Around eleven at night, Jen and I set out to our first target. The furniture store from earlier was the easiest of the three places we would be breaking into. The alarm system was only placed on the doors from what I could tell, and since the warehouse was made of bricks, well, nothing was stopping me from making my own door.

When we arrived, it was close to midnight. I had Jen stand to the side in the dark while I pressed my hand against the bricks. Since it was all made from earthen materials that meant my earth manipulation skill could also be used on it. I quickly made a new entrance to the warehouse, and the two of us walked in without setting off any alarms.

"What was the name of that bed again?" I planned to take everything, but I had to make sure I put my little wife's mattress in a separate slot.

"This one here!" Jen was filled with excitement. I guess maybe because this was her first time doing a breaking and entering, or maybe she was excited about the new bed? Either way, she was happy, so it did not matter.

I quickly stored all the mattresses that Jen had picked out into a new slot. Since she liked it, I would not give them to others. After that, I basically stole everything inside. I mean, I cleaned the entire place out from top to bottom. I made sure to leave the dust and cobwebs, though. Only took the items.

I did not touch the showroom. Many people had touched the things there, so I did not want them. With the stuff I had, I could at least furnish a hundred bedrooms or more. I had no idea how much I really had until I took stock of everything, which I would leave to robots to do after I made them.

After we left the furniture store, we headed to the robotics store. This place we had to be a bit more careful at since it was in a more public area. The nightlife of the city was not big, but there were a few bars down the street, so people were still coming and going even at this hour.

Jen hugged my arm as we walked down the street. People were laughing and talking as they stumbled home from the bars. We stayed to the side, not wanting anyone to take notice of us. When we arrived at the robotics store, I took the back alley to get to the back door. This place did have a camera at the back with a light, but that was no big deal. I pressed my hand on the building itself next to the stairs, where it was darker, and made a hole just big enough for Jen and me to sneak through. This way, if someone saw it, they would struggle to get in. I guarded Jen while she crawled in first before entering myself.

When I stood up, I felt like I was in heaven. I blocked the entrance with a box before I turned the lights on in the back room and looked at the dozens of boxes of robotic parts, feeling a little giddy. I was like a little kid in a candy store. I quickly began swiping things.

"Ai, the front windows are shuttered, so I think we should be okay." Jen had taken a peek out front for me. She was such a diligent little wife.

"Thanks, Jen. I will be out there soon. This place has some good stuff!" I couldn't hide the smile on my face. When I snuck a peek at Jen, she was watching me with a smile on her face. I was happy this girl could finally smile again.

I finished what I was doing, walked over to her, pulled her close, and kissed her lips. "Jen, thank you for trusting me so much. I promise to do everything I can to ensure your safety and give you the best life possible in an apocalypse."

"I trust you because you have always tried to help me without asking me anything in return," Jen replied as she kissed me back.

"Well, now I can since you are my little wife," I said teasingly. This caused Jen to blush and nod. It seemed she liked being called my little wife. I gave her another peck on the cheek before letting her go and saying: "We should hurry. I want to get to the next place before three AM."

"Okay!" Jen began helping me grab things. She took a basket and began pulling anything not tied down off the walls and then would bring me the basket when it was full. She did not need to do anything, but since she seemed happy doing it, I just let her do her thing.

When we cleaned up the robotics shop, we quickly made our way to the next street over to the electronics store. This place had many things I needed as well, one being security cameras. They would play two roles. One was their normal use, which was to keep an eye on things. The other was an early warning system. When the robots, or replicators as they were called, arrived, they had a kind of interference signal that they sent out that disrupted cameras. This disruption was the best-known method of knowing they were nearby. This would allow us at least five minutes to get stationed and ready for battle.

It was around four in the morning when we finally arrived back at the house. We were both tired, so I planned to sleep at least until noon the next day. "Jen, tomorrow we will head to the base when we wake up. So let's sleep as much as we can since we will be busy for the rest of the day."

"Alright." Jen was wobbling around. I ended up having to help her undress and tuck her in before I could get into bed myself. Once I did, she snuggled right up next to me and hugged my waist. She was truly too cute.
