Chereads / Death Premonition / Chapter 95 - International relevance

Chapter 95 - International relevance

For almost an hour, Nathan took part in three more fights, winning all of them and learning from them.

In the end, he realized that no matter how strong the second-category cadets were, Nathan could beat them without even pushing himself to the limit.

These were clearly not deathmatches where he would have to give his all to kill his opponent, which he was used to, but even if he wasn't, Nathan felt he was learning.

With a part of his essence spent, Nathan decided that enough was enough and together with Syril they left the place.

Syril had finished all the meat skewers and now yawned boredly as they walked towards the building.

Nathan looked at her and could help but ask her about what he had heard from the reception staff earlier.

"What meeting were you in?"

Syril looked back at him and tilted her head amusedly.

"It's confidential you know"

Shrugging, Nathan waited for Syril to continue speaking.

"Well, I don't think there's anything wrong with commenting on it"

Holding up his index finger, Syril began to explain the contents of the meeting.

"It turns out that the news of the merger of earth with upper realm is already world news, which naturally brought people's interest. With them, several representatives from other cities and families are coming to Radford city to study the castle"

Radford was the name of the city in charge of the central government and what could be considered the capital of the region where they were located, as well as the city where the Aeterna family lived.

"Among the most important ones, a delegation from the northern islands will be coming"

As they continued walking, Nathan frowned at the mention of the northern islands. Having focused so much on training over the years, he hadn't really been paying much attention to international news. Still, his education when he was still part of the Aeterna gave him an idea of the state of the surrounding regions.

The northern islands were a large archipelago which for many years had been closed off and had become a completely hermetic region, but that had changed a few years ago, and now with the merger of the upper realm with the earth, they had somehow become more open.

Nathan understood why Syril considered the delegation of the northern islands more important than other delegations, because not only did it have a large military force, but it was one of the only regions that had adapted a monarchical state in comparison to the democratic state they had maintained for years.

"It turns out that the delegation is rumored to be the daughter of the King of the Northern Isles herself"

Syril tilted his head in slight confusion.

"I suppose they consider everything that happened to be too important for such an important person to come"

Putting that issue aside, Syril held up another finger.

"The second most important thing is that the friction between the government and the organizations that run the outskirts is greater than ever"

"For years, the government pretty much ignored the outskirts, but now that there's something they can profit from, so they're not very willing to leave while the outskirts organization simply doesn't agree"

Nathan thought about Mesto and honestly couldn't see a way for the outskirts to win against the government. Not only were their forces very different, but even their resources and number of soldiers were simply absurd to compare.

"I suppose only small skirmishes will be created here and there, but for that reason we are also sending reinforcements"

Syril sighed and lowered his hand.

"I really couldn't care less about all the confrontation between the government, Khan and the outskirts...it's a waste of time"

Nathan also agreed with Syril's words, he really couldn't care less about the confrontation between such forces. To him, they were just kids fighting over candy.

Nathan was in Khan because it was the choice Boreas had given him, but he didn't really share the thoughts of the organization... nor did he know what they were, since he hadn't bothered to investigate.

The two continued talking and then arrived back at the building. When they reached the lift, Syril stood outside and looked at him with a slight but menacing smile.

"I told you all that, but I hope you won't share it with anyone"

Nathan nodded slightly.

"It's not like I have anyone to tell either..."

Syril merely smiled.

"Also true, well, see you later"

Waving goodbye as well, Nathan pressed a button on the lift and the doors began to slowly close before moving on.

'So, in this world too there are interests from different sides...'

Even though Nathan had promised Syril not to tell anyone, Amelia had heard everything from beginning to end... though it's not like she could do anything with that information either.

'I guess that's common, everyone looking for personal gain in the end and more so with the world in such a state' Nathan didn't know another world Amelia was talking about, but he supposed it was universal for people to fight for their own interests.

Amelia nodded at his thoughts, then the lift doors opened, and Nathan began to walk down a white corridor before he reached his new room.

Closing the door behind him, Nathan removed his mask and stretched his arms tiredly.

'Today was quite productive'

He walked over to the desk and looked at the mirror that was taped over the wall, then opened a drawer and pulled out a skin mask.

Frowning at the memory of Mary who had not only deceived him but betrayed him back in the castle, Nathan clicked his tongue in annoyance.

'She's a bitch... but I can't deny that her work is impeccable'

Nathan placed the skin mask on his face and used some essence on it, which stuck perfectly to his face.

'Wow... it's quite disturbing' Amelia was also surprised by the mask.

Nathan was going to use the mask to infiltrate the city with his new false identity, but he couldn't deny that skin masks were perfect for committing crimes.

Looking again in the mirror, Nathan touched his face and could barely distinguish the texture of the mask from the skin.

Making various expressions, Nathan studied the performance of the mask and then took it off and put it back in his desk drawer.

'Well, it's not like I'm going to be assigned the mission any time soon...'

Again, he had been given some time to recover before being assigned his next mission, so he had a couple of weeks even a month to continue the fighting.

Massaging his neck, Nathan lay down on the bed and began to feed Amelia essence.

'Amelia... What do you think happens now?'

Amelia enjoyed Nathan's essence but didn't understand his question.

'What do you mean?'

Nathan remained silent, thinking about what he had experienced.

'Right now, there is a Behemoth-like calamity in the city flying over a castle of an upper realm... I can't think that this will be a onetime only occurrence'

Amelia was silent as she understood his thoughts.

'It is possible that over time more and more realms will merge with the earth... then we humans will completely lose control and what little world order we have left'

Nathan scoffed lightly and turned over lying on his side looking out the window of his room that overlooked the great ocean of the island.

'Forget it, it's not like I care either...'
