Chapter 6 - Sasuke vs Choi

I don't own solo leveling or Naruto

2 weeks later…

Sasuke woke up with a start, jumping out of bed as soon as he heard the alarm next to him ring at 6am. It had become his routine for the past two weeks to start the morning off with a bout of various different exercises before going outside for a long run.

He couldn't practise any of his jutsu within the vicinity of the hospital where he had been confined. He tried leaving but found out that there had been guards posted about to prevent him from running away and they were surprisingly tough. Although he'd still been affected by Ivar's poison at the time, he'd be able to take them on now though.

Making his way through the building all the way up to his private hospital room he paused for a moment before walking through the door. What was he doing here? He wondered to himself.

"Good morning."

He heard Choi Jong-In announce himself as soon as he walked back into his hospital room from his intense training session outside.

"I saw you training out there today, pretty intensely I would say. You know you've just recovered from the poison in your system, right?"

Sasuke just gave him a look, "So I should be slacking off? I don't think so."

'You work harder than most adults and you're only thirteen!' Choi, however, decided to keep those thoughts to himself, having recently found out that stopping the boy was a futile effort.

"Ah well, who am I to stop you?" Choi just shrugged his shoulders helplessly, "You're Korean is coming along well despite your accent. It's honestly a shock to me that you were able to do all that from just dictionaries and books. You're a fast learner, Sasuke."

"Thanks..." he said, simply accepting the compliment. Learning a new language is never easy, especially one as complex as Korean, but he was able to do so thanks to his Sharingan's enhanced learning skills.

Sasuke narrowed his eyes, "What do you want, Choi? I imagine it wasn't just to compliment my language skills."

"You're right," the redhead chuckled, pulling out a red file from within his off white blazer, "These are your discharge papers, you can officially leave the hospital once you sign them. However, there is a little hurdle beyond that."

"Which is?" Sasuke questioned, prompting Choi to continue.

"You'd still need the signature of guardian or parent to leave since you are still a minor. Hospital rules and all."

"I don't need a guardian. I'm fine on my own," Sasuke replied matter of factly. Choi nodded agreeing with the statement, "I imagine so, but breaking some laws could get even someone like me in a bit of trouble. So I wanted to ask if you know of any relatives we can contact to come collect you. They must be worried."

Sasuke stayed silent, his face unreadable to the outside world. It further reinstated that he was in a whole new world, all alone. But he's never had issues with isolation.

"... No, I don't."

"Hmm... Well, I hope you don't mind me taking you in as my ward? You can come stay with me until you get adjusted," Choi offered, his face completely serious and sincere.

Sasuke blinked not expecting something like that, but it was the best work around for both him and Choi. The man also seemed to be frighteningly powerful so he could definitely use him as an opportunity for training.

"... Hn." he grunted, handing him back the papers. Going over to the bathroom in the corner and closing it shut.

"Ehhh...? Was that a yes or no grunt?" Choi asked, perplexed, gathering up the paperwork into an organised batch. He didn't get an answer.

Sasuke stepped out of the long black limousine with Choi Jong-In in tow. He was wearing a short sleeved black shirt with black wristbands and long black sweatpants. He completed the look with comfortable black sneakers. It was weird wearing closed toe shoes, but they were the only shoes available in the hospital's lost and found bin.

He stood there admiring the tall two story mansion with a unique architecture he'd never encountered before. It reminded him of his mission with Team 7 at the Daimyo palace that one time.

"Impressive, right? I don't usually like showing off, but... This is pretty cool, eh?" Choi grinned widely.

"Yeah, it is," Sasuke muttered.

"Oh, before anything else I'd like to inform you that I'm pretty famous around these parts so the fact that you're my charge will eventually come out and you'll become a public figure so just prepare yourself for that," Choi said, welcoming him into his home.

'You'd think that'd be something he'd say beforehand...'

Choi Jong-In walked through the mansion giving Sasuke a tour of the place showing where his bedroom, kitchen, bathrooms and one of the many other empty rooms.

He knew that this was all uninteresting to the young Uchiha, which was why he'd save the massive training room for last.

Heading down the dark stairs of his basement with Sasuke following closely behind. He stopped just in front of the door putting his hand on the handle.

"Are you ready for our final stop?" He said, being purposefully dramatic. Sasuke just rolled his eyes, "Just get it over with."

He opened the door and Sasuke was greeted with a massive all white room littered with random scratches and burn marks all over the walls, ceiling and floor.

"The training room!" Choi announced with a happy smile, "Eh, eh? What do you think?" He asked, seeing Sasuke's blank face not at all fazed by this room.

"It's certainly something..." was all Sasuke could muster.

"Seriously? That's all you have to say?" Choi pouted childishly. He walked over to the middle of the room and let his off white blaze hit the floor.

Sasuke's interest was suddenly piqued, sensing the redhead slowly revving up his mana reserves.

