Chapter 142 - Dividing the Male Protagonist's Luck into Two

Upon returning home, Su Chen saw Zhao Menghan dressed in a seductive maid outfit waiting for him. "As expected," Su Chen thought to himself, deciding that forsaking the woman named Qiu Wushui and coming home might not necessarily be a bad idea. After all, what awaited him at home seemed even more enticing. Having been busy for so long, he believed it was time to indulge in a relaxing bath and of course, he wouldn't be tending to it himself.

At his command, Zhao Menghan stepped in to attend to him meticulously. All Su Chen had to do was close his eyes and enjoy. It must be said that Zhao Menghan's skills were quite commendable, making the experience immensely comfortable for Su Chen. He mused about how many ancient men aspired for fame and fortune just to have maids or servants pamper them.

Recalling a novel he once read, where the male protagonist had built a courtyard housing numerous stunning maids, he cast a glance at Zhao Menghan, contemplating the possibility of emulating something similar.

After his bath and changing his clothes, Su Chen did not ask Zhao Menghan to stay. Instead, he asked her to leave. Some time passed, and realizing that Zhao Menghan didn't return and that there was no sign of Su Xian'er either, Su Chen felt at ease. He then brazenly entered Chen Yuxin's room.

At that moment, Chen Yuxin had just laid down on her bed, stretching and planning to have a good night's sleep. Wrapped in a thick quilt, she got up to drink water, wearing a suggestive nightdress that she initially planned to wear to entice Su Chen, but she lacked the courage. If word got out about her intentions, many would be shocked, especially given her fearless reputation in the martial world.

As Chen Yuxin yawned, her jade-like hand covering her rosy mouth, she felt a bit tired after such a long day. Just as she was about to sleep, someone suddenly entered. She faced a man dressed in a white robe, both standing silently, eyes locked for a minute. Chen Yuxin screamed, and Su Chen rushed to cover her mouth, thinking to himself, "Was that really necessary?

It's not like it's the first time she's seen me." Even though she wasn't as familiar with him as Zhao Menghan was, he found her reaction quite exaggerated.

Inside the room, Chen Yuxin's heart raced, her cheeks flushing red, evidently startled by Su Chen's actions. "Su Chen, what are you thinking?" she inquired with a puzzled tone. This left Su Chen speechless. "Is that really how she sees me?" he thought, further puzzled by her sudden closeness.

With an expressionless face, he looked at Chen Yuxin. Initially, she bravely met his gaze, even casting a flirtatious glance. However, moments later, she bashfully closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling, mirroring Qiu Wushui's earlier reaction. "All these women prefer to keep their eyes shut?" Su Chen thought, finding their boldness contradictory to their shy demeanor.

"You're overthinking. I came to ask about the wanted criminal captured by the police department. You're aware, right?" he said, his face unchanged, leaving Chen Yuxin clueless about his intentions.

Pausing for a moment, she finally responded, "Oh, you mean Qin Yu." This revelation seemed to excite Chen Yuxin, implying that Su Chen might be taking action against Qin Yu, not showing the mercy he once did.

However, what was the reason behind it? Chen Yuxin couldn't figure it out and decided not to dwell on it. She directly responded to Su Chen's question, "Qin Yu was indeed captured, and I heard it was thanks to you. But convicting him is challenging because with the current patriarch of the Qin family, Qin Lie, protecting him, we have no way to restrain him. "

As she spoke, a look of unwillingness appeared on Chen Yuxin's face. What she said was the truth. Qin Lie is one of the three great military gods, with countless disciples under his command. If he wanted to protect Qin Yu, there was nothing Chen Yuxin could do about it.

"Therefore, we can only look for other ways, find evidence of Qin Yu's wrongdoings," she continued. "But as long as Qin Lie gives an order, stating that Qin Yu acted on his commands, we can't do anything." Su Chen had already considered this. In reality, Qin Lie was Qin Yu's enemy. However, Qin Lie still adopted Qin Yu and taught him martial arts.

