Chapter 31 - Liora's Past (Part 2)

In the barren land, two beings fought valiantly. One wielded a bow, while the other brandished a battle whip. Ice and flames clashed, creating craters of devastation on each side. Spectators gazed in awe, wondering who the mysterious elf was.

One onlooker remarked, "Who is that elf?"

Another responded, "She is... as strong, or even stronger than a hero..."

Amidst the battle, a golden-haired knight with an ethereal complexion, who could easily be mistaken for a woman due to his delicate features, observed from a distance. His weapon of choice was an exquisite bow.

The other combatant was none other than Liora, formerly known as Alice.

The knight skillfully deflected Liora's whip attack with the tip of his bow, sending her tumbling to the ground. He spoke with a calm demeanor, "I wish there were no disputes between heroes and commoners, lady elf."

But Liora was far from giving up. She rose to her feet and launched another attack, this time wielding a thin sword resembling a light saber. However, the knight effortlessly disarmed her and gently inquired, "You have a heart, elf lady. May I know your name?"

In response, she spat defiantly on his face, declaring, "I'm Alice, and I won't allow you to take the bow!"

The scene shifted to the present day, where the once-known Alice, now Liora, sat at a desk before Varian's bed. The absence of a chair didn't seem to bother her as she continued her explanation.

Rizki, the inquisitive one, asked first, "So Alvin was actually that formidable?"

Liora nodded and elaborated, "He wasn't the type to resort to violence for his desires. He always sought non-violent solutions to problems."

Trying to piece it all together, Rizki mused, "Judging from his name..." Suddenly, a flash of insight struck him, and he directed his question to Liora, "So you know about my world because of him?"

Liora confirmed with a nod, explaining further, "He was a well-mannered, calm, and caring person. Many times, I tried to end his life, but he always found a way to stop me. That's when..."

The scene rewound to a different time, somewhere in The Land of Bastion. This mysterious land was characterized by an eerie silence, yet vibrant blue and red hues adorned the surroundings.

Liora trailed behind the shining knight, questioning him, "I've tried to kill you so many times, but you always welcome me with open arms. What exactly are you thinking?"

The knight, with his striking yellow hair, turned to face her and smiled warmly. He introduced himself, "I am Alvin, reincarnated from the revolutionary era of my homeland. My parents taught me never to harm a woman, no matter the circumstances."

Pausing for a moment, he continued, "You see, I've always wondered about you. Why you were trying to kill me, or even others. We believed in avoiding violence and protecting our realm, didn't we?"

Liora pointed her sword at his neck, and he raised his hands in surrender, chuckling softly, "Calm down, Alice, calm down. I'm not one for fighting."

"Then give me your bow!" Liora demanded, and to her surprise, Alvin willingly handed it over.

"Just like that... Ah!" Liora tried to take the bow, but it slipped from her grasp, pinching her hand painfully. Alvin swiftly retrieved the bow and watched as she winced in pain. She muttered, "That bow... it's too heavy!"

Alvin extended his right hand towards her, offering help, but she slapped it away. He grinned wisely, saying, "This bow chooses its own master, someone who shares its vision. That's why I brought you here."

The scene shifted behind Alvin, revealing a massive graveyard filled with the skeletal remains of a colossal-sized female, perfectly preserved. On the left side, her missing arm was evident. Alvin explained, "This bow was made from her remains."

He gazed at the lifeless body and announced, "She is the Goddess of Judgment, Zadkiel." Turning back to Alice, who was now completely bewildered, he added, "As the goddess once said, one should not become overly attached to a weapon forged from one's own blood. Instead, one should strive to be a hero for their land."

"What does that mean?" Alice asked, her curiosity piqued. Alvin smiled and replied, "Now that you're calm, let me explain. You've been recognized as a hero by your people, but you are not the chosen one."

The scene returned to the present as Liora concluded her tale, "From that moment, I began to understand what being a hero truly means in our world."

But the story did not end there. The scene once again shifted, this time to a dark and troubling episode from Liora's past. She found herself standing amidst a gruesome trial in the Land of Bastion. Her body was covered in blood, a stark reminder of the relentless trials she had endured.

As Liora emerged from the trial, her strength failed her, and she collapsed to the ground. Her voice trembled as she muttered, "I've failed again. It's my twentieth attempt."

Weak and despairing, she questioned herself, "Am I only capable of this?"

Helpless and unable to move, she watched in horror as a group of sinister beings closed in on her, intent on further humiliation. They began to undress her, and in her near lifeless state, she had no means to resist.

With a resigned sigh, she muttered, "So be it. I have nothing left, not even a trace of my purity."

But then, just as darkness threatened to consume her, a blinking light shot towards one of the assailants who was about to violate Liora. In that critical moment, the familiar figure of Alvin emerged once more.

Alvin sprang into action, rushing to Liora's side as she teetered on the brink of death. He lifted her fragile form and placed her on his horse, securing her tightly.

With determination etched on his face, Alvin spurred his horse into motion, racing against time with blood still dripping from Liora's battered body. The sinister pursuers were hot on his heels, but Alvin unleashed a relentless barrage of arrows to keep them at bay.

Finally, he arrived at a humble-looking village and hastily carried Liora into a small hut. Without hesitation, he began tending to her injuries.

Liora, still in a bloody mess, mustered the strength to speak, her voice barely a whisper, "At this moment, you're still trying to save me, even though I once stabbed you, stole your bow in secret, and even attempted to kill your comrade?"

"F*ck it!" Alvin exclaimed, his frustration and determination evident in his words. He continued working to mend her wounded body, tearing her tattered dress and commencing the healing process.
