The zombie's steps was so slow and despite that it had been chasing Blake for a few minutes, Blake still closed in on it faster.
A weird hot sensation spread through his hands and he could feel an odd amount of strength course through him as he swung the iron rod towards the zombie's head.
THWACK!!
The rod travelled through the air in a crescent arc before slamming into the side of the zombie's huge mouth.
Due to the long length of the rod, the zombie's outstretched hands didn't get close to Blake before the pole collided with its mouth.
The zombie growled as the force behind the attack pushed its head to the side before it fell flat to the ground.
Without waiting for the zombie to get up, Blake raised the iron rod up, holding it with both hands before using it to stab the zombie right above its large mouth.
The pointed end of the rod stabbed into the zombie, leaving a deep hole from which dark green blood spurted out.
The zombie growled and tried stretching his hand towards Blake's leg to grab it.
SMACK!
But before it even got close to Blake, the thin metal pole descended unto its head once more.
Its head caved in and blackish green blood started oozing from its injuries, the zombie's movements slowed even more as it got closer to its death.
Blake watched as the zombie kept writhing on the floor, but still, the anger bubbling in him hadn't lessened in the slightest.
He kept breathing heavily as he raised the rod up once more, before smashing it back unto the zombie's head.
The side of the rod slammed into the zombie's head, the zombie's head caved in even more and more blood splattered around, some even staining Blake's clothes.
The body of the zombie kept writhing on the ground but still Blake didn't relent in his attacks.
He kept smashing the iron pole on the zombie, alternating between its head and its large mouth, each hit with more force than the former.
The blackish green blood of the zombie kept spluttering and splashing around, staining more parts of Blake's clothes with a blackish green colour.
His eyes were filled with anger and at the same time sadness. His whole vision was dyed red and all that kept playing in his head was how this large-mouthed zombie bit his father's head.
The more he remembered the expression of despair on his parents faces before he lost them forever… the more the ache in his chest grew.
Unknown to Blake, at a point, a dull and almost transparent yellow orb, shot out of the zombie's body and entered his body.
A strange notification also flashed across his eyes but due to how muddled his mind was, he saw neither the transparent blue orb nor the notification.
All he wanted was to kill the zombie… all that he wanted right now was to take the zombie's life as it did his father's.
He could feel a warm energy coursing through his body, nourishing his muscles and giving him more strength and power.
But all he used that power for was smashing the zombie's head with even more force.
Smack!
Splash!
Thwack!
The only sound that kept echoing in the solemn street was the sound of a pole slamming into the ground, and that of blood slashing around, as the zombie's head had long since turned to mush from Blake's hits.
After hitting it a few more times, Blake finally stopped.
The body of the unfortunate zombie had long gone still from his incessant attacks and the only thing left in place of its head was blackish green blood, broken parts of its skull and slimy black substance that was spiral at the edges.
The greenish blood and scattered pieces of skull and brain matter managed to create a very disgusting and irritating scene that could make even the strongest man puke.
Tears slowly streamed down Blake face as his grip on the iron rod loosened, the rod hanging loosely in his hand.
Now that his mind was a little clearer, he finally noticed the notification that appeared at the corner of his eye some minutes ago.

"What is this…" He mumbled, in surprise and confusion. He stretched his hand towards it, hoping to touch this weird screen that was in front of it, however his fingers simply phased through it. In fact, he didn't even feel like his hand touched anything, it was as if the screen was air.
Actually, this wasn't the first time something like this appeared in front of him, it first appeared when he was still in the abandoned building, but he thought it wasn't real, and he was the only hallucinating.
His brows furrowed in confusion and his eyes wandered back to the zombie's corpse laying beneath him.
His eyes widened when he noticed something next to the zombie's corpse.
"What's this…" He muttered and slowly bent over the corpse and picked it up.
It was a short scroll with some strange blue dimly glowing lines around it. It had a weird and mysterious aura around it and the moment he held it in his hands, another tab appeared in front of him.
[Lightning Ball (C-Tier skill) level 1: Conjure a blitzing lightning ball. The size and and effect of the skill depends on the user's magic power, mana and imagination.]
Blake's eyes shone as he stared at the words in front of him.
'A C-tier skill… Lightning ball. I'll be able to conjure a lightning ball. If it's a skill I should be able to learn it, right?' He thought. His mind was all over the place and he still wasn't sure if this was real or he was simply lost in his imagination.
'Learn skill…' The moment he wished to learn the skill, the scroll in his hands dissipated into tiny blue particles before entering his body.
A strange blue rune appeared deep in his consciousness and his brain suddenly received a flood of information about the skill.
Blake's eyes widened and without anyone teaching him… he knew how to use the skill.
"Magic… magic… it's real. Magic… is real." He muttered to himself.
[You have learned an active skill. Four more active skill slot left.]
Blake only glanced through the notification that flashed across his eyes before ignoring it.
He stared at his right palm and willed for the skill he just learnt to activate.
Immediately, a spark appeared above his palm, but within seconds, the small spark started increasing before coming together to form a tennis-sized ball of lightning that crackled with immense power.
As Blake stared at the ball made purely of lightning in his hands, he realised… magic really was real.
He toyed around with the lightning ball, moving it sideways and also spinning it gently and couldn't help but feel entranced by its beauty.
Just then, he suddenly picked up a couple of loud growls coming from his back.
Immediately, his face darkened and without even needing to turn around, he already knew the kind of creatures that were behind him.
The memories of his parents that he had momentarily forgotten appeared in his mind once more, and he slowly turned around with a dark look.
His eyes came across a group of eleven zombie slowly walking towards him with staggering steps, and he dropped the iron pole that was in his hand.
Raising his other hand up, he used the skill he just learnt once more, causing another ball of lightning to form above his palm.
His eyes moved towards the group of zombies slowly moving towards him and he slowly mumbled: "Zombies… I'll kill you…"
"I'll FUCKING kill you all!!" And with that, he dashed towards the approaching horde of zombies. He pulled one of his hands backwards and immediately launched the lightning ball crackling above it towards the horde.