The primary reason was to acquire the secret Qin Yu held. And all of this revolved around the Kunlun Jade Pendant. What no one expected was that the majority of the pendant was actually with Su Chen. Of course, all of this was based on Qin Yu being unaware of the truth. Otherwise, Qin Lie wouldn't be at peace.

"Release the news that Qin Yu knows who his father's killer is, and the issue with Qin Lie can be resolved," Su Chen stated, causing Chen Yuxin to be somewhat confused. Even though she had been reborn, she wasn't entirely clear about these secrets. Even the head of the Black Dragon Gang, one of the perpetrators, wasn't aware.

The reason Qin Yu found out from the gang leaders was merely one of Su Chen's schemes. "This time we must establish Qin Yu's guilt. You should have plenty of evidence, right?" Su Chen paused for a moment, then solemnly said, "It would be best if those influential figures could be involved. Use the power of the internet to publicize Qin Yu's notoriety. Do you understand?" Su Chen looked at Chen Yuxin earnestly. He was determined this time. He was certain he wouldn't let Qin Yu have a chance to turn things around.

From every aspect, Su Chen aimed to destroy the protagonist's aura around Qin Yu. Only then could he comfortably drive the story's narrative. Su Chen believed Qin Yu was unfit to be the protagonist. Extremely disappointing.

"I understand. I'll follow through," Chen Yuxin said, recognizing Su Chen's seriousness in dealing with Qin Yu. At the same time, she realized there seemed to be deep-seated enmity between Qin Yu and Qin Lie. Her bright eyes shimmered, and a smile appeared on her pretty face. She thought of an even better plan.

Exterminating Qin Yu was Su Chen's intent, which she also had in mind. But she didn't want to let go of Qin Lie either, even if her grandfather had repeatedly warned her not to provoke him. But she wasn't afraid. How could she let someone like Qin Lie, who harmed the public and the army, continue his tyranny? She changed her mind now.

She would indeed confirm all of Qin Yu's crimes, but at the same time, she wanted Qin Yu to confront Qin Lie. That way, it would be a win-win.

However, Su Chen was unaware of Chen Yuxin's thoughts. He was just fidgeting around and then watched as she made arrangements over the phone. At that moment, she was entirely engrossed in her work, revealing a perfect curve due to her seductive nightgown, which left some parts more visible than others. It gave a peculiar feeling to the onlooker.

But Su Chen's thoughts were elsewhere, pondering why men generally liked to play tricks when a woman was on the phone. Eventually, with a satisfied heart, he left Chen Yuxin's room. Looking at his red hands, the burning sensation was still intense. But this wasn't the happiest part. What could be more satisfying than knowing Qin Yu would no longer be the protagonist? Su Chen felt free now, resolved to first take revenge on Qin Yu.

Having been oppressed for many lifetimes, he was determined to retaliate. As he lay in bed, Su Chen began another round of contemplation, curious about who the new protagonist would be. "It couldn't possibly be me, could it?" he wondered.

Of course, Su Chen hoped it would be himself. This is a legitimate main male lead, the kind that doesn't need to perform tasks. "There's nothing more fortunate than being the male lead in a feel-good urban story." Su Chen exclaimed sincerely, yet he also held some anticipation. The male lead, Qin Yu, is now detained at the police department, with his luck greatly reduced, leaving him with no chances of turning things around.

Although unsure about what Qiu Wushui and the other female leads are doing, such a plot twist generally implies a downfall. That means his previous actions were correct. Otherwise, allowing Qin Yu to continue as the male lead would make all antagonist scripts unnecessary. There'd be no need to play them out; one could just go home and sleep soundly.

However, Su Chen was still a bit apprehensive and directly questioned the system. "Old pal, it's time for you to speak up. Don't pretend you're dead," he said. "Qin Yu shouldn't be the chosen male lead now, right? After his fall from grace, can the male lead be replaced?" Su Chen felt that there was a high probability.

After all, Qin Yu's reputation is now tarnished. He's consistently failed to impress, and in every aspect, he no longer looks like a protagonist. Su Chen felt hopeful yet nervous, uncertain about potential developments. Then, the mechanical voice of the system finally responded.

