Chapter 162 - Zoo

Abel led Nathan through the rain forest until they came to a small hut. More than a hut, it was more like four wooden poles supporting a roof made of leaves.

"What are we doing here?" he asked again the same question he had been asking himself for a long time.

"Yes you are impatient, this way you will never get things done. With the essence in our body, we age much slower than normal people" explained Abel as he moved a couple of logs under the hut. "We are going to live for many years, so you will have too much free time on your hands"

Nathan remained silent. He had never really thought about how long he had to live. The mortality rate of people who had essence was high since they usually died within the realms, so it was unusual to reach a high age.

Nathan did not plan to die young either, but so many things had happened to him in such a short period of time that he was not sure he would be able to enjoy old age.

It would be arrogant to plan what you are going to do in a year when you don't even know if you will survive tomorrow. For this reason Nathan did not answer.

"Okay, it's ready. You leave your stuff here" Abel said, pointing to the logs he had stacked together to create a makeshift table.

"My stuff?" asked Nathan. He barely had anything on him besides his clothes, the Adam's fang necklace, the bracelet containing Amelia's soul and the Luschvik.

"Yes, all your relics including the two beings you carry with you" Abel said without much significance. Nathan, on the other hand, paled instantly when he heard Abel talk about Amelia and the Luschvik.

"What are you talking about?" asked Nathan trying to show ignorance.

"You don't have to pretend, I can see two positive energies next to you. One on your chest and the other on your wrist" Abel sighed, indicating the places where the Luschvik was hidden and where he was wearing the silver bracelet.

Nathan bit his lips slightly and stared at Abel, not knowing what to say. The man was the first person who had discovered Amelia's presence in the months they had been together. Besides the Luschvik, which Amelia said was a rather rare and important mythological creature.

"You worry about stupid things, if I wanted to snatch them from you I would have done it by now. Besides, you are my granddaughter's guest. I wouldn't dare do anything to you" Abel said exasperatedly, crossing his arms.

Nathan hesitated for a few more seconds until he heard Amelia's voice in his mind. 'Don't worry, I don't think he's lying'

'…I know' Nathan answered with a bit of doubt still in his mind. But after thinking about it for a few more seconds, he took the Luschvik out of his coat and then removed the silver bracelet, losing the connection with Amelia.

The Luschvik transformed into its original form and when it saw that there was someone besides Nathan present, it began to growl. Abel just looked back at it curiously.

"What kind of creature is that…? A calamity? No... I don't feel what I would feel from a calamity" Abel asked himself.

Nathan did not answer his question and just looked at the Luschvik. "Go and eat something, but no people"

The Luschvik looked at Nathan ignoring Abel and quickly turned and left, disappearing into the forest.

"Interesting... Even as an adult I'm still discovering new things" Abel looked at Nathan. "I can already understand why my granddaughter has an interest in you"

Nathan only remained silent as he took off his necklace and left it next to the silver bracelet.

"Now take off your clothes and leave only your pants" Abel indicated.

Nathan looked at him without knowing what he intended and took off his coat before taking off his shirt. Then he took off his shoes and put them aside with his socks.

His gray arm with a red mark stood out in comparison to his body, but Abel didn't ask anything even after giving him a curious look.

"Follow me" Abel said walking away from the hut. "Don't worry about your things, no one will come to this place"

Nathan took a last look at his things, especially the silver bracelet. He felt somehow empty without Amelia's presence. Something that he had considered normal for more than 17 years of his life now felt strange.

Finally, he turned and began to follow Abel. After a few minutes, they both reached a cliff of about 20 meters and stopped in front of it.

Nathan looked with surprise at the large crater that looked like a hole several kilometers in diameter in the middle of the forest. Inside it, there was yet another forest, as if a piece of land had sunk in.

"The more I see it, the more incredible it seems to me" Abel murmured.

"What is it?" asked Nathan.

"My own zoo" explained Abel. "I was bored a few years ago and decided to create this project"

Nathan looked confused at Abel. "A zoo?"

"That's right" Abel nodded. "For some reason the appearance of realms is not very frequent in this area compared to a few years ago. That means the number of calamities we may face is less"

Nathan swallowed, sensing what Abel was talking about.

"For that reason I came up with a plan to keep calamities in captivity without them being a danger to people. And finally after some thought I decided to make a natural zoo" Abel stepped back slightly as Nathan looked at the crater.

"Now I'll give you a little tour, I hope you enjoy it" Nathan heard Abel's voice behind him, but before he could react it was too late and Abel kicked him in the back, throwing him into the crater.

"Damn it!" shouted Nathan as he fell before crashing into the top of the trees at the edge of the large hole.

Abel just smiled and took a small jump falling into the hole undeterred.
