"Who?" Flustered, Samantha looked here and there as if another person was in the box chamber apart from them.
"I am talking to you, Samantha." The doctor scanned her agitation and sensed the presence of a new male figure there. She was hiding behind him, so it didn't take much time for him to understand that he might be her boyfriend. She was pretending to be unknown, to keep everything secret.
He adjusted his high-power glasses and fixed his position in that small space. Alvin gave a brief smile out of curiosity.
Alvin became curious about Samantha's relationship with the doctor, but it was not the correct time to ask. Soon, they reached the second floor. The doctor left quickly. Alvin tapped her hand as she stood there with closed eyes, murmuring something.
"Let's go." He whispered.
She nodded, and they both came out of the elevator. The way to the doctor's cabin was long, but she felt that it passed incredibly quickly. When she reached there, she noticed the cabin was close to her mother's ward. She gulped in fear. Both of them entered the cabin, and Samantha felt relief when she learnt that the doctor was not the same as the one treating her mother.
"Hello, doctor," Alvin said, greeting him warmly.
"Oh, hello, Alvin. Long time, no see." Campbell gave him a warm hug after standing from the chair.
"What's the occasion to visit a commoner like me today?" Campbell teased him.
"Oh, don't be so ridiculous. You didn't change until now." Alvin grunted.
"Meet my lady, Samantha." He pointed towards her, chirping.
It sank her heart; his love for her knew no boundaries. He was never ashamed of hiding their relationship from anyone, and the guilt was mounting every moment.
"Hello, Doctor." She greeted nervously.
"So tell me, what happened?" Campbell asked firmly, sitting back in his chair.
Samantha and Alvin adjusted themselves in the chairs against the doctor's table.
Her lips agape to say something, but he chimed in.
"She fainted in the middle of our conversation. So I just got worried if it's just the stress of something or nothing else." Alvin explained the main reason for their visit.
"No, he is just crazy. He always wants me to wrap him in cotton wool." Samantha lightly spanked his arm.
"No worries. We will check regularly, and you will be all right." Campbell chuckled slightly at their tactics.
"No need, doctor, I am feeling perfectly fine." She looked flustered. Staying more in the place was shooting up her anxiety.
In no time, it will be visible on her face.
After much bickering, she agreed to the check-up. Campbell pressed the bell near the table, and a female nurse entered the room.
The doctor and nurse then went to the check-up room, followed by Samantha. The pitapatting sound of Samantha's heart could be heard from afar.
Soon after a few minutes, they all come out. His anticipatory waiting was over.
Once seated, he immediately asked, "Is everything alright?" In the meantime, the nurse brought an injection. He looked flustered by all this.
"Everything is fine. She needs some rest, that's all. It would be best if you took better care of her. I am giving her an injection. It will help her mind relax, and she will sleep for some time. It's much needed." Campbell explained a bit.
It made sense to him. She was stressed for a few days, and it was always visible on her face. That's why he brought that mansion for her so she could be at peace.
"What else to say? Finish it off as quickly as possible." An annoyance was dripping from her words. She flexed her arm and folded the sleeve to expose her silky skin.
The desires and lust started to overpower Alvin; he couldn't take his eyes off her.
"Ugh," Campbell coughed a little to distract him.
"You are in the hospital, brother." He jogged his mind and chuckled under his breath.
The situation became embarrassing for all of them. 'Where did I get stuck today?' this question roamed in all of their brains at the moment; however, it was in a different context.
"Let's go, then. I need some air." Samantha quickly got up from the chair. Her crimson red cheeks took on a deeper shade. His statement gave her a chance to disappear in thin air.
"Well, bro. Let's meet up at some other time. I'll catch you later." Alvin gave a bear hug and left the room after nodding.
She had to get away from there as quickly as possible. No strength was left to face any new drama there. With long strides, she was going towards the elevator.
"Sam, wait for me," Alvin said to stop the elevator. But she was so enraged with herself that she didn't notice that he was calling her to wait.
She reached downstairs with a poker face. Alvin followed her after reaching down from a different lift, almost running behind her. Everyone in the reception area looked at the drama happening in front of their eyes, maybe curiously, with envy or jealousy.
But it was not the end of the day; something more surprising or, one can say, hard to swallow ahead.
This place quickly became a nightmare for her; she couldn't notice the person in front of her, and she got bumped in.
"Are you alright?" She quickly got up and helped the old lady in front of her.
Nobody had the slightest hint of what God was planning for her. Her mother was in front of her with Martin. What could be worse? Her mother was there on one side, and on the other, Alvin. Only Martin knew everything about her, all the plans and plotting. But why would he help her?
Any time, he was ready to devour her like a vulture. If she takes his help today, it will give him the upper hand, and she will have to dance on his fingers after Derek. It seems she has to find a middle way as quickly as possible.
But to her bad luck, the envious nurse reached the spot where the incident happened. And before she could think, Alvin also stepped in.
"What happened here?" Asked Alvin quizzically.
"Oh, Alvin, it's just…." Her throat dried up.
What she was about to say might break one or more hearts.
