CLARA'S POV
How could they take my daughter there without my consent?
"You were mine the second I saw you," he replied, his eyes not leaving the road.
"You did not need to marry me." My eyes searched for something to belt him with.
"I did. Besides, only mates may know the location of our headquarters—it was necessary to keep you safe." He expertly maneuvered the large truck around a fallen tree, and its branches scraped the brown paint off with a shriek.
Anger caused my entire body to tremble. "How long will your damn handprint stay on my hip?" I needed to get my daughter the hell away from the vampires.
He turned surprised golden eyes my way. "I marked you, Clara. I told you I would."
"How long, Taki?" I asked through clenched teeth. How could he sound so calm when every cell in my body burst with fury?
He shook his head, turning back toward the road and clenching his jaw. "It's a marking, Clara. It's permanent."
