Ashely receives her smirk, and Emily returns it while glaring menacingly. "Ah, and how exactly did that go?"
I shrug and say, "I guess that went okay.
She hums mockingly, "Hmm..." "And regarding the interview or photo shoot, have you heard anything back?"
"Yes, Mrs. Olivia," I replied.
"Really?" She mockingly smirks. Like Robert did yesterday, she slouches and places her hands on the table in a fist. "And what did he say?"
I take a big gulp and straighten up in my seat, clasping my hands in front of me much like she did. I add with a big smile, "He said yes for the interview and that he will let me know on Friday when he gets here if he'll do that photo session or not.
Emily's eyes widen and her jaw literally drops. Victoria's smirk has vanished from her face, and she now has a horrified expression. Nate and Daniel both laugh. The other people in the room are all grinning and happy of me.
He smirks at her, "My trusty intern can handle anything you throw her way mother." "Well done, Isabella. If you continue in this manner, Olivia Global will eventually give you an office of your own.
I give him a sincere grin and say "thank you" to him and the others who are congratulating me on finishing my task. Victoria is staring up at me as I turn to face her.
She only states, "Looks like you were right, Emily," to an alarmed Ashely. She was the ideal candidate for the position given that she was granted an interview with Mr. Woods.
Ashely took a deep breath and turned to face Victoria. I warned you that she was the one.
Victoria hums, "Hmm." She spins around and gives me a phony smile as she turns to face me. Daniel could be correct. But I'll give you a promise.
I take a sip and sit up, giving her my whole attention. "If this piece about Mr. Woods is flawlessly written and completed, I'll promote you from intern to a better position here at Olivia Global. What sound does that make?
I enthusiastically nod while clearing my throat. "That is the ideal solution. I'll try my hardest to make this flawless, I swear.
"You better," I say.
Daniel winks at me as I turn to face him. I blush and turn to face an upset Ashely. She looks up at me after catching my eyes. She frowns at me while feigning interest in Mrs. Olivia's ramblings about planned activities at work.
Oh, and Emily, you're taking the Mr. Woods meeting. Understood?"
Emily raises her head and beams broadly. Mrs. Olivia, it will be my pleasure, of course.
I nearly smirk at her decision to chose Emily for the interview above all the other candidates. Lisa is so good with interviews, so I was hoping she would pick her to do it. However, the one person I would avoid having near Robert on Friday was the person who was scheduled to be there. To be completely honest, I was extremely envious of Ashely for getting to interact with him and spend time with him. If I said I never wanted to see him again, I'd be lying.
Everyone complimented me after the meeting. Everyone, of course, except Emily. As Nate and I enter our office, we begin bouncing and clapping enthusiastically. "Oh my god, that was the fucking best day of work I've ever had."
Oh my God, I am aware! Nate chuckles, "Their expressions were priceless, El. Wow, it must have been worthwhile to be threatened by Woods, huh?
"Definitely," I say with a smile.
Can you believe she persuaded Ashely to do it, seriously? He sneers, "Out of all the fantastic interviewers we have. She could have gotten Lisa or myself to do it.
As I ran my fingers through my hair, I sighed. "I had the same thought. Oh well, as long as I finish the interview and can write something about him for this month's edition.
Nate nods, "True." But I'm still disappointed that we won't get to participate in that interview. To really see him in person would be amazing.
Who knows, you might catch a glimpse of him as he ascends, or you might be asked to remain in the space while the devil questions him.
"God, I hope so," he chuckles. Anyhow, tonight we celebrate by consuming wine, ordering takeout, and viewing classic films.
I agree right away while grinning broadly. There is nothing else I could possibly want right now more.
