[Universal Emperor Status: Progressive]
[Armageddon Points: +15]
Even before the sword struck, the system's voice reminded Jaden of his mistake. With every attack, every new form, he got himself further into this mess.
What a pain.
And then the attacks connected. Jaden's stern expression masking a brain full of panic went up against Viv's intense excitement.
Only, their weapons never quite made it to that point. For someone else had appeared in between the two of them, stopping both swords with only his fingertips.
Jaden hadn't wanted to fight, but this was a bit insulting!
The only word to properly describe the man between them was 'cool'. He had sun-tanned skin and black-brown hair slightly waving off of his face. He wore what looked like loungewear with a leather jacket haphazardly tossed over top.
It was his eyes that were the real problem. They seemed to be practically blazing on fire.
If Viv had been hyped about Jaden's God Mode, this man simply couldn't care less.
"What are you two playing at?"
His voice was casual, laid back. It was like he had just stopped two kids from beginning a fight in preschool.
Viv pressed his swords up against the man's finger, frustrated when he couldn't make it budge. "We're playing Tenma Edition! You can't interrupt in the middle of the game! That's not how it woooorks!!"
Jaden almost felt sorry for him now, he sounded so disappointed.
The man actually stopped to think a second. "Tenma Edition? Sorry kid, never heard of it."
VIv was only too happy to explain. "Oh! It's where-
But the man wasn't waiting around for explanations. All of a sudden, his eyes blazed even stronger and he stretched out two palms towards Viv and Jaden. They were sent flying back and crashing into the wall.
Jaden felt the impact before he could react. He couldn't breath for a second, and felt a sharp pain all across his body.
Whatever that man had done with his palm, God Mode wasn't working anymore.
Was this yet another person Jaden was going to have to fight today?? It really was the worst of luck.
[DANGER: Fighting not recommended]
[Recommended action: Escape]
[Outcome of Fight: Immediate Death]
…
Well, thank you for that recommended action! Jaden would happily listen to that recommendation!
Or so he thought. The man was now walking towards him. His feet didn't quite touch the ground when he walked, almost like he was floating. "Hey, you, mate. Just a few minutes ago, I felt a chill. And I never feel chills."
Mate!?
This overly-casual way of addressing him made Jaden far more annoyed than he was scared. A man like this was obviously part of the world of systems, not the world of business that Jaden was comfortable with.
Jaden thought fast: "It's pretty cold. People get chills for lots of reasons, you know." It was a bad excuse. But what was he supposed to say!?
The man then laughed, long and hard. "You obviously don't know me well. Have we met, mate? I feel like I've seen you somewhere."
No, they definitely had never met. You don't just forget someone like that. Jaden struggled to his feet. "You're thinking of someone else. My friends don't make it a habit to shove people against walls."
That only made the man laugh harder.
How annoying.
"Woah, mate! I don't do that to my friends, either." Then he drew up closer, and said quietly so that no one but Jaden could hear, his voice suddenly less 'cool' and more 'terrifying'. "I only do that to people with very…suspicious systems."
And then he was back to smiling, as if he never said it.
Jaden never got to respond. Just then, the airplane door burst open and in came Sofia, clutching her arm which had blood streaking down it.
Jaden's heart skipped a beat. Obviously because he was annoyed to see her again.
He was about to warn Sofia about this dangerous newcomer, when her eyes lit up and she almost looked like she was smiling. Almost.
"Crisanto!"
Did he hear that right? This was the famous first system user?
Accusing Jaden of using a suspicious system!?
System, where was his disappear from this planet and never return skill?
