Chapter 171 - Unconsciousness

Chapter 171: Unconsciousness

"Even if you don't believe it, Eneru, the only reason you lost to me is that you angered me!" Rodney's Mangekyou Sharingan blazed with chilling and terrifying killing intent as he locked eyes with Enel. It was the first time Eneru had ever felt this kind of fear.

How could this be? Why am I feeling afraid?

He tried to stand up again, but his body had suffered countless broken bones, making it nearly impossible to get back on his feet.

Susano'o gradually dissipated, turning into a circle of ribs that encased them. This was Susano'o's most basic form. Rodney, holding a darkened blade, advanced. The blade reflected a dreadful glint, and Eneru shouted, "No! You cannot harm a god! You will face divine retribution for this!"

Rodney retorted, "Oh? Divine retribution? I've never been afraid of that. I don't believe in gods either. The Goro Goro no Mi will be reborn in the Blue Sea. What a hassle."

He took out an apple; he always carried fruit with him. Setting it aside, he traced a trajectory with his hand, and a massive skull flew into the air, blood spattering everywhere.

"Hmm?"

Rodney squinted as something seemed to emerge from Eneru's body. It was unclear, and after a brief pause next to the fruit, it dissipated into the air. The Devil Fruit ability did not choose the fruit as its host.

"What a waste!"

The Goro Goro no Mi would be reborn in the Blue Sea as long as it wasn't consumed by an enemy. Even if it were an enemy, Rodney would defeat it.

From now on, Rodney was a Jonin, and it seemed like he was having fun fighting like a kid.

"Summoning Technique!"

Boom!

A colossal slug appeared, and the giant slug asked, "Lord Rodney, are you alright?" Her last memory fragment transmitted how terrifying the enemy was.

The power controlling thunder was far stronger than mere Lightning Release.

Wait, this chakra?

"Lord Rodney, have you awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan?"

She was surprised; even among the Uchiha clan, those who unlocked the Mangekyou Sharingan were extremely rare. Although it wasn't clear if Rodney was an Uchiha, one thing was certain – his Mangekyou Sharingan had awakened.

"Mangekyou... Sharingan?" Robin asked, puzzled.

Rodney's once black eyes had now returned to their original state, but due to the intense use of his eyes, they felt sour and uncomfortable. Although it hadn't reached the point of affecting his vision, the sensation was unpleasant. Dizziness washed over him, and he said, "Take care of Robin, Sister Slug."

With that, he collapsed into the slug's arms.

"Captain! Captain!"

Robin was in shock. Rodney seemed to have transformed into someone else entirely. His aura was cold and unfamiliar, nothing like the warm person she knew.

"Please don't worry, Miss Robin. Captain Rodney is just experiencing excessive chakra consumption from using the Mangekyou Sharingan for the first time. It's a bit overwhelming, but he'll be fine. The only concern is the risk of blindness if he continues to use it excessively," the giant slug reassured her.

"Blindness? Also, what is the Mangekyou Sharingan? Is it different from the captain's Sharingan?"

The slug explained, "The Mangekyou Sharingan is an evolved form of the Sharingan, typically only found among the Uchiha clan in our world. While it's unclear how Captain Rodney possesses it, what we do know is that if it's not the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, excessive use can lead to blindness."

"Why?" Robin felt the immense power in Rodney but wondered if it was worth it if it could lead to blindness.

The giant slug added, "I've seen the power of the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan on the battlefield; it's comparable to tailed beasts. Tailed beasts might be unfamiliar to you, but in our world, they are the most powerful creatures. However, without evolving his eyes into the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, Captain Rodney will inevitably go blind if he continues to use this power. But I believe he won't stop using it."

"Captain's eyes evolved? But he didn't mention it."

"It's said that to unlock the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, one must witness an unexpected event involving a loved one, allowing their emotions to break free. At that moment, their eyes become the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan." The giant slug didn't have much information about the Sharingan but had learned this from Sakura.

The giant slug lowered herself to Robin's level and asked, "Miss Robin, is Captain Rodney someone important in your heart? That might be why he triggered the Mangekyou Sharingan."

Hearing the slug's words, Robin pressed her hand to her chest, feeling her heart racing.

Her face blushed involuntarily.

The giant slug carefully extracted Rodney from the slug's body. His injuries had fully healed.

"Captain Rodney's injuries are not serious; there's nothing to worry about. The main concern is his excessive chakra consumption. Last time, a girl named 'Nami' took care of him under similar circumstances."

"Nami? The genius navigator the captain mentioned?" Robin's eyes flashed with a hint of jealousy. Her gaze towards Rodney had turned dangerous.

In his unconscious state, Rodney appeared to be having a nightmare. He furrowed his brow, sweat forming on his forehead. Robin quickly leaned down to wipe it away.

The giant slug asked, "What do you plan to do next, Miss Robin?"

"I'm going to find the historical text. It's right there, beneath the Golden Bell."

Enel's Rumble-Rumble Fruit had destroyed most of Shandora's structures, but the Golden Bell and the historical text underneath remained unscathed. Robin could already see the historical text she had longed to read.

She suddenly regretted that Rodney had been injured because of her. His awakening of the Mangekyou Sharingan, a power that led to darkness, was entirely her fault.

Then, she remembered something and asked, "Lady Slug, how is the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan obtained?"

"I heard it involves transplanting a brother's Mangekyou Sharingan, but I'm not sure if Captain Rodney has a brother."

"Captain mentioned he was an orphan." Robin couldn't help feeling down. Rodney had told her that his family wasn't in this world; he grew up alone and set out to sea at a young age. So, where could he obtain a pair of Mangekyou Sharingan?

"Please don't be disheartened, Miss Robin. Captain Rodney has the Strength of a Hundred Seal, which should offset some of the side effects of the Mangekyou Sharingan. Just ensure he doesn't overuse this power, and he'll be fine."

Of course, the Mangekyou Sharingan had methods other than transplanting another Mangekyou Sharingan. One way was to implant Indra's cells, but whether or not it would evolve into the Rinnegan was a matter of luck.

It seemed that only the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan could evolve the Rinnegan if the Mangekyou Sharingan was transplanted. Otherwise, like Madara, even with a significant amount of Indra's cells in his body, his Sharingan did not evolve into the Rinnegan.

With the help of the giant slug, Robin arrived at the historical text. She touched the stone, feeling the weight of history. It contained information about the ancient weapons, just as she had expected.

Alabasta's weapon was Pluton, and Fish-Man Island's weapon was Poseidon.

However, she already knew what Poseidon was in this context.

But a line of small text beneath caught her attention.
