Chereads / DxD: Why won't they leave me alone / Chapter 4 - Do You Know The Way

Chapter 4 - Do You Know The Way

I pressed my hand against my mouth in an attempt to keep the fluids in my stomach down. When I said like a week ago that I needed to put some muscle on my bones, this isn't what I thought was what was gonna go down.

"Come here! Join me, join us! I know the way and we can go on an adventure to the wonderous lands beyond our dreams~."

I looked through a tiny hole in the tarp I was hiding behind. Only to spot the creature that was hunting me down, it's body belonging in a Cthulu book.

6 long legs made up of the appendages of other beings, the abominations limbs twitched and twisted in a off thrust and pull of sporadic movement, making its body sway and jerk to an unnatural halt. It's body a terrible amalgamation of other creatures and the parts of other being's, it's form a torso the size of a buffalo. Laying across it's back a black oily cloth hung off of it's frame, doing little to hide its form. On its stomach the arms of different things ranging from supernatural and ugly to human and petite. It's head twisting and jerking around with 2 bulbous eyes, a milky off green grey color. It's mouth was the same as a young teenage girls, the only thing to offset the normalcy of it is the black line of red flesh that stretched up its cheeks, creating a ghoulish smile on its face. The only object in its arms, closest to its face is a small Uganda Knucles doll.

Ok, so to back track abit before this situation, let's summarize how I ended up here.

After failing to activate my circuits, the first thing I did was look for a new place to live. Whilst my dumpster is great and all, I'm starting to build up more supplies than what my tiny abode can hold.

So I started to make some more, daring journey's around the outskirts of Kyoto. You see that the population density is so much higher closer to the center of the city that is very common to find abandoned buildings, such as old homes and warehouses the further away you are from it. So that's the weekly plan, every Friday fill a trash bag up with as much food from the convince store's dumpster that I can carry. Find miscellaneous items that I come by that I think would come in handy at a later date and scavenging through old dilapidated building's for the perfect home.

Of course that all changed one day when I was looting through an old warehouse for premanufactured construction materials like wood and tools. So the day before, I had found a cellar in an old building that had been left to itself for what dated back to the later 50's early 60's. So the place is in bad disrepair, but luckily I found a lift door on the floor by luck when I was kicking an old wood trunk away that was blocking my path, preventing me from looking inside a closet.

Though the process was a bit embarrassing to move it, but hey! What can you do when you have the body of a easily exhausted, malnourished 4 year old.

But after moving the trunk I noticed that a small corner of the moldy carpet was raised up abit, making a pronounced 95 degree cut in the carpet stand out. With some finess and observations, I found a small handle that beckoned me into the darkness under the house.

So since I like seeing with my eyes I was forced to go and retrieve a dinky ass anime flashlight I found on one of my dumpster dives. The best part I noticed is that when I closed the door the carpet fit right in and no creases or noticeable marks indicated that a door existed there.

After retrieving the light I went back and opened the door once more. Pointing the light down revealed some surprisingly well preserved wooden steps.

Well, with some courage and a quick look about showed me an empty cellar with old foundation stones, painted white. Little disappointed that there isn't anything left behind, but the place is perfect. It's like half the building foot print with plenty of room to move about and store things.

So that's what I did, for the rest of that day I made trips back and forth from my old dumpster to my new home. After all was said and done I had accomplished my tasks for the day, secured a relatively safe home from the elements and hopefully from anyone seeking to do me any harm.

Now with my day complete I sat down on my thin bed of cloth and cardboard meshed together. Ate some more questionable food, drank some water and went to sleep.

First thing I did in the morning was eat some otherwise still good rice wrapped food and complete my morning rituals. Now that I've found a place to live, I've got to secure it and learn about it. This means I've gotta clear the buildings surrounding mine, make mine look like or match the others in the area and completely learn the streets and buildings for ease of movement. But before all of that, I now have a place for myself. Hidden away from discovery and lacking anything that made me feel at home. So step one, I need supplies such as wood along with handheld tools, whatever really, I just need to start somewhere.

So that's where I started, by going into an old fabric warehouse near me in an attempt to aquire anything that would assist me.

