals in the East Blue, taking in the sights and sounds of the unfamiliar environment. The dense foliage and the vibrant wildlife surrounded him as he moved further into the unknown. It was a simple exploration, but Naruto was eager to see what this place had to offer.

As Naruto explored the island, he came across a variety of strange and peculiar creatures. It seemed like a menagerie of nature's oddities. There were snakes with rabbit-like ears, goats with tiger-like tails, and many more unique and fantastical animals. Each encounter brought a sense of wonder and curiosity, as he marveled at the island's diverse and peculiar wildlife. Naruto continued his simple exploration, taking in the sights and enjoying the novelty of this unfamiliar world.

The novelty of these strange animals served as a constant reminder of just how far he was from his home. The unfamiliarity of this world weighed on him, but Naruto pressed on, determined to adapt and explore the island further.

As Naruto continued his exploration of the island, on a boat not far from the Island of Rare Animals, a lively scene unfolded. Luffy and Nami were engaged in a conversation while Zoro was sound asleep.

Luffy, holding his beloved straw hat, excitedly exclaimed, "It's fixed!"

Nami, who had been mending the hat, replied with a hint of exasperation, "I just mended the cut. I think that should do it. Try not to poke it too much, Luffy."

Luffy, his attention elsewhere, didn't quite register Nami's warning. He grinned and playfully poked a hole into his hat, which resulted in a loud "zubo" sound.

Nami's patience reached its limit, and she angrily poked Luffy in the head with a needle, scolding him, "Didn't you hear what I just said?"

Luffy let out a yelp of pain, clutching his head. "Yaaaaaa! Stop poking me, it hurts!"

Zoro, who had been awakened by the commotion, interjected with a grumble, "You guys are too noisy. I can't sleep like that. By the way, I'm hungry. Share some food."

Nami rolled her eyes at Luffy and Zoro's lack of preparation. "Oh, please. You need to be more prepared. You don't bring food and water, and you dare go out to sea. You've underestimated the sea."

Luffy's attention was suddenly drawn to something in the distance. He pointed excitedly and exclaimed, "Ah, I see something!"

Nami and Zoro turned their gaze in the direction Luffy was pointing,

Luffy's excitement was uncontainable as he exclaimed, "Hey! There's an island!"

Nami, using binoculars to get a better look, quickly assessed the situation. "That island is no good. It's unpopulated, so it's just useless. Let's just keep going."

However, before Nami could complete her statement, Luffy was already rowing toward the island.

Nami angrily yelled, "Wait"

But Luffy, with his characteristic optimism, called back, "Let's see if we can find someone who would join us there!"

Zoro also chimed in, "Let's look for food there. You know, Nami was right. We seem to have no plans."

Nami couldn't help but shake her head at the impulsive nature of luffy.

Luffy grinned as the rowboat approached the mysterious, uncharted island. "We've reached the isolated island!" he exclaimed.

Nami looked out at the dense forest that stretched as far as the eye could see. "There's nothing here but forest. Like I said, this is an unpopulated island. It would be weird if you found someone for the crew."

Luffy, undeterred, turned toward the rowboat. "Hey, Zoro, come over here!"

Zoro replied in his usual laconic manner, Come in the form... zzz... zzz... He was fast asleep, his snores filling the air.

Nami watching over her slumbering crewmate. "Let him sleep, Luffy. He's still injured from our last battle."

Luffy, with his ever-present sense of adventure, started moving toward the dense forest. "Let's go into the forest!" he declared with excitement.

Nami, on the other hand, attempted to discourage him. She knew that an unpopulated island with a mysterious forest might hold unexpected dangers. But Luffy, driven by curiosity, was undeterred.

As they ventured deeper into the forest, they came across a menagerie of exotic animals—a snake with rabbit-like ears, a pig with a lion's mane, and other creatures that defied explanation. The forest seemed to teem with life.

Suddenly, a stern voice echoed from within the forest, warning them, "Don't come closer. Get out!"

Luffy asked, "What was that sound?"

Nami, more cautious, questioned, "Who are you?"

Once more, the voice emerged from the forest, revealing, "I am the forest guardian."

Luffy repeated, "Forest guardian?"

Again, the voice asserted, "That's right. If you want to live, then leave at once. You are pirates, right?"

Luffy, with his trademark nonchalant attitude, confirmed, "Yes." Nami, curious about the forest guardian's question, asked, "Why did he ask that?"

Luffy attempted to locate the source of the voice, taking a step forward. But the voice issued a grave warning, "Listen well. Don't take another step into the forest, or else you will face the forest's judgment."

