Chereads / Lost Alpha And His Mate / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"Please, if you give me till month end, I'm sure I'll have gathered enough money to pay you." Jolynn resulted to begging the man.

Despite the injuries on her body and how tired she was feeling, she visited the Mr Gibbs house before going home so she could get back the keys he had confiscated.

"No, I have tried for you, you're owing me three months worth of rent and I'm only pitying you because of how your parents abandoned you, don't take my niceness for granted." Mr Gibbs insisted on kicking them out.

Jolynn wanted to reply the man in a disrespectful way, but she thought of how Vivienne and Timothy would become homeless if she did that, so she begged more.

"I promise you Mr Gibbs, just this once, please." She knelt to the ground, something she had never done.

Mr Gibbs sighed, once again feeling pity for her, "Okay, I'll give you back the keys, just this once, and if by month end you don't pay me,you'll be out and I won't listen to reason." He warned as he handed her the keys.

"Thank you so much, I won't let you down." She promised, took the keys and ran in the direction of the apartments.

"Jolynn!" Her siblings ran to her, but they almost cried when they neared her, saying the bruises on her body.

"What happened?" Timothy was the one to ask.

"It's nothing, I got the keys." She still mustered a smile as she dangled the keys.

Vivienne took the keys and ran to unlock the doors, but Timothy took her bags and helped her towards the door.

After preparing a little dinner for themselves, as it was already late, it wasn't long before Vivienne went to bed. Timothy, however wanted to know what really happened.

"You still need to talk about it." His voice startled Jolynn who was busy looking through the internet for more job offers.

"I need to tie tiny bells around your legs, you walk too silent." She complained, turning towards him.

"Talk." Timothy was a boy of little words, but whenever he asks questions, he wanted answers. Jolynn sighed.

"It was my fault, you didn't look before crossing the road, so I ran before he could do anything about it." Timothy looked at his sister like she's grown two heads.

"You ran? The least you could do was wait for him to take you to the hospital." He complained, raising his voice.

"it's okay, really, what I need to do now is to look for jobs, I made a promise and I need to uphold it." She smiled and Timothy couldn't help but reason why she could still stay happy at times like that.

It was beyond him, but he knew it was because of them.

"I love you." He didn't say those words often, but when he does, Jolynn knows he means it.

"I love you too, both of you." She replied and hot back to her job surfing.

After Jolynn ran away from the accident spot, it didn't help Leonard's anger so he ended up at a bar, not to get drunk, but that was the only place he could reminisce on things.

He however called Tony, his best friend to come to his aid. He recalled his day to Tony, leaving the other man surprised and shocked, to say the least.

"What?! She ran? Are you sure she was fine?" Tony asked without taking a breath.

"I wasn't able to take a good look at her okay, but I'm sure she'll be fine. Can we please talk about the more pressing matters." Leonard suggested, waving his hands to dismiss the accident matter.

"What pressing matters?" Tony questioned, confusion coating his voice.

"I need to get married!" Leonard exclaimed exasperatedly.

"Oh, that." Tony chuckled, annoying Leonard further.

"Yes, that, now if you'll please be kind enough to proffer a solution." Leonard replied sarcastically, but he was being serious in every sense.

"Put out an ad, I'm sure girls are dying to be your wife." Tony said jokingly, but Leonard took it serious.

"That could work." Like that, his brain took off to work, calculating how he was going to navigate it to at least get a decent lady.

"Wait, I was joking." Tony laughed, but stopped when he saw the serious look his friend was spotting.

"Well, I'm not, I'll put out an ad for a personal assistant, and during the interview, I'll now then know what they're in for really." Leonard finalized and left the bar without hearing a response from Tony.

"You can't do things like that Leonard, wait!" Tony shouted after him, seeing as he had no intention of waiting.

Leonard went home straight, locked himself up and set the ad. He was surprised to see an immediate response from different people, so he placed them all on interview for the next day. He wanted to get it over with in no time.

"Oh, this is going to be good." He rubbed his hands, a smirk gracing his face.

The same moment Leonard posted the ad, Jolynn saw it immediately and thought it could be a good offer, so she applied and was pleasantly surprised to know she got an interview slot.

"Yes!" She first bumped herself, clapping her own shoulder before resuming her surfing of the internet.

Jolynn's alarm woke her up the next day, she didn't roll around like she usually does, knowing there could be a potentially high paying job waiting for her at the end of her interview.

She prepared breakfast and sent her siblings to school before getting ready for her plans.

She dressed neat, donning herself in a flowered pattern chiffon shirt and a pleated skirt that fitted her waist perfectly. She was good to go.

Upon getting to the venue of the interview, she was sent in immediately. She, however, didn't expect to see the face she met with behind the doors.

"You!" Her voice carried neither venom nor appreciation.

Leonard's eyes widened.
