Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

(Over Twenty years ago)

"Alpha Xavier! You need to go now!" A man ran down the corridor, frantically looking over his shoulders for any form of threat, trying to get to his alpha. To save him and his child.

"What?! No I won't leave. I need to protect my pack and my mate." Xavier insisted as he kept rocking the child that was beginning to fuss in his arms.

"You and the pup is the target. But with the child out of the way, you can take them and easily win this war." Gabe was sure, he insisted his plan was the best.

"Okay, let's go." Xavier accepted.

His love for his new pup was unwavering and if the only way to save him was to lose him, so be it.

After running several miles on Gabe's back, Xavier was sure they're out of danger.

"Let's stay here Gabe, I'm sure we'll find someone to give him to." Xavier tapped the brown wolf as he got down, clutching his pup to his chest, afraid of letting him go.

Gabe stood in wolf form and changed back to a man, Xavier handed him his clothes. Looking around, they saw no one, but from their stand, they saw a house not too far.

Xavier slowly walked towards the house, with his unnamed pup in his arms.

"You should stay strong my pup, I'll come for you when all is safe." The Alpha carefully dropped him on the entrance of the unknown place that felt like home.

"Leave this by him." Gabe handed Xavier a package of vial. "It'll keep him human until the right time." He explained, seeing the confused look on his Alpha's face.

Xavier nodded, fighting back his tears. With agony shattering his heart, he left his pup, with a promise to come back after making sure the territory was once again safe for alphas.

(Present)

"What!? Where are you now?" Jolynn shouted from the other side of the phone.

"I'm right outside, he doesn't want to listen to reason Jolynn, what do I do?" Her younger sister, Vivienne replied, her voice breaking.

Jolynn was just rounding up at the creche she worked at, preparing to go home when the phone call came in from Vivienne that the owner of the apartment they rented was threatening to kick them out and was on the verge of throwing their things out.

Why? They were behind on rent.

"Go and stay with Mrs. May. I'll come pick you up after I sort it out with him." Jolynn promised and assured her little sister.

"Okay." Came the meek reply before the call ended.

Jolynn was stunned, lost and confused on what to do, her little siblings look up to her to cater for them, but it seems as though she was letting them down.

"What should I do?" She asked herself, pacing the small room she used as classroom for the kids in her charge.

The security guard said in a soft voice as she….."Miss Rays, are you leaving already? I need to lock up." She mustered a small smile, as if nothing happened, she replied.

"Oh yes, I was just finishing up." She picked her bag and walked out, waving to the security.

She was walking, but her mind was not there. She thought of the best way to find money to deposit for their rent, but she couldn't think of no one but one person. Their uncle.

"Who's there!" Came a shout from inside the house Jolynn knocked it's door.

"It's me uncle, Jolynn." She heard a grunt, which could only mean one thing, it was a wrong timing. Despite that, she was still hoping to get help from him.

The door opened and she was met with a fake smile, "Jolynn! How're you niece?" The said uncle, Robert asked throwing out his hand to pull her in for a hug.

"Uncle Robert, I'm fine." She looked around, hoping he would invite her in, but he didn't.

"What do you want." So much for being hopeful.

"I need help uncle Robert, we're behind in rent and on the verge of being thrown out." She explained their predicament to him.

"Oh." He prolonged his word before continuing, "Then get thrown out, you know you can always stay here for free." He wiggled his eyebrows, making Jolynn grimace.

To put it lightly, uncle Robert was a pervert. When Jolynn's parents first abandoned her and her siblings, they came to uncle Robert.

Being a naturally endowed lady, uncle Robert was attracted to her and would sneak up on her at night. Jolynn couldn't take it at all, so they moved out and she promised she would never return, not even to ask for help.

Desperate times however, calls for desperate measures.

"We can't stay with you uncle Robert, you know that." Jolynn took on an accusing tone looking at him pointedly.

"But, I can't give you money either, because I don't have any." He smirked, hoping to break her in with his words, but she stood her ground.

"No? Thank you uncle Robert, you're a great help." Jolynn said sarcastically, turned and left the building immediately.

"What do I do?" For the third time that day, Jolynn asked herself. Not having a solution, she decided to go home to her siblings, they would be getting worried.

She trekked the road without watching her path. She crossed the road without looking anywhere and she found herself in an accident.

As Jolynn was having conflicted feelings, so was Leonard Jones, at the hands of his parents.

"For the last time, Mom, No! I don't have a girlfriend and no one is good for me." Leonard shouted, annoyed at his mother.

"I'm doing this for your own good. You're not a young man Leonard, and you know your father will not acknowledge you if you don't bring home a girl." His mother tried to reason.

"Mom, I understand, more than you think, but I'm not ready, you can tell Dad to just give me the company and I'm sure in time, I'll find the right person for me and we all will be happy." He negotiated, but before his mother could open her mouth to answer, Howard, Leonard's father walked in, having heard every of their conversation.

"No, and if you insist in being adamant in your decision, I'll disown you." Howard said, resonating a gaso from Martha, Leonard's mother.

"You can't do that." Leonard argued looking straight into his father's eyes.

"You can't do that." Martha also said simultaneously.

"You wanna bet?" Howard matched Leonard's glare.

Annoyed, Leonard walked in the direction of the front door, "I'm out of here."

As he closed the door loudly behind him, he could hear his mother persuading his father.

"Howard, you'll drive this boy away from us, that was too harsh." Her soft voice reasoned.

Leonard knew that no matter what, his mother would never forsake him, but his father was a different thing entirely.

With anger, he walked to his car, got in and drove away.

"Why can't I ever be enough?" Leonard fumed within him.

No matter what he did, his father never acknowledged him, unless he was doing his exact bidding, that would be the only time his father sees him.

The next thing Leonard knew was hearing a crash, that was when he awoke from his daydream.

He jumped out of the car to see the lady he hit crashing on the ground, but before he could get near to help, she looked at his face, gasped, got up and ran.

His hand hung in the air, surprised that she was rejecting his help. That didn't sit well with him, so he called out.

"Wait! Please, you can't leave like that, you need to treat your wounds." He shouted after her and she stopped.

He grinned, happy she was yielding his words, only for her to look back and start running again.

"Wait!"

But, she ran as fast as her legs could take her away from him.
