Chapter 93 - You Really Are Insane!

As Aiden observed these people from the distance, a man walked up to Medusa and her group.

Like most men in the room, he wore a suit, a suit that threatened to rip to shreds holding back his raging pot belly.

Seeing his appearance, Aiden raised his brows, it was rare to see such unfit people in the world today.

As Aiden thought this, the man was busy speaking to his guests, he bowed slightly revealing a balled spot at the middle of his head before saying. "It's a pleasure to have you with us Madam Medusa, I'm-"

"Ugly." Medusa's voice sounded out in a blank tone, her face showing no particular emotion.

Hearing this surprised quite a few people who had been eavesdropping, even the balled manager seemed to be shocked.

Seeing the situation before them, Medusa's teammates felt like hitting their foreheads.

Blackout, the man with the blonde hair suddenly stepped forward and patted the man's shoulder before saying. "Hahah, Mr. Vin, it sure is a darn pleasure, don't mind Medusa, she's fond of joking around."

"Ohh, haha," Vin laughed before turning to Medusa. "You got me hahah, good joke, good joke."

Watching Vin as he laughed alone, Medusa tilted her head as she thought. "Is he autistic?"

"Bam!"

She suddenly felt someone hit her slightly with his elbow, glancing at the source she discovered that it was Nightdancer her balled companion.

Currently, he was giving her an urging look, prompting Medusa to roll her eyes and force a smile.

Watching Medusa, Nightdancer couldn't help but shake his head, the subtle shake of his head conveyed his disapproval of Medusa's antics, though he remained silent.

Seeing Medusa smile, Vin said excitedly. "As you can see, the stage is ready so you can hop on any time you're ready."

"We understand Mr. Vin, thanks for the opportunity," Blackout responded with a smile, watching Vin as he walked away to welcome other guests.

As Vin walked away, Nightdancer leaned towards Medusa who had a forced smile and whispered. "Ma'am you have to look welcoming, even though you may not be enjoying tonight's event, remember who you're doing it for."

"Nightdancer's right Miss Medusa," Skytio added from the side her voice laced with respect as she spoke to Medusa.

Hearing the words of her teammates, Medusa spoke. "I understand, this is the first time in a while that she's asked something of me, and I can't afford to screw it up. With that being said you three seem to be having so much fun restraining me."

"Darn, hell No!"

"We would never!"

"That's not true!"

The three Veterans responded simultaneously, but before Medusa could scold them, other people arrived to welcome her, she was a Veteran of the Silence after all, and the resources she had asses to was nothing less than desirable.

Any business in their right mind wished to deal on objects with paranormal value, like hell crystals or forgotten Items, even the lowest level items would sell for a fortune amidst the normal masses.

"Well, I made a few million, much less than I had initially expected." One of the guests speaking to Medusa said earning him nods of approval from the people around.

Looking towards Medusa, he could see that she had an uninterested look in her eyes as she turned her head scanning the crowd.

Amidst this group of people, Delia and Jameson could be seen there as well, holding onto their glasses as they conversed with their peers.

Turning to Medusa, Delia bore a flattering smile on her face as she approached. "Wow, what's your skincare routine." She asked attracting Delia's attention before adding. "You're practically glowing."

Medusa didn't reply, she just stared blankly at Delia with a forced smile on her face, before it could get weird, Skytio stepped in and responded. "It's a secret, come on I'll tell you all about it."

As Medusa and her crew conversed with the small crowd of affluent people, Aiden who had been watching from a distance finally decided to stand up.

With that in mind, he got up and walked towards Medusa's direction, his steps firm and guarded.

Medusa on the other hand who had been subtly scanning the room spotted Aiden immediately.

As soon as she spotted him, her gaze stopped in his direction her eyes filled with an unhealthy amount of mischief.

Aiden was also staring at Medusa, his expression unreadable as he walked towards her.

By now some of the guests that flocked around Medusa began to notice that her attention wasn't all there, and when they followed her gaze, they spotted a man in fully black attire.

"Who is this guy?"

This was the question that simultaneously ran through the minds of the guests, but not everyone shared that thought, Delia and Jameson were surprised, they knew Aiden had somehow gotten into the party, but they didn't think he was audacious enough to meet the star of the event.

By now, Aiden was already among them, his eyes locked on Medusa.

"What are you doing here?" Jameson who seemed irked by Aiden's presence asked.

His hostile question drew even more attention to Aiden, but before the person in question could even answer, Medusa's voice sounded out. "You look dashing, like some kind of foreign escort."

Silence, the first words that escaped Medusa's mouth were so odd that everyone around her turned quiet.

Even her companions could only sigh in defeat, looking at Medusa Aiden was surprised by her words, but he quickly regained his bearings and smiled.

Before he could say anything, Jameson who had been ignored said again, this time walking closer to Aiden. "Hey, I'm talking to you."

"Idiot!"

Delia and most of the affluent guests around thought as they watched Jameson make a fool of himself.

Just by the way they looked at one another, it was obvious Medusa was familiar with the strange man in all black.

Seeing this man confront Aiden, Medusa raised her brows but made no attempt to stop him, Delia on the other hand didn't wish to get Involved and get embarrassed by Medusa.

Silently observing Jonathan, Aiden said with a sigh. "You still act this way at this age?"

Aiden's deep and calm voice may not have been loud, but it carried a tone that sent pleasant tingles down one's spine.

"This vermin thinks he's better than me," Jameson thought in shock, and the more he thought about this, the more his lingering dissatisfaction built up.

