As soon as the baby's cry filled the room, Bright moved to Emma's side, exhausted yet triumphant. He leaned in and kissed her gently, his eyes full of admiration.
"You were incredible, Emma. I always knew you were strong, even back in Cooper Clove. I was sure you wouldn't suffer the same fate as my mother did during childbirth. That's one of the reasons I chose you."
Emma, worn out and breathing heavily, shot him a tired look. "You're such a fool."
Bright simply smiled widely, unaffected by her irritation, and kissed her deeply once more, his expression a mixture of pride and affection.
"I'm so glad you pulled through, I'm so happy," Bright continued, his voice full of emotion. "Thank you. I love you so much, I love you more than anything. Thank you for being such an incredible and strong woman. I'm incredibly lucky."
