Chapter 80 - Free fall

The first thing Nathan did when he realized he was falling was to freeze momentarily, his body felt extremely light, he had never been in such a situation before, so he didn't know how to react.

Above him was Seinor who had also started to fall, the tentacles were moving erratically all over his body creating tumults under his skin.

Somehow Nathan felt as if time had slowed down, then suddenly everything was back to normal as he reacted and realized the situation he was in.

'Damn it!'

Nathan didn't have time to think when he saw several barbed tentacles approaching dangerously close to his body.

'Nathan!' Amelia screamed in his head as she saw his situation.

Nathan didn't have a chance to answer Amelia and tried to move to dodge them but being in the air his movement was much clumsier and he barely managed to dodge deadly attacks that left some wounds on his arms and shoulders.

Nathan raised his sword as hard as he could and tried to attack Seinor, but more tentacles came out of his stomach and clung around the sword.

'Shit!' Nathan tried to pull the sword away, but the grip of the tentacles was simply stronger.

The tentacles shook the sword hard and with-it Nathan, pulling him towards the outer wall of the castle with which he crashed backwards.

Withstanding the impact of the wall with his back, Nathan quickly sent his body forward and braced his feet against the wall before propelling himself forward, dodging new tentacles that embedded themselves in the wall, leaving holes several centimeters deep where his body had been before.

It was a strange sensation to propel himself into the void as he continued to fall, so that for a few moments Nathan could see downwards.

There was another part of the castle several hundred meters below him. Then he realized that he didn't have much time before he reached the ground.

Turning his body around again, Nathan suddenly saw a sharp tentacle approaching his face.

He smiled sourly and sighed, realizing that he didn't have time to dodge.

The tentacle pierced his mask and then his head, killing him instantly. A second later, Nathan turned his neck and then cut the tentacle that had made a wound in his shoulder.

Seinor screamed in anger and pain as the tentacles that were in his eyes suddenly extended again towards Nathan.

Tightening his grip, Nathan dodged the tentacles as far as he could and with one hand grabbed one of the tentacles, which moved erratically again and pushed him towards the outer wall of the castle.

Nathan groaned in pain as he felt the blow to his back, then, looking down quickly, he realized that in less than half a minute he would surely fall to his death.

Reinforcing his arms as much as possible with essence, Nathan took a deep breath and raised the sword quickly backwards, thrusting it into the wall.

The sword began to slide down the wall, creating a large crack in its surface, while Nathan felt his arms threaten to tear from the sudden change in his speed.

Seinor's body moved several meters away from him in a range where the tentacles tried to reach him but failed.

Even so, Nathan realized that it was not going to be enough to stop him, so he had to wait for the perfect time to pull his sword out of the wall and twist it in his hands.

His body plummeted again as he pointed it at Seinor.

Nathan didn't hesitate and immediately spent all his remaining essence to strengthen his body, not caring if he tore most of it away or if he needed it later to survive.

It was then that Seinor's body fell to the ceiling of the lower part of the castle, it was thanks to the high resistance of his body plus the resistance of the parasite inside him that his body did not explode instantly with such a fall.

The roof of the lower part of the castle where he had landed cracked completely, then a few seconds later Nathan landed on top of him, thrusting his sword into his chest.

Nathan had slowed down a lot when he had driven his sword into the wall, but even after he had used up all his essence in his entire body to resist the fall, he felt as if his entire body was about to implode.

He had no idea how serious the internal injuries he would suffer from the fall would be, but just surviving would be an achievement and more of a miracle.

With Nathan thrusting his sword into Seinor's chest, the ceiling did not withstand the full impact and collapsed immediately, causing them to fall again.

Nathan kept his grip on his sword in order not to be separated from it and only felt his body fall as he continued to stand on top of Seinor.

For a few seconds everything was catastrophic, the entire ceiling collapsed, and a large cloud of dust rose around them.

Nathan's eyes were tightly closed, and he did not dare to move at all. He simply stood there in the middle of the dust, waiting for everything to calm down.

He didn't notice any movement below him, so assuming that Seinor and the calamity inside him had died he relaxed a little.

'Please...'

The dust cloud slowly began to fade revealing his surroundings.

Nathan took a couple of seconds to look around and noticed a muscular white-haired man and a woman looking on with incredulous expressions.

'Ah... it's that old man'

Oblivious to the man's presence and identity, Nathan looked up at the hole in the ceiling and saw the sky and the outer wall of the castle from where he had fallen.

He had left a large crack in the castle wall with his sword in an attempt to stop himself, and although he managed to survive, he was now in a rather precarious situation in a different area than the residential area, without any trace of essence and with quite serious internal injuries at the cost of having survived such a fall.

Nathan closed his eyes and smiled broadly as he spat blood.

'Ah... I'm fucked'