"You were able to defeat a powerful B-rank boss, an elf one at that. I think you'd be a great asset to have for my organisation, the Hunters guild," he explained, adjusting his glasses so that a harsh glare reflected off them.

"I'm not one to say no to a good fight. Let's see what you got, Choi Jong-In," Sasuke smirked, getting into his preferred fighting stance.

"I was hoping you'd say that."

Sasuke quickly closed the distance between them attempting to land a vicious right hook on the red head's face. Choi was able to block it and retaliate by grabbing his arm and throwing his smaller opponent into the air.

[Flaming Spears]

He suddenly conjured 5 fire spears from the palm of his hand and launched them at airborne Uchiha. An explosion rocketed across the white room, shaking the entire structure, when the spears made contact with their intended target.

'Did I over do it? It's always a bother trying to hold myself back,' Choi thought worryingly, seeing Sasuke not emerging from the smoke that formed. He had held back his power to a B-rank level, more than enough to take out several monsters on that level.

However, he didn't have to worry any longer because multiple small fireballs emerged from the smoke, quickly converging on his location.

'Fire magic?'

He easily swiped the balls of flame away and then barely avoided Sasuke's strike coming from his blind spot.

'His steps are light and quick like an assassin-type hunter, too!' He thought, kicking away the young teen. There's no doubting Sasuke's claims of clearing that red gate by himself just because of their brief exchanges, but he still felt the boy was holding back.

'Huh? When'd he get tattoos?'

Shooting a beam of fire from his hand, he saw Sasuke dodge it and attempt to close the distance, but kept him away with a huge wave of fire. However, the teen was more persistent than he thought and burst through the flames launching a barrage of powerful blows. He managed to block all of the Uchiha's punches before gaining the upper hand and blasting him away.

"Keeping your distance? This tells me that you aren't confident in a one on one exchange," Sasuke said matter of factly, as the tattoos spread over the whole of his body. "Hand to hand combat isn't really my forte especially against assassin types such as yourself." Mages like himself never have a favourable matchup against assassin types, but the disparities between their raw power was enough to mitigate this weakness to assassins.

"I see…"

He saw the boy's eyes shift into a mesmerising ruby red colour. Weaving through hand signs faster than the human eye could perceive, Sasuke moulded his chakra together and puffed his cheeks out.

[Fire Style: Grand Fireball Jutsu]

Choi easily counters the gigantic fireball with a fire blast of his own. He was barely able to block a heavy kick to the sternum from Sasuke just charging forward.

'He's gotten faster! A bit stronger too! This kid isn't normal, that's for sure. Assassin type movements with fire magic and some kind of buff spell to boot!' Choi was definitely impressed as he tumbled on the ground a couple of times before handstand springing to his feet once again.

Choi was forced to play defence for a while just blocking or dodging many of Sasuke's enhanced physical strikes. Catching a stray fist from Sasuke over extending Choi took full advantage and blasted him in the chest, sending flying into a wall at the far end of the room, denting it upon impact.

I had to use a little more power than I intended, but Sasuke is definitely stronger than any B-rank should have any right being,' the S-ranker concluded from their extended exchange.

Sasuke climbed out the hole in the wall he created by being blasted into it, groaning in pain and holding his ribs. 'He's holding back but all his blows pack a punch. I don't know why he thinks I could give him trouble in hand to hand combat when he's not even trying!' Sasuke grumbled internally. A massive fire dragon entered his vision and forced him to move out the way. It chased after him relentlessly, not giving him a moment to think. He leaped up to the ceiling using his chakra control to resist the force of gravity pulling him down and running along the ceiling

This greatly surprised the fire mage, 'You can run on the ceiling too, Sasuke?!'

[Chidori]

Charging up lightning chakra in his hands with chirping of birds, he let more of the curse marks power flow through his veins further amping his power and speed. Sasuke launched himself directly at Choi Jong-In with lightning fast speeds, however another fire dragon intercepted his trajectory. He just smirked. With the way he was now that attack wouldn't be a bother and he just sliced through it with his Chidori.

The dragon, however, did buy Choi enough time to evade the Chidori but Sasuke didn't really mind because he was still inside his range. Weaving another few signs he let the lightning chakra dissipate and fire off in an electrical storm around his body.

[Chidori Stream]

Choi was shocked by the lightning leaving him in a stunned state letting Sasuke land his second meaningful blow, right on the man's cheek.

Although, it didn't send him flying the blow was able to draw blood due to how stunned he was from the Chidori stream.

"Not bad Sasuke, you're definitely not someone to be underestimated," He said, wiping the blood from his mouth, "But this is as far as you go!" he finished, his eyes lighting up in feverish passion.

Using more of his power he blitzed the young teenager and blasted him in the stomach. Before catching him by the arm and slamming him into the ground with a judo takedown.

"Phew! I'm glad I took those lessons with Mr. Ma Dong-ook. They come in handy against troublesome opponents," He said nonchalantly whilst Sasuke struggled against submission hold.
