"Nooo!" Amelia screamed as she saw Nathan being killed by the calamity.
A moment later, Amelia saw from Nathan's eyes how everything seemed to go back a few seconds, and he was once again swinging the sword at the armor.
This time Nathan did not hesitate to let go of the sword and let it fall with its own weight. The idea was to hit the armor in its helmet and try to eliminate it with a single blow, but as Nathan let go of the sword, it lost speed and fell onto the calamity's shoulder, making a serious dent in the armor and almost taking off its arm completely.
The calamity was left with the outstretched arm with which it had previously broken Nathan's neck. His plan had been to sacrifice his other arm in order to kill the human in front of him, but somehow it had foreseen this and turned away.
Nathan landed on the roof and clutched his neck in pain, it was hard to get used to dying in such a way, that's when Amelia cried out in concern.
"W-what?!"
She had just watched Nathan die at the hands of the calamity, but somehow, he was perfectly fine now. Her mind couldn't process what had just happened to Nathan, so she simply fell silent not knowing what to say.
Nathan didn't have the time to bother about Amelia somehow also being able to see his death premonitions, but he would definitely look into the case later.
The armor tried to adjust his destroyed shoulder but without much success, so he simply bent down and raised his sword.
'Damn monster...'
Nathan had to use all of his strength, reinforcing his arms with essence, even needing gravity to lift the sword. But the calamity even with only one arm was able to lift it without any problem.
Swallowing saliva, Nathan let go of its neck when the pain had subsided and tightened his grip on the knife again, even if it didn't really do anything with it, at least it gave him some security.
"Right... let's continue"
Lynn nodded from behind him and aimed his pistols at the calamity again. She fired two test bullets but unlike before, the calamity parried the bullets with his sword knowing that these could really mean trouble for him. Still, with only one arm, its mobility had been reduced, which meant that Nathan and Lynn would have an easier time of it.
The calamity began to walk towards them again with the intention of ending the fight once and for all.
At that moment, not only Nathan, but also Lynn and the calamity turned their heads as they heard a loud rumbling sound just before it began to shake strongly.
But like thunder and lightning, light is always faster than sound.
Before they realized that the sound of collapse was approaching, suddenly a slight crack appeared in the wall and then the three of them were instantly sliced in half.
Somehow Nathan felt this death a little nostalgic... then a moment later he shouted without a second thought.
"Lynn! Get down!"
She didn't ask for the strange order and simply ducked.
A second later the crack in the wall appeared again and the calamity stood still.
Nathan looked up and saw how the upper part of the armor was cleanly separated from the lower part. Everything happened so fast that Nathan barely had time to feel the sound of the collapse start to get louder, then finally the walls and the ceiling collapsed.
Since he had arrived in the realm and noticed that gravity was rotating, he had seen that it seemed to be only the living beings that were affected by this phenomenon. On the other hand, all the furniture, structures and decorations were not affected.
The ceiling collapsed, but it fell downwards, while they fell upwards.
Nathan had to use essence to cover his body from the debris, then finally all the debris fell, and Nathan found himself one floor up next to Lynn and the corpse of the calamity.
"What happened?" asked Lynn looking up.
Nathan also had doubts about what had happened, but there was something more important to look at.
'Who caused this?'
Somehow, almost dozens of meters around them had collapsed, and as if by magic, the castle was still standing even though much of it had been destroyed.
'This is an upper realm... the things that happen here don't make sense'
Nathan massaged his neck lightly and then heard Amelia in his head.
"Are you okay?"
Nathan looked at the bracelet silently.
'Did you see it?'
Amelia hesitated for a few seconds before speaking but decided to answer with a question.
"...See what?"
Nathan sighed tiredly.
'I know you saw how I died'
Amelia didn't know what to say... she had actually seen the armor break Nathan's neck, but a couple of seconds later he turned back as if nothing had happened.
Nathan himself had not thought that Amelia would also be indirectly affected by his ability. Now there were two people who knew about his ability, Boreas, and Amelia.
In any case, Nathan was not too worried about Amelia, mainly because of the fact that he could control her. Having the bracelet in his hands, where Amelia's consciousness was stored, it wasn't wrong to say that Amelia's life was in Nathan's hands.
The other fact was that Nathan really didn't know what would happen if he continued to feed Amelia his essence, but if something happened, then his future self would fix it.
"I... I saw it" Amelia replied with some trepidation.
Her point of view was from Nathan's own eyes, so even if she couldn't feel Nathan's body, it was like watching herself die.
Just like Nathan the first time he died in the military facility almost eight years ago, Amelia was also frightened, confused, perplexed and many more negative emotions crossed her mind. The only difference between them was that Nathan was just a child when it happened... and that he could feel the pain.
Nathan sighed and shook his head.
'Never mind, we'll talk about it later. Right now...'
Nathan looked around cautiously. They were in a fairly large area as most of the walls had collapsed and were now nothing more than rubble on the ground above them.
"We have to go-" Nathan's words were interrupted by a clapping of hands that echoed throughout the area.
Nathan looked quickly towards the place where the applause was coming from and frowned.
From a dark corridor because all the chandeliers and lamps that illuminated it had fallen from the walls and were consequently extinguished, someone approached walking, the problem was that Nathan could not sense anyone... not even the presence of the man who revealed himself from the darkness.
"So, there are people alive, I didn't expect that... that was a good attack, even I suffered a little to resist it"
Lynn raised her pistols and pointed them at the man, not caring if he did anything to her or not.
The man watched Nathan and Lynn treat him hostilely and raised his hands in surrender.
"Hey, hey, I don't want any trouble. I have no intention of hurting you, I was just passing through"
Nathan could not trust the man's words, but then Lynn's eyes widened slightly in shock.
"I know you... king of the mercenaries"
Nathan frowned at the mention of the man's name.
'Mercenaries?'
He hadn't had much contact with mercenaries, really the only ones he'd ever met were the men kidnapped him and Lira. Besides, the first person he killed was also a mercenary.
Thanks to that, Nathan didn't have a good image of them, so he didn't mind that the man said he had no intention of harming them.
"That makes things easier... you must be one of the princess's subordinates, right?"
This time it was Lynn's turn to frown.
"Where's my captain?"
Nathan didn't know who the mercenary king had been referring to when he mentioned princess, but listening to Lynn, he realized it was Faye.
"Oh, she's actually looking for you and the others in your little group. I guess it was lucky we found you first"
Nathan unconsciously thought of the orange-haired man and the white-haired woman.
At that moment Nathan felt a shiver run through his whole body when the gaze of the king of the mercenaries fell on him.
"And you... Do we know each other?"
Nathan tightened his grip on his knife, not caring if the man was much more powerful than he was.
"I don't think so"
The man cocked his head in thought and then remembered.
"Ah, I remembered, we haven't met before, but I've seen you"
Nathan really couldn't remember the man, it was then that the man smiled macabrely.
"You were on the black market wanted persons page"