Luffy, unfazed, replied with a hint of amusement, "Who cares? What a weird guy."

The voice, now irritated, retorted, "Hey, the brat with the straw hat! What did you say?"

Nami, growing impatient, yelled, "Where are you? Come out!"

Despite Nami's concern, Luffy took another step forward, prompting the voice to issue a final warning. Then, a gunshot rang out, and a bullet drilled into Luffy's body however the bullet bounced off harmlessly.

Nami asked about what had just transpired. "That was a bullet, right? It doesn't hurt you?"

Luffy in surprise responded. "yea but that surprised me to".

Luffy spotted an unusual sight—a large chest and a gun in front of it they suspect gunshot came from here. The chest attempted to escape but tripped over a stone, falling flat on its face. It then called out to Luffy for help.

As their conversation proceeds Gaimon, as he introduced himself, proceeded to share his story. He explained that he and his pirate crew had come to this island in search of treasure. However, despite their efforts, they couldn't find the treasure they sought.

In a last attempt, Gaimon had climbed a tall cliff to get a better look, spotting what he believed to be countless treasure chests. He had eagerly yelled for his crew to come and claim the newfound riches. However, his climb ended tragically when he fell from the cliff and landed on top of one of the treasure chests. To his shock, he found himself stuck inside the chest.

His pirate crew, unaware that he was trapped inside the chest, had left the island without him, unintentionally abandoning him. Gaimon had remained trapped inside the chest for a staggering 20 years.

Standing at the base of the cliff, Gaimon sighed and looked out into the forest. "It's been so long since I came here," he muttered, a hint of melancholy in his voice.

Luffy, always straightforward, couldn't help but ask, "But why haven't you asked anyone to help you before?"

Gaimon's gaze shifted to the ground as he replied, "Because I don't trust anybody. And anyone who sees me like this wouldn't believe me anyway." He paused for a moment, then continued, "But yesterday, a kid named Naruto arrived on the island. I was going to ask him for his help once he fully healed. Anyway, I've waited for this moment for so long. Today is the happiest day of my life."

Nami, intrigued by the mention of another person on the island, asked, "Wait, is there someone else here besides you?"

Luffy, always eager for new encounters, chimed in, "Where is he?"

Gaimon continued his story, explaining, "Well, yesterday, as I was going about my day in the forest, I stumbled upon an injured kid, around 12-13 years old, lying in the woods. He claimed to be a ninja from something called the Leaf Village, and miraculously, he's nearly healed from a life-threatening injury within a day. Now, he's gotten bored, which is why he went exploring the island."

Upon hearing that the injured kid was a ninja, both Luffy and Nami exclaimed in surprise, "Ninja!" Luffy's eyes is filled with stars.

Luffy couldn't contain his excitement and exclaimed, "I want to meet him!"

Nami, however, shook her head in disbelief. "Ninja isn't real. I think it's just some kid playing ninja," she said skeptically.

In response to Nami's doubt, Luffy made a long face, disappointed that his hopes of meeting a real ninja were being challenged.

Luffy was eager to find the ninja kid said, "Let's go find him!"

But Nami stopped him, saying, "First, we need to go up there."

Luffy asked, "You want me to climb up there?"

Nami replied, "Of course! Do you think I can climb?"

Gaimon added, "I'm counting on you, Straw Hat kid."

Luffy replied with a determined nod, "Okay." With that, he stretched his hand, grabbing the top of the cliff and launching himself to the summit.

Upon reaching the top, Luffy spotted the treasure chests and exclaimed, "There really are treasure chests! Five of them!"

Gaimon was extremely happy and said, "That's great! Quickly, drop them here, but don't hit me! Wahahaha!"

Luffy, however, replied, "No way."

Nami urged, "What are you saying? Hurry up and drop them here!"

Gaimon then surprised them with his response, "Forget about it. It's okay if he doesn't want to drop them here."

Nami was puzzled. "How can that be okay? That's your treasure!"

Gaimon, with tears in his eyes, revealed, "Straw Hat kid, you're a good person."

Confused, Nami asked, "What are you saying?"

Gaimon explained with emotion, "I actually thought about it before. It might be a possibility, but I always tried not to think about it. The treasure chests are empty, aren't they?"

Nami exclaimed in surprise, "Ah! How can that be? You guarded these treasure chests for 20 years, and they're just a bunch of empty chests?"

