On seeing Perry Gustav pause and go back, the driver released a breath he had held in check.
Although it wasn't a surprise, he still felt like a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
The driver resented this; it was clear he was the victim here. Why was he so frustrated!
"So? Do you have something to say now?" Perry Gustav asked.
"Before that, I would like to know, if I tell everything, will you let me go?" the driver asked, "If you want to cause trouble for Ethan Zhekova, go ahead."
"But would you take me out of the picture and let me off the hook?" the driver asked again.
Perry Gustav laughed, saying, "Man, what are you thinking? You conspired with others to assault people. As we are striving to be good youths of the socialist era, we certainly can't protect criminals, can we?"
What Perry Gustav meant was specific—they wouldn't help the driver at all.
