Chapter 7: Battleships
...For god's sake spell, I'm just level 2!
EXP: 998/1000
2 EXP. Tai Xin just needed 2 more EXP to level up but in this situation, he couldn't. There wasn't a single monster below level 20 that had an encounter with him!
Sighing inwardly, Tai Xin looked at the sky. More specifically at the island that had appeared in the sky.
Looking at his pitiful level and then at those colossal dangerous beasts climbing the "Staircase" Tai Xin decided not to climb the stairs. He was a lover of challenges, not someone who liked outright suicide.
"Just 4 months. Calamity spell will surely reward me with something good for surviving in this environment right? Not something stupid or useless..."
Veins popped up on Tai Xin's face.
...Ah Sh*t
...Why did I have to jinx it again?
This time he had the urge to rip out his tongue and feed it to those beasts.
Just as these thoughts were going through his head, from the corner of his eyes he noticed a ship coming in his direction. More specifically toward the stairs.
But that wasn't the main point. The main point was that this ship was flying!
Due to the fog covering the area, Tai Xin was only able to see the outline of the ship. There were two wings on each side of the ship, and with its help, the ship was able to fly. Of course, Tai Xin knew that it wasn't as simple as that. There was definitely more of its mechanism.
Tai Xin didn't will mana to his eyes as he had currently exhausted a lot of his mana, with only 0.3 MP left. Well, he didn't need to as the ship slowly descended into the lake.
The ship seemed to be a little smaller than average ships. Yeah, it was below average.
'Well, size doesn't matter.'
Ignoring the size, thing the that stood out the most was the flag. At first, the flag was blurry with only its outline visible due to the fog covering the area, but as the ship came closer to the lake Tai Xin was able to see it.
The image printed on the flag was of a skull resembling a normal pirate flag. The skull was black in color seeming to be surrounded by a blood pool. The teeth present on the skull were gold in color, and along with the eye patch on the right side of the eye, it really looked sinister.
The ship came very near to the surface of the blood lake. From a certain distance, Tai Xin was able to notice a few more outlines on the ship.
'Shit, my mana is almost over.'
His muscles had gone externally stiff, and slowly exhaustion started to hit them.
His vision also was slowly starting to get blurry. It was becoming difficult to see in the environment.
'No!'
Exclaiming in his heart Tai Xin bit his lips, causing them to bleed. A few drops of blood fell in the lake due to it, making almost no difference in the lake.
Due to the pain, Tai Xin's mind once again became clear.
'That ship most probably belongs to natives.' Tai Xin thought as he looked at the ship.
According to the descriptions provided by the calamity spell, in high-level catacombs with enough resources were able to have their own intelligent inhabitants.
But there was also a theory that some part of humanity was stuck within these catacombs, as most of the intelligent species found within catacombs were humans or humans with mutated body parts. Other than subspecies of humans no other species had been found within the catacombs with entirely different DNA or completely different body components.
Well, there were more than 5 million humans present in this catacomb. As a result, there were different kingdoms and civilizations present in it.
And this was one of those kingdom's battleships.
'So now what? Why are they here?' Tai Xin didn't allow his thoughts to wander for too long as he focused on his surroundings making sure to keep his survival on the top.
Pui!
Pui!
At that moment suddenly the sound of something large flapping echoed throughout the place. This was similar to the sound that had echoed from the metal wings attached to the ship in front of him.
'Another battleship!'
Unlike the previous ship, this one possessed a different kind of flag. Unlike the last flag, which seemed to be a flag of marauder the other flag seemed to be the embodiment of the peace.
A seagull flying high in the sky, along with its blue eyes seeming to be gazing through everything, even having the ability to gaze through souls. Its white feather seemed to be composed of pure white crystals.
Its lone figure in the sky, as if holding the entire sky on its wings. It was a very mesmerizing picture.
The ship, slowly descending toward the surface of the lake also started to resemble a majestic seagull.
*Halg alg the yag gad agb ship!* (Seagull Nation's battleship, with what purpose did you come here!)
Slowly a figure emerged from the ship. His body looked extremely muscular. His jaws were extremely sharp, and coupled with his red eyes and black hair he looked extremely dangerous.
He wore a tight leather shirt and pants, though this shirt barely covered his upper body revealing his muscular arms.
His fingertips were attached to sharp white bones, which were exoskeletons that protected his palms. In this catacomb, he had mutated getting these exoskeletons that protected his palms but also increased the explosive strength of his punches.
*Genrakl Ruo, Nationasgja, Keikei! Keikei! Gagashadsoor! (King Ruo, Our nation isn't the only one that is going to come!)
*Genraki Ruo, tahe ahoy, Areb, lensa lebsa quok teh Mei god Boold, Gooja the teh fgsa gene hearba rga teh, propherby!" (King Ruo, don't try to hide it. You can't stop the power of nature! This is an opportunity provided to us by the blood god! After a thousand years, the prophecy has come true!"
Just as the king standing on the battleship with the seagull flag said these words once again the sound of metallic wings flapping was heard throughout the place.
A grey ship with gold wings slowly descended into the lake. It was followed by a few other battleships descending into the Blood Lake. Now there currently were a total of 8 battle ships.
Each of the battleships possessed different kinds of flags with different pictures printed on them, each of the flags speaking a different story.
"Fuuuuu." Tai Xin on the other hand was currently sitting on a structure that seemed to be a broken piece of rock.
This rock was completely red in color, with some weird inscriptions present on it, which Tak Xin guessed to be a part of those red pillars. It was surprising that this rock piece of rock large enough to hold three people wasn't sinking, but Tai Xin didn't care about it anymore.
He had seen too many weird phenomena since coming to this world. This minor thing wasn't enough to surprise him to such an extent that he would start screaming.
...Sure, you can float even after being heavy or even after someone sitting on you, but can you throw monsters from the sky every four hours? Or can you summon billions of people to enter worlds and then like a psycho torture them, and then give them abilities?
Even though this comparison seemed to be the embodiment of stupidity, Tai Xin couldn't help but do it to lighten the mood.
But it didn't lighten the current situation. The eight battleships were ready to attack each other.
*Genrakl Ellsako Twhnean Pooeraj a yaja. Thwc aynwvaj tablet gavba tab at at w yanaa agnwh! Hajac yajv gabavw gaba athaha* (King Ellasko, this is an opportunity for every one of us to escape our curse. This is an opportunity provided by the deity! You can't claim it to be your property!]
*Wniygh! Temmere!* (Enough! Attack!)
The next second the air suddenly became heavy! The situation seemed to have become more serious.
Creeeaaak!
Creeeeaaakk!
Suddenly cannons appeared from the sides of the ship with the skeleton flag! The owner of this ship was King Ruo.
His sudden battle cry had surprised Tai Xin and the other kings startling them greatly.
Boom!
Multiple Cannon balls were launched by the cannons striking the ships around it. The shock wave was more than enough to even push Tai Xin.
Tai Xin's body once again fell to the lake, but then the next second in a split moment he jumped on another similar rock. There were more than ten such rocks in the lake, which were clearly remnants of a pillar in the lake
Tai Xin, then quickly once again looked at the battleships. These battleships were already once again present in the air, trying to get an upper hand in the battle.
"Sigh, I am unable to see my future path. It's completely black."