Luffy couldn't help but laugh heartily, "Hahahahahahahahaha! Don't be dissatisfied, uncle. Meeting us after these 20 years is a good thing too, because if it had been 30 years, you might be dead."

With emotion, Gaimon addressed Luffy as "Straw Hat kid" and said, "Don't worry, there is still the great treasure, One Piece, waiting for us. Will you join us, uncle?"

Gaimon asked in surprise, "You're inviting me?"

Their conversation continued, with Luffy asking, "Uncle, are you sure you're really going to stay on this island?"

Gaimon expressed his gratitude, "Thank you for inviting me, but I still want to be the forest guardian. However, I want you to please grant my request to take away the kid. Because he is adamant about going to the Grand Line. I tried to discourage him, but he is just like you, Straw Hat kid. So, will you take him?"

Naruto had just arrived at the scene, greeted by the sight of a teen with a straw hat and a girl with orange hair talking to Gaimon. Curious, he asked Gaimon, "Who are these people?"

Before Gaimon could respond, Luffy suddenly dashed across the distance between them, grabbing Naruto's shoulder with stars in his eyes. "You're a ninja, right? Show me some Ninjutsu, please!"

Naruto, feeling uncomfortable with the close proximity, swiftly used a substitution jutsu. In an instant, he replaced himself with a wood log, leaving behind the stunned Gaimon and Nami, as well as the amazed Luffy.

A voice then came from a nearby tree, where the trio once stood. They turned to see something that left them all astonished. Naruto was now standing upside down in the tree, his feet firmly gripping the bottom of a branch.

Nami, Gaimon, and Luffy watched in amazement as Naruto hung upside down. Naruto, pointed towards Luffy and asked, "Who is this weird guy?"

Luffy, with his characteristic enthusiasm, exclaimed, "Hey, you should join my pirate crew!"

Naruto, not quite understanding what Luffy was talking about, asked, "What are you talking about?"

Nami, recovering from her initial shock at the existence of a ninja, muttered to herself, "Ninjas exist." Then, realizing what Luffy had asked, she continued, "Still, Luffy, isn't he too young to join a pirate crew?"

Luffy responded confidently, "But haven't you heard, uncle? He's adamant about going to the Grand Line. If we don't take him, he'll go on his own."

Nami replied with some reservations, "Still..."

Luffy's excitement was undeterred as he added, "Moreover, we get to have a ninja on our crew!"

Naruto, not quite following the conversation, grew frustrated and yelled, "Hey, you guys, what are you talking about, and who are you guys?"

Luffy took the opportunity to introduce himself, saying, "I am Monkey D. Luffy, the man who is going to be the King of the Pirates." Nami tried to interject, but Luffy continued, "And this is Nami, our crew navigator."

Nami, now a bit irritated, yelled "No, I am not!"

Luffy ignored Nami's correction and explained, "So, we are headed to the Grand Line to find the greatest treasure, One Piece."

Naruto, eyes filled with amazement, exclaimed, "Oh, cool!" But then confusion crept in, and he asked, "But what is a pirate?"

Both Nami and Gaimon comically fell to the ground in disbelief. Nami, with a hint of anger, said, "You don't know what a pirate is?"

Luffy, with his typical charm, explained his version of pirates, "Pirates are people who go out to sea to look for adventure. I'm going to find One Piece and become the King of the Pirates."

Naruto asked with genuine curiosity, "Why?"

Luffy replied with a grin, "Because the freest person in the ocean is the Pirate King."

Naruto, already drawn to Luffy's adventurous spirit, introduced himself enthusiastically, "I'm Naruto Uzumaki, and I'm determined to surpass all the Hokages and become the greatest Hokage in history."

Nami, curious about the term "Hokage," inquired, "What's a Hokage?"

With a grin on his face, Naruto explained, "Hokage is the strongest ninja in my village, essentially the leader who protects it."

Nami turned to Gaimon and chuckled, "I can see why you mentioned he's similar to Luffy."

Their conversation flowed naturally as they got to know each other better.

Eventually, Naruto decided to join Luffy's crew, and Luffy introduced him to Zoro. Zoro, skeptical about Naruto being a ninja, playfully pestered him to demonstrate some jutsu. Naruto agreed and performed his signature Shadow Clone Jutsu, leaving the entire crew stunned.

Luffy, with his characteristic grin also revealed, that he ate the Gum-Gum Fruit, which turned his whole body into rubber.

Naruto, recognizing the concept of Devil Fruits, nodded in understanding and amazement.

With their camaraderie solidified, they bid farewell to Gaimon and left the island behind, embarking on their next adventure.
