Before going off to look for this soul eater, she gave Esong one last lingering look. As she did, she wondered what percentage her pride had played in his current circumstances. All she had to do was pop in for one second but she held herself back, wanting him to reach out to her and apologize for not calling or texting back. Was Cecily right in saying she still wanted out of the marriage? She did not feel that way but perhaps there was a small part of her in the back of her mind which deemed the relationship unsalvageable, short term even. Maybe it was because lately all she heard was how their relationship had a time limit. And in the long immortal life of a grim reaper, that little time they had together was akin to a drop in the ocean.
