Cecilia gulped hard on her saliva as she glanced at the butler who was waiting for her to leave the dining room. She was immersed in her world of thoughts to the extent that she couldn't think straight. How was she going to face the chairman? She was done for. Marco made everything appear too obvious, leaving her to pay dearly for it.
The butler reminded her of the reason why she was still standing there and Cecilia let out a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of her neck as she followed the butler to the Chairman's study.
She walked down the hallway alongside the butler, slowly biting her lower lips, her hands trembling. When they arrived at the Chairman's study room, the butler opened the big oak door and gestured for her to go in while he left and closed the door from behind.
Cecilia saw Marco already seated while the chairman was standing close to his window, his hands clasped behind him oblivious to what was going through his head.
