Chapter 150 - Live

Nathan slowly brought the head of the calamity closer to his leg, checking a second time that the snake was willing to heal him. When it was in front of his thigh, it opened its mouth wide, showing its large fangs, and bit Nathan.

Nathan noticed that there was no force behind the snake's bite, as if it had been soft on purpose to show its good will. He felt something being introduced into his body, then he pushed the snake away from his leg and waited for it to take effect.

A couple of seconds later Nathan looked at Amelia and asked. 'How does it look?'

'Much better...' Amelia replied. Nathan had already felt his body recovering quickly, he just wanted to know if it was noticeable on the outside as well.

After a couple of minutes, Nathan flowed essence all over his body to look for any traces of poison and smiled as he realized that he was completely healed. Finally he looked back at the calamity that had been standing still the whole time, only hissing from time to time.

'Are you really going to release it?' asked Amelia.

Nathan stood silently looking at the snake in his hands and sighed. 'I know it's dangerous... but I made a deal, and I intend to keep it. Even if it's with a calamity'

Nathan raised his hands and threw the snake to the entrance, which quickly reacted and transformed into a smaller lizard and began to frantically climb the stairs.

Nathan stood still and watched the lizard disappear up the stairs and let it go. Then he turned back to look at the room and frowned.

"Have you ever seen a calamity as intelligent as that before?" asked Nathan to Amelia, who denied.

'It can only compare to some third rank calamities ... but that one was barely first rank third category. It's impossible... although I guess it's not quite'

Nathan nodded at Amelia's words. He had known several third rank calamities, and not all of them shared the same level of intelligence.

Having met Vcansire, Thorius, the rotten calamity and Mary. He learned that not all calamities were beasts... if they could be called calamities at all or they were other types of beings. He still did not know the exact nature of the calamities, but he knew that the public information was erroneous. Or perhaps it was better to say incomplete.

The only thing was that Nathan did not know if it was incomplete on purpose or if he was simply one of the first to know such details.

Either way, Nathan could not simply guess the details. He just stretched his recovered body, but suddenly he heard and felt someone enter the house at the same time.

'Did they manage to follow me?' Nathan picked up both of Adan's fangs, turning the white one back into his part of the necklace and holding the black one tightly in his right hand, which was now a grayish color with a rather obvious red mark.

He recognized the sound of the entrance floor creaking. He had lived in that same house for seven years and knew most of it. Leaving aside the newly discovered basement.

He stopped using scent to avoid detection if he had not already been detected and focused on listening for footsteps on the creaking wooden floor. Meanwhile he walked in complete silence up the stairs and hid behind the door to Boreas' room.

'Just one person?' Nathan realized he could only hear a couple of footsteps, so he assumed that either Glyn had gone ahead, or someone strange had entered. Without using essence he could not know if the other person also possessed essence, so he had no choice but to wait.

The person walked through the entire house, first passing through the kitchen and then through the bedrooms. Finally he stopped in front of Boreas' room where Nathan was hiding. He held his breath for a couple of seconds until the person finally entered the room.

Nathan did not hesitate and jumped with the intention to kill. He did not care about the identity of the person. Right now almost everyone was his enemy, so it was easier to assume that whoever had entered the room would also be his enemy.

However, the other person was able to react to Nathan's attack. Adan's black fang reached out and cut the person, leaving a wound on his cheek.

Syril grabbed Nathan's arm and tried to put him in a headlock, but Nathan responded and instead threw Syril across the room. Syril landed on an antique wooden piece of furniture, smashing it.

She quickly got up and looked at Nathan with a complicated expression. "Found you"

Nathan looked back at Syril not knowing what to say. He was grateful that it was her and not someone else who had found him, but he still kept his wits about her.

"How did you find me?" asked Nathan suspiciously.

"It wasn't that hard. You left a trail of destruction in your wake" Syril answered truthfully.

''...So that's why' Nathan confirmed his suspicions with Syril's answer. With the remnant power of Orion which had already disappeared, he ran until he reached the house, but without being able to control it he left a mess wherever he went.

"I only had to investigate this town a little to find your trail" Syril murmured, then looked at him seriously. "I have a lot of questions to ask you"

Nathan sighed wearily. "Sure you do..."

From when Nathan had first saved Faye from Lloyd, and betraying Khan, to killing the mammoth with a single blow. Syril knew that Nathan was involved in something, but she had no idea what it was.

It was not normal for someone of the first rank to be able to kill a third rank calamity like the mammoth. Syril had too many questions, but they barely had time before Glyn and the other Khan members arrived, so she got straight to the point.

"What are you going to do now?"

Nathan was silent for a couple of seconds, then sighed again. "I'm going to leave until things calm down"

Syril nodded slightly, having surmised the answer beforehand.

Right now both Khan and the government were Nathan's enemies. There was simply no place for him in Radford City.

Nathan looked at Syril and raised Adan's black fang. "Are you planning to stop me?"

Syril fell silent not knowing what to say. It was supposed to be her duty to stop him, but she knew all too well what was in store for Nathan if she took him back to Khan. In all the training fights they had had, Nathan had never been able to defeat her.

Syril was about to move up to the second rank, but Nathan had barely entered the third category of the first rank. As strong as Nathan was, Syril still outmatched him.

Nathan knew this, so he was already prepared to give his all to escape. Even if it cost either of them their lives.

However, Syril shook his head in surprise at Nathan. "I can't do that" She lifted his head and stared at him. "Go quickly, I'll say I didn't find you"

Nathan frowned behind the mask, then rummaged through something inside his coat and tossed a white handkerchief to Syril.

"No one will believe you with that wound"

Syril caught the handkerchief, when she looked back at Nathan, he had already disappeared. Leaving her all alone in the house, Syril looked at the handkerchief and put it on her cheek, wiping away the trail of blood.

Syril closed her eyes and the essence flowed into her wound, increasing the regeneration of her skin, and making it disappear completely in a couple of seconds. She opened his eyes again and looked at the blood smeared handkerchief.

"Live"
