Although she said those last words in a low voice, Blake could still hear what she said loud and clearly, and he felt the pang in his chest grow heavier.
With those words, Aria started walking away, leaving Blake behind.
Blake clenched his fists tightly, and his eyes drifted to the zombies walking around the wolf.
Their numbers had already gotten fewer, and only about seven number of them were left. It seemed like the rest just gave up and left the spot after finding nothing of value.
Surprisingly, they refrained from consuming any part of the wolf's body, not even taking as little as a small bite. It became evident that their diet solely revolved around human flesh.
Seeing them walking around with no care in the world, he felt his anger burn bright again. He felt like charging straight at them and burning them all to a crisp using [Lightning Ball].
The images of his parents, who died cruelly in the hands of zombies flashed across his mind, filling him with more rage, however, it clashed with that of Daisy shivering… the sick little girl who was the main reason they were out here.
As painful as it felt to admit it, Aria was right. He really was selfish, choosing to fulfil his own selfish desires of anger and revenge over saving someone's life.
His gaze repeatedly turned between the zombies and the golden haired girl who back kept going further away from him, and with his teeth gnashed together in frustration and disappointment, he sprinted towards Aria.
"Wait… please wait." He called out, still trying to keep his voice as low as possible.
"Huh?" Aria mumbled in surprise, as she turned her head towards Blake.
"I-i'm sorry… I didn't me—"
"Don't worry, let's just go." Aria sharply said, cutting off his words.
Blake awkwardly nodded his head, feeling a a little disappointed that he wasn't able to complete his apology.
It was clear Aria was still mad at him for what he said, despite her trying to mask it with her cold expression.
However, he didn't bother saying anything else, knowing that wouid only make the situation more awkward.
They kept walking towards the pharmacy, but they didn't take the normal way, instead walking through alleys and building in order to avoid meeting any zombies.
The journey to the pharmacy was filled with an awkward silence between the two, which only weighed more on Blake's conscience as he felt that he was the problem.
Finally, after walking for a few minutes, they arrived in front of a large white and blue building, with the words 'ASD pharmacy' written boldly on the top.
At the side of the building, there was also a large red and white medical cross sign.
"Hey Aria, about before—" Blake was about to say, but he was cut off once again by the girl.
"We're here, finally. Better not let down your guard." Aria said, slowly walking towards the door of the building.
As for Blake, he was forced to swallow his words once more, simply nodding his head in reply, before following behind her.
The pharmacy had a black double door, along with some windows at the sides. However, the windows were all locked from the inside, so they couldn't look through them.
With a light frown, Aria pushed the door open, before slowly walking into the building.
Blake gently walked in after her, his heart beating so fast that he felt it could leap out of his chest.
His thoughts kept running wild with every step he took, and he felt like a zombie or mana beast would jump at them any moment from now.
However, contrary to his expectations, nothing of the sort happened.
What came in their sights was a dimly lit room, with shelfs filled with drugs and syrups neatly arranged at the sides.
Despite the apocalypse, it didn't seem like anything affected the building as even the ground was sparkling clean.
At the far end of the room, there was a brown counter, but no one was behind it.
'There's someone staying here… another survivor.' Aria thought, her brows furrowing slightly.
"Intruders..." A tiny voice suddenly echoed from behind one of the shelves, and a short boy with long blonde hair swiftly hopped out into view.
Aria, shocked by his sudden appearance, instinctively stretched her hands towards him, summoning a thin light arrow using her skill.
"Stay r-right there." He said, stuttering in fear when he noticed the radiant arrow flying above Aria's hand.
Blake briefly took a glance at the stranger's appearance, still not sure whether being violent was the right choice.
Hanging at the boy's side was a black sheat, and his dressing consisted of a simple blue shirt and black trousers.
"Wait… he seems harmless." Blake mumbled, not seeing any reason for Aria to use her skill.
"Yeah, he seems…" Aria replied in a whisper, putting emphasis on the "seems".
Judging from the arrow floating in front the Aria, the boy felt like she wanted to attack him and his hand swiftly went to the sheat hanging by his side, before pulling out a long sword.
With a deep frown on his face, he pointed the blade towards the duo.
"Who are you? What do you want? Are you infected… this is no shelter for the infected." He said, trying to look threatening and failing due to his tiny voice and short stature.
"We're not here to fight anybody, we only want to g—" Blake was about to speak, however, his words were cut off by another voice.
"You don't have to worry Edward, they aren't infected." A deep voice suddenly came from the side, causing Aria and Blake's eyes to widen in surprise.
They sharply turned their head to the side, and they eyes met with that of a tall boy with short blonde hair.
"If they were… I would have taken care of them the moment they entered this pharmacy." He said, his lips curling into a smug smile.
'I didn't even sense him.' Aria mumbled inwardly, her face squeezing into a frown.
'Another one… I didn't notice him at all, is it the work of a skill?' Blake thought.
"You both don't have to worry, I'm not here to fight or anything." The tall boy said, slowly walking towards his shorter partner.
Hearing his words, Aria slowly put down her hand and the light arrow disintegrated into tiny white particles.
"You can put down your weapon also." He said, tapping the shorter boy's shoulder.
The other boy also returned his sword back into the sheat, albeit with a frown on his face.
"Who are you two, and what are you doing here?" Blake asked, unable to contain his curiosity.
The tall boy chuckled lightly at his question, before turning his gaze back to him.
"Don't forget you're the ones that barged in here, so we're the ones supposed to ask that. Who are you? Why did you come here?" He asked, his expression turning into a serious one.