I looked up at the 4 story building, the top windows blown out leaving large holes that let the rain and wind free access to the infrastructure of the old building that could just hold out against the elements.

'Welp, time to find an entrance'

So around the building I went before making a full rotation. 'sigh'...

(short while later)

(Bang)

I watched as the large double door fell in on itself, granting me access to the inside.

'Huh, that wasn't supposed to happen'

As one of my previous discoveries, I had found a pair of old bolt cutters locked inside an aging steel locker. With some ease I had gained access to them, well with most things rusting and falling apart gaining entry into what would be impossible for me, is made kinda easy.

Still though, I guess that the hinges and the wall around the door decayed to the point that the chain was holding the whole thing together, kinda like a house of cards.

With a shrug I put the cutters in a nearby bush and made my way inside. Time to do some searching!

After going through and getting accustomed to building searching I had made a simple and easy system. I'd go in room by room and whenever I found something that I wanted to keep, I would bring it into a room that I'd designate as a kind of drop off room. Then when I was done with a floor I would transfer what I had gained back home and start the process all over.

Since this activity is taxing and stressful for my body I would take a break ever so often to relax and eat. With me now getting enough food to easily indulge in without worry, I have taken it as a chance to eat as much food as possible, even as a snack, to get rid of my malnutrition issues.

So after cleaning out the first 2 floors I had made it to the third floor, well third and fourth floor.

It seems with all of the decay that a majority of the fourth floor had crumbled away and turned the third floor into a large room with cloth, machinery and debris everywhere. Making what used to be a single floor into a maze of scattered machinery and mesh of cloth. Looking up I can see the skylight with the sun shining through, illuminating the room.

'Well there might be something of use in here, if not I can use this cloth as bedding and crafting materials for future projects'

So I began to navigate the ruins of the third floor, ducking under the tarp and cloth that would hang across each pillar that held the previous fourth floor aloft, the rebar sticking out making as excellent hooks for the decomposing patch work of cloth.

Everything seemed ok, I have a simple plan. Explore the entire floor and note anything of intrest, because it doesn't look like there is anything of use.

That was until I pushed some tarp that was in my way, opening up my view of this abomination. It's legs sporadically twitching as it bent close to the body of a man, it's face containing a sense of focus and intrigue as it skillfully with the use of the multiple hands hanging from its torso, dissected the man's body, it skillfully pulled one of his arms off.

I quickly covered my mouth as a sense of disgust over came me, my stomach threatening to release its contents unto the floor as the stench of this 'thing' reached my nose.

I might be callous and uncaring of other people, but this was just to much. It's focus on absorbing as much of the experience as possible gave me a feeling of revulsion and anger. It's joy as it broke the man's body down into parts, so that it could graft what it wants, unto its own.

But I wasn't quiet enough.

A small groan of my mouth, an attempt to keep my stomach down, escaped into the room.

With a pause, it's body froze.

I slowly backed out of the makeshift room, the moment the cloth I had moved fell back into place I could spot through a small hole in the cloth, it's head twisting to an unnatural degree as it looked over at me.

I just stood there, hoping, almost even praying that it's would go back to its business.

An audible splat was heard as a drop of blood from the limb in its arms splotched against the ground.

That noise set everything into motion. It's body at an unnatural angle made no time at all in removing the distance between me and it.

'Go!'

I quickly turned around and bolted down the path that I had already tracked through, making sure that I crouched and dodged the speckling of debris that dotted the ground and cloth hanging above me.

Within no time at all my 4 year old body made it half way across the room, the sounds of its body pushing, colliding and eating up distance sounded behind me, but the distance it made is miniscule to how much distance I made between it and me.

Suddenly a premonition crawled up my spine, without any hesitation I ducked behind a large sewing machine covered in tarp and cloth.

(Bang)

I watched as it cleared the remaining cloth, it hung there, looking around, hunting me down. I covered my mouth in an attempt to muffle the air I was greedily taking in.

"Come here! Join me, join us! I know the way and we can go on an adventure to the wonderous lands beyond our dreams~."

Well my back track is over, back to me attempting to not commit die.