Jameson thought fast thinking of a way to regain face, and that's when it hit him. "Security!" He suddenly yelled before darting in. "This man shouldn't be here, he has no invit-"

"I invited him," Medusa's distinct voice sounded out, bringing Jameson another wave of embarrassment.

At the sound of Medusa's voice, even more, guests paid attention, the tension in the room was palpable as the guests exchanged uncomfortable glances, their curiosity piqued by the unfolding drama.

Jameson felt so embarrassed that he wished the ground would swallow him up, he glanced around, watching the mocking and amused expression of the bystanders, he could almost hear their inner thoughts.

"Idiot!"

"So immature!"

"He runs a million Creda business?"

"How foolish!"

Glaring at Aiden, Jameson muttered, his cheeks flushed. "This isn't over," and with that he walked away, tearing through the crowd of people.

Meanwhile, Delia's mind raced with embarrassment for Jameson. "How could he be so foolish?" She thought, plastering a polite smile on her face as she continued conversing with the other guests.

"He's quite the basic side character," Landon's voice sounded out in Aiden's head prompting him to nod a bit and respond. "Characters like him always need to be taught a lesson, remind me to look out for him Landon."

"I expected a fight," Medusa's voice suddenly sounded out behind Aiden, by now the crowd of people had reduced even Medusa's group had moved on to talk to other people.

Seeing the let-down expression on Medusa's face, Aiden felt his eyes twitch, by the look on her face, Aiden could tell that she really wanted to witness a fight, either that or she was a really good actress.

With a sigh, Aiden gestured for Medusa to sit down as he thought to himself. "She doesn't seem as crazy as they say."

Sitting down in front of Aiden Medusa took a sip from her glass before asking. "Why did you attend?"

"You know why, I've come for my tag," Aiden responded, but as he said this he noticed something about Medusa.

Currently, she sat opposite him, a single table separating them, between her delicate fingers was a wine glass, but her mind didn't seem to be all there, instead, she seemed to be scanning the room, a focused look in her eyes as she observed each crevice.

"Hello," Aiden called out in a successful attempt to get Medusa's attention.

Slowly she turned to him again, her eyes expecting him to say something which Aiden did. "Are you looking for something?" He asked expressionlessly.

"Souvenirs," Medusa said with a blank look on her face earning her a raised brow from Aiden.

Aiden pressed his lips together. "What kind of souvenirs are you looking for?" He asked feigning interest.

"Hmm," Medusa mused, the glass twirling between her fingers as she said lazily. "I'm looking for anything shiny, bonus points if it's sharp."

As Medusa spoke, Aiden looked towards her with even more confusion, a confusion that she didn't seem to notice as she continued speaking. "You know, these guys probably looked into me, just look at the place, they took away all the fun knives, even the food, I mean what kind of restaurant serves pre-cut prime ribs and roasted fish?"

Rubbing his temples, Aiden said cutting Medusa short. "I'd appreciate it if you could stop playing around Miss Medusa, I need that tag."

"I know," Medusa responded lazily once again tilting her head as she added. "Your tag is indeed with me, but I'm not giving it back."

"Why?" Aiden asked patiently, trying his best to hide his irritation.

There was a short quietness in their midst as Medusa took another sip from her wine glass, but after that sip she said. "There's a number of affluent guests attending this event, over there you can see Mr. Alexander Sterling, CEO of Sterling Enterprises. Mrs. Isabella Vanderbilt, a philanthropist and Art Collector. Dr. Sebastian Blackwood."

"And how does that have anything to do with my tag?" Aiden asked as he leaned in slightly, his aura getting a bit oppressive.

Feeling unbothered by Aiden's growing presence, Medusa continued. "I want you to do something for me."

"I'm on a mission," Aiden responded as he brought out his cell phone and showed her the text he got from the Silence.

Seeing this text, Medusa narrowed her eyes and finally took a good look at Aiden. "You're not just a pretty face after all," she said with a smirk.

Hearing her words, Aiden thought for a while before getting up. "I'll be on my way then," he said with a forced smile.

Seeing Aiden just get up and waltz away, Medusa was surprised, her brows raised as she dropped her glass.

Meanwhile, Aiden didn't look back, he walked out of the event with firm strides as if he'd lost all interest in the orange tag.

His swift exit drew some attention to him, but no one approached.

Soon, Aiden was at the reception, but just when he was about to take another step he felt a ripple in his consciousness as it warned him of danger.

Aiden didn't have time to think, he didn't even look back, instead, he tilted his head slightly to the right. "Whoosh!"

"Slat!"

A sharp object flew past him, slightly grazing Aiden's cheek as it drew blood, a visible red stream flowing down his cheek.

"Oh my," Maya the receptionist at the front exclaimed at the sudden turn of events, she had witnessed everything that happened and it gave her quite a shock.

To see Medusa hurl a throwing knife in Aiden's direction.

Aiden on the other hand, turned back and his gaze met that of Medusa's, her face a reflection of the small grin at the edge of her lips.

"Tap!"

"Tap!"

"Tap!"

The sound of her heels hitting the marble floors could be heard as she strode towards Aiden with a confident catwalk.

Soon, she was within arms reach of him, and when she reached him, she removed a white handkerchief from the inner pocket of her attire.

In one smooth motion, she moved to wipe Aiden's cheeks while asking. "Why did you move? You ended up hurting yourself, if you had just died then you wouldn't have to feel such pain."

Saying this, she finished cleaning Aiden's cheek and discovered to her surprise that his wound had already healed, and with that, she looked up to Aiden who was a head taller than her, an innocent look in her eyes as she tilted her head.

Seeing this Aiden who had remained still the entire time, finally spoke. "You really are insane."