[It's not certain. Even though Qin Yu's luck as the main male lead has been severely suppressed, it doesn't mean he's lost it.]

[The greatest possibility is that the luck of the male lead has been shared but not entirely. It suggests the potential existence of two individuals with the luck of the male lead.]

[But since the luck is separated, it's bound to be damaged.]

Hearing the system's response, Su Chen was dumbfounded. What on earth? Two male leads? Does this mean he'd be challenged by two people?

"Damn it, you never mentioned this before. You said that after giving Qin Yu a hard slap in the face, he would lose his male lead luck, and then I could get rid of this useless male lead," Su Chen retorted. The system's unreliability wasn't new to him.

"So who inherited half of Qin Yu's luck? Who's the new male lead?" Su Chen pondered over the entire story but couldn't think of anyone suitable. Among the younger generation, few could match Qin Yu. In fact, almost none. If there truly was someone, Su Chen instinctively thought of the original book's main antagonist, Ye Haotian, who was nearly as powerful as the original male lead.

[The luck cannot be transferred to original characters as it would disrupt the balance. Those individuals don't possess the ability to accept the male lead's luck.]

"A new character?" Su Chen was quite astonished. He hadn't anticipated the introduction of a new character, especially one never mentioned before in the book. What should he do? Su Chen suddenly realized that with this, the script's difficulty for the antagonist would increase again.

Originally, he had a grasp of all characters in the book. But if the new male lead wasn't under his control, this could pose a significant challenge, making Su Chen uneasy. Fortunately, the system provided him with a new script. Examining it closely, Su Chen was surprised to discover a new protagonist! While Qin Yu was known as the returning War God, the new character with the male lead's luck was named Fang Yufan, the "expert descending from the mountain."

Unlike Qin Yu's foreign War God title, Fang Yufan had spent years on a mountain training with a mysterious elder, possessing not only formidable martial skills but also extraordinary medical expertise, far superior to Qin Yu's mediocre abilities. But whether he was better than Su Chen remained uncertain.

Fang Yufan was summoned down the mountain to save someone, marking his return to the city. Recognizing Fang Yufan's familiar background, Su Chen had no doubts: this was the setup for the new male lead.

Qin Yu and Fang Yufan. At this moment, Su Chen was a bit worried, hoping the two male leads wouldn't end up fighting, leaving him, the antagonist, as a mere spectator. Before long, Su Chen's eyelids grew heavy, and he soon fell asleep.

As Su Chen was deep in slumber, Qin Yu in the prison was having a hard time. "Qin Yu, you are accused of murdering a total of thirty-seven people, an heinous crime," the voice accused. "Moreover, you were a mercenary overseas! Upon returning to the country, you achieved your success through a series of illicit means."

Every crime committed by Qin Yu was meticulously investigated and laid out before him. Although Qin Yu was severely injured, his healing ability was so advanced that, on the surface, he appeared unharmed.

"I acted under orders; you have no right to treat me this way," he asserted. Despite his panic, Qin Yu believed he still had a way out. Qin Lie, unaware of the truth, was someone Qin Yu was counting on. While seeking help from an enemy was shameful, nothing mattered as long as he could survive.

Thus, Qin Yu was unafraid. Until, "Now, another charge is added – impersonating military personnel! Qin Yu, you cannot escape justice. The powerful backers behind you have abandoned you," the senior police officer angrily admonished Qin Yu. His normally benevolent face was now filled with rage.

"Impossible," Qin Yu refused to believe his words. He discerned that Qin Lie wanted something from him, and until that something was procured, he wouldn't be abandoned.

"By the way, a young master wanted me to convey to you that he's quite pleased with your current predicament," the officer continued. "And Qin Lie won't be coming to help you. You should very well know why!" The elderly policeman stood up to leave, adding, "One more thing, apart from Young Master Su of the Su family who wishes for your downfall, there's another old friend of yours aiming for the same." After his parting words, he left.

However, he made sure to leave behind a large number of guards. Given Qin Yu's formidable abilities, they had certainly learned from previous oversight and dispatched an elite team to guard him closely.
