Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Selena, the Dying Witch

Jill clutched the Necronomicon tightly, its pages whispering secrets known only to the darkest of mages. As he wandered away from the ruins of his village, the power bestowed upon him by the god of death, Mictlantecuhtli, surged within him. It was an eerie energy, like a chill wind from the depths of the underworld, coursing through his veins.

The newfound power was a double-edged sword, a gift that carried the weight of responsibility. It set him on a path of vengeance against the black-robed mage who had wrought this devastation. With each step, his resolve grew stronger, and his determination to uncover the truth behind the attack burned like an unquenchable flame.

Jill's path led him into a dense forest, where the ancient trees whispered secrets of their own. The air was thick with enchantment, and he could feel the presence of magical creatures lurking in the shadows. The forest, it seemed, was a realm where reality and fantasy intertwined.

It was during his solitary journey through the enchanted woods that Jill experienced something inexplicable. A voice, soft and haunting, echoed in his mind, as if someone were directly communicating with his thoughts.

"Jill," the voice murmured, "I see you've found the Necronomicon."

Startled, Jill looked around, searching for the source of the voice, but there was no one in sight. Then, a name whispered through his consciousness—a name he hadn't heard before.

"Who are you?" he asked, his voice trembling with uncertainty.

The voice in his mind grew clearer, and an image formed—an image of a woman, her eyes filled with a deep and ancient wisdom. She appeared ethereal, as if she existed in a realm beyond mortal understanding.

"I am Selena," she replied, her voice a gentle caress in his mind. "A great magician in the underworld, with a level of 8-star mage. My power is only inferior to the Dark Lord himself."

Jill's skepticism was evident. The world Selena described seemed fantastical, beyond the realms of possibility. "I find that hard to believe," he responded, his doubt etched in his words.

Selena, however, continued with a patient tone. "You may doubt my words, but I sense great potential within you, Jill. You are a 1-star mage, a level considered inferior in the magical hierarchy. A 1-star mage would struggle to defeat even a goblin in battle."

Jill furrowed his brow, his confusion evident. "But I... I killed a goblin without breaking a sweat."

Selena's voice in his mind took on a tone of astonishment. "You did? That's...that's remarkable. Perhaps there is more to you than meets the eye. The Necronomicon must have chosen you for a reason."

As Jill and Selena continued their mental conversation, the young mage's journey took on a new dimension. He realized that he was not alone in this quest for vengeance and truth. Selena, the enigmatic witch with a voice that reached into his very soul, would become his guide in the treacherous world of magic and darkness, leading him toward a destiny he had never imagined, even as he wandered deeper into the forest filled with magical creatures.
