Chereads / Hero To Overlord: Arlott the Unfettered! / Chapter 10 - Elemental Symphony

Chapter 10 - Elemental Symphony

Arlott adjusted his Arcane force to 1988 after his consciousness arrived in illusion. He decided to show results equal to someone who was above average at fifteen years old.

'Magma should be fine to impress the bunch,' Arlott thought before he pointed his finger at the dog that materialized and started weaving magic into his Arcane Zone.

As everyone has Arcane Source after awakening, they also have Arcane Zone, in which they can prepare their spells and attacks. For elements, if one wanted to design a skill or combine two elements, one must do it here before channeling it out.

Arlott used 110 mana to produce fire energy and 100 energy to produce Earth energy in his Elemental Zone before seamlessly combining them as he produced a Magma element and channeled its energy into his finger.

Outside, everyone saw in the magic screen as Arlott pointed his finger at the Black Horned Dog, whose mouth was just fifty centimeters away from him.

*Swoosh*

His finger shone red before a magma beam shot from his finger and hit the Black Horned Dog instantly as it vanished into motes. Dead.

A series of gasps rang in the hall.

"A fusion attack?!"

"Magma release!"

"How?! How did he release an Advance element like that?"

"Humph, so what? It's not like Magma is stronger. I can beat him as long as I have higher mastery of Fire and learn to create powerful spells."

His classmates were dumbfounded and didn't want to believe that the lazy Arlott they knew managed to do this.

On the other hand, seniors and teachers were surprised and impressed.

"He indeed created a Magma attack by combining Fire as primary and Earth as secondary element in his Arcane Zone."

"He must have worked hard to achieve that fusion point. Good, he can learn Magma Arts of my club."

"Since he learned to release Magma element, he can also learn Crystal element with Earth as primary and Fire as secondary element soon."

Contrary to others' thoughts, Arlott could easily and seamlessly combine elements due to his innate talent, Elemental Symphony.

Elemental Symphony: You can understand the rhythms and melodies of the elements, allowing you to control and shape these forces with precision, much like a musician crafting a symphony.

Talents were something one must understand and use to achieve results, they were not direct results. So, this talent allowed Arlott to get a faster understanding of elements as long as he tried to learn them and explore new ways to shape them, thus enabling him to seamlessly combine primary elements to create an Advanced element without much effort.

"Let's see how he does in level 2."

Everyone saw on the screen as three Black Horned Dogs materialized this time, two before Arlott and one behind as they immediately pounced on him.

Arlott quickly rolled to the left and dodged their attacks before he pointed his palm at them and released three amber crystals the size of fingers with red and orange spots inside them.

The crystals hit all three dogs and exploded, killing them instantly.

Another series of gasps rang outside because Arlott had just used Crystal release.

While they murmured and talked, the third level started as a giant two-meter-tall plant life with five vines manifested, a Grade-2 Minion—Whipbell Vine.

Grade-1 minions had Arcane force equal to 100-1000 in them, while Grade-2 minions had Arcane force equal to 1001-5000 in them.

This one had 2000 Arcane Force and the last level for first-year high school students.

The monster glowed and released two wind slashes by whipping its vines in the air towards Arlott, who quickly conjured an Earth shield to block the attack and also hid himself behind the Earth shield.

'Boring,' Arlott thought before pointing his palm at 45 degrees and releasing a condensed Magma crystal that made a beautiful arc and landed right on top of the unsuspecting Whipbell Vine minion.

*Boom!*

The illusion ended, and Arlott opened his eyes at the crystal ball that displayed his Arcane Force.

"Congratulations, Arlott. You will enter Class-A," the middle-aged man smiled at him before he gestured for him to leave. "Good job. You may leave now."

Arlott nodded with a polite smile and left. Looking at the blanket of students, he could see his classmate's faces, but they were not worth his attention as always, and he sat beside Luna.

"Hehe, I knew you would show your true abilities here, like when you saved me," Luna said with a soft giggle as she elbowed Arlott.

Arlott rolled his eyes at her and said, "Luna, I saved you five years ago, and it wasn't much anyway. You can just forget about it."

Luna pouted, "It's my choice to remember it, humph."

"Fine," Arlott said before he leaned back, closed his eyes, and started snoring, or rather, he started training.

Arlott appeared lazy and fooling around to others because he was always refining his soul whenever he got a chance.

Luna bit her lips and looked ahead, her chest feeling tightened with a bit of pain. 'Why is he always so distant…Am I not beautiful, or am I bad?'

Luna was beautiful, more beautiful than anyone in her year. She was already one of the top potential beauties despite being a fifteen-year-old due to her well-developed figure, gorgeous face with cuteness overload, and crystal blue eyes.

She was on the radar of every single boy, but Luna's radar had only one boy, Arlott.

"Arlott, you will practice with me like usual, right?" Luna said in a soft voice.

"Not today," Arlott immediately replied. "Or never from now on. We'll be in high school, so I have other things to do."

[Gosh, you're making an innocent and beautiful girl sad, darling. She is on the verge of crying and is holding back.]

Arlott opened his eyes and glanced to his left to see Luna holding her dress with a clenched fist and trying her best not to drop a tear from her watery eyes.

'Why is she not going away from me? Love and all other shit is not for me,' Arlott sighed.

[Really? Or are you just scared that you will be betrayed again and don't want to love anyone.]

Laverna's tone was slightly mocking, and her words stung him, causing Arlott's soul to rage, but he quickly calmed down and internally chuckled.

'You are right. The only people close to me will be those controlled and manipulated by me. I don't want any love nor want to give love to anyone.'

[But darling, I truly love you, and you know that, right?]

Laverna chuckled.

'Of course, our souls are connected, so I trust you. 'But for others? Heh, it doesn't take much for people's heart to flip. That's why...I will only keep those I will control and manipulate around me.'

Laverna sighed and didn't say anything more.' That is not good, my dear hero. I want you to be happy and feel truly loved in this life.'

'I hope Luna and Iris can invoke some bond with him. As long as he feels concerned about them, it's a good first step.'

"Luna," Arlott called her, causing her to turn her water-eyed face towards him, which she quickly wiped away.

"Why are you crying?"

Luna sniffed, "I am not."

Arlott ruefully smiled and said, "I am going to the Library later. Do you want to come?"

"Library…" Luna muttered before her watery eyes instantly shined, and she nodded. "I want to!"

"Alright," Arlott nodded with a smile before he went back to sleep.

'Phew, I would attract too much attention if she actually started crying.'

But Arlott didn't see a glint of excitement in Luna's eyes.

'Just wait, Arlott. I'll give you a big surprise in the Library,' Luna thought with butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

"Arlott Vorken. His mother is Kiera, a ranker in the top 200. She fell down in her rank, eh? His father, Derek, is still in the top 100."

Emerin was reading information about Arlott.

"Awakened all primary elements?" Emerin raised her eyebrows. "Two talents, one unknown, and another determined to be a S-grade."

"It looks like this kid is heavily blessed, but his results…." Emerin frowned as she looked at the Academic records of Arlott.

All exams and tests of Arlott ended in him getting an average grade and average marks.

"It looks like he is not working hard enough to use his talents."

Emerin tapped on the crystal jade slate, turned off the screen displaying Arlott's information, and handed it back to Mia.

Mia left while Emerin leaned back on her comfortable chair and muttered, "That gaze…something feels weird about him."
